The Kaguya Clan
[bone Blossom]
空のダンス

“ "I've realised recently… that everyone is given life for a reason. Everyone has something important to accomplish. The quest to discover what that is… …is the only freedom us humans have been given.”
(Kaguya Kimimaro)

Kaguya Ichizoku;
Clan Origin: Kirigakure no Sato
Clan Location: Kirigakure no Sato and Otogakure no Sato
Clan Starter: Unknown
Clan Head: Kaguya Karagane [Kiri] Kaguya Kurosawa [Oto]
Clan Age: The Kaguya clan dates back before the formation of Kirigakure no Sato. In the ancient, seafaring land they were one of the most feared and vigorous warloards of the eastern oceans. Tales depicting victory and conquering were passed down in the ancient tribes as ghost stories and wise warnings.
Clan Status: The clan of barbarians and warlords have been known to strike fear in the hearts of children and men alike, spread out now between two countries. Although the clan may have split due to disastrous reasons and don't always act in congruence of each other, their status among shinobi is not without notice. In Kirigakure, they are one of the noble houses that founded the village, but are often regarded as the most arrogant house. The clan itself judges the other noble houses and looks down on most and criticizes all. Their reputation as nobility is no different in Otogakure, but their respect was earned due to their unwavering loyalty to the village. As such, while a Kaguya might be feared in Oto, they are also loved by most of the populace.
Clan Bloodline: Shikotsumyaku [Dead Bone Pulse]
Clan Style: The Dances

Clan Rules:

  •

There is a maximum of 4 slots for the Kaguya ideally split 2 in Kirigakure and 2 in Otogakure.  Village population and demand may give leeway to the serving size.

Clan History;

wc046c.jpg

It had begun when the daylight faded to shadowy dusk and the monsters came out to play. For all of time that there was innocence, there was savageness and as long as there were bodies, there were skeletons beneath. Two red orbs announced the parade of death and the name of Kaguya rang across the land.

For barbarians, the Kaguya are as eloquent as they are fierce and are renown as legends and nightmares. Their very essence is that of mystic and wonder, haunting the dreams of children and men. A family of walking skeletons, very much alive and conscious. Their entire body is a weapon and a fortress capable of embodying the pallet of imagination. The Kaguya have always excelled in their art form, even before the idea of ninjutsu spread across the land. They were warlords and conquers and claimed the land of most of Kirigakure before a village was even notioned by the Shodai Mizukage. The Kaguya Clan is known for the stark white hair the members have, the blue or green eyes with striking confidence, and an arrogant aura to them. It's simple to discount them from their contributions towards Kirigakure no Sato because of all the history stacked against them.

When the Shodai Mizukage sought to unite the land under one banner, the Kaguya fiercely fought for their barbaric empire. There was only one, a turncoat by the name of Kaguya Shirayuri whom accepted his proclamation. That was the initial division of the Kaguya family. Shirayuri became one of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist and secured the Kaguya one of the seats of Nobel Families of the Mist. However, in time when the Kaguya rebelled and attacked the village in order to seize it. They claimed to feel as though they were not given the proper respect they had earned. They were subsequently massacred at the hands of the Yondaime Mizukage, Yagura, and his followers, as so many other clans had been during his reign.

Although the history books claim the family was finished, there were a couple of survivors. One, was Kaguya Kimimaro who was locked away by his father until he was too slaughtered in the rebellion, leaving the poor boy to escape and fall into the clutches of the rogue Sennin of Konohagakure, Orochimaru. The snake-like shinobi had planned on using Kimimaro as his host for a body-transfer jutsu of his own design. Because of this, Orochimaru utilized dozens of experiments on Kimimaro's blood to ensure that once the body was his, it would last for an eternity. After several rapid-cell regeneration tests, it became apparent that not even the Kaguya could completely transcend mortality itself. Instead, Orochimaru began collecting the excess bones removed from Kimimaro's body after each training session and kept them in a stasis pod that was filled with a chemical to stimulate cell regeneration. The idea was to see if a Kaguya could regenerate from a single bone...but Orochimaru wouldn't live to see the fruits of his labor.

Nor would Kimimaro, as he would fall to a disease that plagued his body. For years it would seem as though the Kaguya clan had finally gone extinct. The bones that were left in the stasis pod, however, continued to grow each day, slowly but surely until ten years passed. A fully grown Kaguya sprung itself from the pod, having it's physiology purged of all disease and weakness that it's predecessor endured. Although it was reborn from Kimimaro's bones, it's body had developed and evolved from the man it once was. This Kaguya never took on a name, and as it desperately searched for a purpose it found itself becoming the guardian of the Nidaime Kyoukage and siring a new generation of Kaguya.

The Kaguya have existed as the backbone of Otogakure ever since it's genesis under Orochimaru. The clan were bred to be the right hand of the Kyoukage and stalwart defenders of the entire village. Their infamy naturally caused them to rise as the first and only nobility in Otogakure. Despite all of the praise garnered, the Kirigakure sect refused to acknowledge their Otogakurian brethren as family, decreeing them as a bastardization of the clan. As such, the two sects exist as two separate clans with opposing ideals- Kirigakure Kaguya believing that the strong should dominate and rule the weak, while the Otogakure Kaguya believe in perfecting themselves and the village they helped sustain.

The other survivor was Kaguya Kinara, who was already ripe with child when the rest of her family was murdered. She came before the Water Daimyo crushed and defeating, pleading for repentance for her child. Even the most barbaric beings regard their own kin and special. The Water Daimyo granted her a position as his own body guard and believed the Kaguya were better allies than enemies. The presence of a Kaguya had arguably extended his term for quite the while. As generations passed, the Kaguya of Kirigakure grew amply enough to be restored their old lands as one of Kiri's Nobel families. When news of the Otogakure Kaguya reached their shores, the Kirigakure Kaguya dismissed all related ties with them, believing them now impure and a stain on their name. When Kumogakure invaded, some Kaguya fought with devout patriotism, but only few of those survived to tell the tale. Their numbers dwindled again and shrank, with some bearing their old barbaric and arrogant nature and other being prime soldiers for their land.

 Cultural Information:

Clan Traits:

• The Kaguya are known for their stark white hair and pale skin. Due to their heavy focus on martial arts and weapon proficiency, Kaguya are typically lithe and lean. On occasion, there are those of the Kaguya that are larger and find it amusing to empashize being big boned. Due to their regenerative and bone manipulating abilities, the Kaguya are not familiar with modesty. In their personality, usually they are arrogant and risk taking. They are comfortable with their nakedness and often find it tiresome to wear clothing they know they will end up destroying.

Clan Outlook:

• The Kaguya have always been a family of tides.  Due to their war mongering and elitist pride, their population often fluctuates between massively large and uncomfortably small.  During the NCIA war, many had been hunted for fear of rebellion, which reduced their numbers with many enlisting in the military and other captured for experiments. The Kaguya have since had a surge in population. The clan is a significant splinter of the Kirigakure military force. The more brutal and dangerous the mission is, the more support the Kaguya will throw at it.

Clan Professions:

• Very few of the Kaguya do not decide to become ninja. Those who decline are usually killed by the clan. The KAguya require military service, but are lenient if some members decide to develop their artistic side and take to theater.

Clan Bloodline;

Shikotsumyaku | Dead Bone Pulse | 屍骨脈
Advanced System
The Kaguya were the lost and forgotten child of the Mother of All Things; Otsutsuki Kaguya. Even bearing her name, they were disregarded in the likes of the Hyuuga, the Uchiha and the Senju as the four decedants of Kaguya. When stripped of mythical eyes and sagely energies, the last remaining genetic boon Kaguya gave her children was her own body. Not every member of the Kaguya clan unlocks their birthright, but due to their ferocity and unmistakable prowess, those who do not are not remembered. Those that do not find other ways of being deadly. The Dead Bone Pulse allows for the manipulations of one's own bones. By fusing the calcium in their bones with chakra, they are able to remove and regrow their macabre bones. Due to this, the physiology of every Kaguya is not like the typical human, making medical intervention extremely difficult. Many had sought to scientifically understand the Kaguya but few efforts proved successful. For this reason it was thought they became near extinct: the family knew only to break, not to mend. The members in Kirigakure were all but nothing for generations saved only by the Bloody Mists unlikely ally, the Water Daimyo. Due to the Shodai Kyoukage that the Kaguya were reborn in Otogakure. Today these gardeners continue to fill the earth with blood.
Cost: Activation: 7.5% Total Chakra and Stamina | Upkeep: 5% Total Chakra and Stamina
Restriction: Other advanced regeneration skills are suspended while this is active.

Alien Physiology
Description: As observed by anyone who tries to operate on a Kaguya, they will find that their physiology operates on its own accord. While it is close to a normal body, there are distinct differences in bone, joint and vein structure. Alterations in blood flow and the nervous system make it difficult for traditional medicines to work in tandem with a Kaguya's natural regenerative properties.
Effect: For every rank of Immortal Vessel, total healing techniques towards this character is 10% less effective.
Cost: +1

Immortal Vessel
Description: While not the most obvious ability of the Shikotsumyaku, the body of a Kaguya is given the innate ability to regenerate itself. It is most notable in its ability to regenerate the bones of the body, but over years of evolution their regeneration does not end at the bones. A Kaguya's skin may close in response to a wound, because of calcium deposits that rush towards the open site. With each break, cut and bruise, their bodies become more durable and is one of the many reasons the Kaguya were sought out by Orochimaru to become his next vessel.
Effect: While Shikotsumyaku is active the user will regenerate 3% (rounded up) of their total Health per turn per rank of this skill.

Requirement: Alien Physiology
Cost: -2 per rank, ranks may be purchased every 15 levels
Max Ranks: 5

Bone Pulse Reaver
Description: The warriors of the Dead Bone Pulse gain a jolt to their fighting prowess when their bones come alive. The calcium in their bodies deposit along key points in their hands and feet and make blows against their opponents even mightier. The brute force of the Kaguya savages are nearly unparalleled, whereas typical fighters employ tactics, these ninja rely on brute force. Due to their strong bodies, the Kaguya often do not fight as teams. They often see themselves as armies of one and indestructible against any foe.
Effect: While Shikotsumyaku is active the user will gain +1.25x% (rounded up) Taijutsu per rank of this skill, where the value of x is equal to the level of the user.

Requirement: Alien Physiology
Cost: -1 per rank, ranks may be purchased every 15 levels
Max Ranks: 4

Bone Sculpting
Description: The corner stone of the Kaguya legend lies in their ability to use their own bones as weapons in battle. Not only do they refuse to be without a weapon and backed into a corner, but the Kaguya bone weapons are versatile and may vary in terms of durability, might and ease of attack. As the body of the Kaguya becomes stronger, so too do their immortal bones. Any bone that is removed from the body immediately regenerates. The limb may have a delay before it is useful again, but a Kaguya battlemaster does not give their prey time to realize that.
Effect: The user may activate this skill as a Setup Phase action to begin to create a 'Bone Weapon'. A 'Bone Weapon' is a Medium Weapon with a level equal to x + (0.5xy) , rounded up. The value of x is equal to the user's level. The value of y is equal to the amount of Setup Phase actions spent creating this weapon, including the turn it was activated. Setup Phase actions used creating a 'Bone Weapon' do not need to be sequential, and may never exceed 5. As a free action in their Main Phase, the user may 'release' the 'Bone Weapon', ending its creation and equipping it. Upon 'releasing' the weapon, the user may spend levels according to the 'Level Economy' chart below to give the weapon additional effects. This weapon lasts until it is destroyed, until the end of battle, or if the bloodline is deactivated.

Requirement: Alien Physiology
Cost: -4

Blade Wrecker
Description: The weapons harvested out of their own bodies can be made stronger than any crafted steel. The bones of a Kaguya have been known to shatter swords and cleave chakra infused blades alike. This ability is what earned Shikotsumyaku the renown as one of the greatest taijutsu abilities.
Effect: Once per battle per rank in this skill the user may add the status effect 'Destroy Weapon' to a strike of an attack made with a 'Bone Crafted' weapon.
Cost: -1 per rank

Requirement: Alien Physiology
Max Ranks: 3

- 40 levels: The user's weapon is considered to be a Large weapon.

Clan Skills;

Kaikashin Buyō | 開花芯舞踊 | Flowering Marrow Dance

Description: Though time has divided the nuance in motion between the Kirigakure and Otogakure branches of the Kaguya clan, their most basic combat principles remain unified by a singular style. Kaikashin Buyō is a graceful method of combat that visibly demonstrates the core of the Kaguya philosophy. Each technique, and even the style itself, is named for a dance that serves as a violent interpretation on the world that the Kaguya inhabit. Through these aptly named dances, the Kaguya perform the art of making ribbons of their opponents utilizing little more than the strength inherent to their unique physiology. As a Kaguya glides across the battlefield, they will erupt bone spines across their body and sheer away their opponent’s flesh with each surge of motion or whirling pirouette. What makes this style truly fearsome is that it serves both as a potent offense and a considerable defense. The spines utilized to attack targets serve a twin purpose as sharp deterrents for would-be attackers.
Effect: Allows for the accumulation of “Blossom” charges. A Blossom charge is generated whenever a Kaikashin Buyō technique successfully strikes its target and whenever this character successfully Blocks an attack. A Blossom charge is lost whenever this character takes physical damage from an enemies attack and doesn't block it, or when a bone crafted weapon is destroyed. Blossom charges are utilized in the following ways:

● ● This ability must be declared in the attacks dodge roll to be considered a valid use. Blossom charges may be spent in the Response Phase, as a free action, before any action is taken. Spending Blossom charges in this way increases this character’s chance to block by 4X where X is equal to the number of Blossom Charges spent. [A maximum of five charges may be spent in this way].
● ● Two Blossom Charges may be spent during the setup phase to add 3 turns of Choking to a Kaikashin Buyō technique used in the main phase this turn.
● ● When activating a Kikaishin Buyo Taijutsu, the user may spend x Blossom Charges. If they do, increase the base damage by 4X%, additionally the attack gains +1X% critical strike chance [A maximum of 5 charges may be spent this way].

Clan Techniques;

Tobiume no Mai | 飛梅の舞 | Dance of the Flying Plum Tree
Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō ]
Rank: Jōnin
Cost: 100 Stamina
Damage: 100
Effect: The target of this technique is afflicted with 1 turn of [Vulnerable]. If Shikotsumyaku is active when this technique is used, the user may opt to spend one (1) Blossom Charge to deal this technique’s damage instead as Bleeding damage.
Description: In combat, controlling the flow of an opponent’s actions is as important as maintaining one’s own rhythm. Tobiume no Mai capitalizes on this principle by attacking the opponent’s joints. First, the user will sweep at a target’s ankles, then roll onto their shoulder and spin to deliver several kicks to the target’s knees and hips. The dancer then pushes themself off the ground and flips, driving their heels into the target’s armpits as they right themselves. If the dancer is keen to do so, they may also incorporate the use of their kekkei genkai to instead inflict
Cost: 3 JP

Kunugi no Mai | 櫟の舞 | Dance of the Sawtooth Oak
Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō ]
Rank: Jōnin
Cost: 40x Stamina
Damage: --
Effect: The target of this technique is afflicted with [bleeding: 100x] for one turn. If the user is wielding a weapon generated through Shikotsumyaku: Honeokori, this technique is considered to be a Weapon Technique utilizing the equipped weapon. X in this technique’s cost may never exceed 3.
Description: The Dance of the Sawtooth Oak is a technique lauded for its visceral nature and ability to inflict lasting damage on its victims. The user will take a bone-weapon in hand and a combination of slashes and stabs at the target’s joints, using precision strikes to inflict heavy bleeding. If the user is not presently wielding a weapon, they may ever so slightly increase the hardness and length of their nails and strike at a target with their bare hands.
Cost: 4 JP

Hinoki no Mai | 檜の舞 | Dance of the Cypress
Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō | Hijutsu; Shikotsumyaku | Response Phase | Shield ]
Rank: Jōnin
Cost: 40x Stamina and 10x Chakra
Shield Health: 100x
Effect: This technique creates a Shield and may be used in either the Main or Response Phases. X in the cost of this technique may never exceed 7. This technique may only be used twice per battle in each respective Phase. When utilized in the Response Phase, this technique has a 5% chance to fail and does not prevent Dodge Rolling but must be mentioned in the roll being made. The user of this technique may opt to suspend the effect(but not the upkeep) of Shikotsumyaku: Kenkousonomono during a turn in which this technique is active; the Shield generated through this technique will regain durability equal to 66%(rounded up) of the Health that this character would have normally regenerated. This shield lasts for three (3) turns when used in the Main Phase.
Description: The Dance of the Cypress is one of the least dance-like maneuvers in a Kaguya’s arsenal. The user will utilize their kekkei genkai to produce a subdermal layer of durable bone over a variable amount of their musculature, greatly increasing their durability. However, the process of forming such fine structures is not painless and results in many uneven twitches across the user’s body, resulting in its classification as a “dance”. Given the subdermal nature of this technique’s structures, the Kaguya’s regenerative qualities may occasionally repair damage sustained to the bone shielding.
Cost: 18 JP

Yanagi no Mai | 柳の舞 | Dance of Willows
Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Shikotsumyaku | Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō | Response ]
Rank: Chūnin
Cost: 100 Stamina | 20 Chakra
Damage: See Effect;
Effect: This technique may be utilized in the Main or Response Phases:

Main Phase: When used in the Main Phase, this technique lasts for 3 turns. While this technique is active, characters that successfully damage the user with Physical Damage are automatically dealt 20 Unmodified Damage. If the user is Critically Hit or successfully Blocks a technique while this technique is active, the user may choose to reduce the active duration of this technique by one (1) turn to increase the Unmodified Damage dealt to 40. This technique generates one Blossom Charge. This technique may only be used in the Main Phase twice per battle.

Response Phase: This technique may be used in the Response Phase before dodge rolls have been made and does not prevent the user from rolling to dodge. When used in the Response Phase, this technique increases the user’s chance to block by 30% for the duration of that Phase; for each attack from a seperate source blocked, this character generates 1 Blossom charge. This technique does not consume Setup or Main Phase action, but has a 10% chance to fail per rank of the unresolved attack when performed. This technique must be referenced in the dodge roll that it is affecting and may be used two (2) times per battle in the Response Phase.

Description: Willows possess a great inherent bit of flexibility, and so do the masters of the Kaguya style. Like a tree, the bones of the Kaguya will emerge from beneath the skin, sprouting a tiny forest of boney spikes. Using the bones to parry and knock attacks aside, the Kaguya will begin to rotate, swaying to and fro, causing attacks to either glance off of an extended bone or to miss entirely. Like the willow they will sway in the breeze, remaining rooted unless they absolutely need to move. The graceful sway of this dance often allows its users to dislodge and fling their spines at a ranged attacker under cover of their own attack.
Cost: 8 JP

Matsubayashi no Mai | 松林の舞 | Dance of The Pine Forest
Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Shikotsumyaku | Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō | Area of Effect ]
Rank: Chūnin
Cost: 50 Stamina | 10 Chakra
Damage: 30 Damage
Effect: This jutsu is an AoE.
Description: Much like the more basic version of this dance, the Dance of the Pine Forest causes hundreds of bony slivers to sprout from the user’s body, coating them like a porcupine. A rapid rotation of the user’s body causes the slivers to shoot out across the battlefield, stabbing everyone in the user’s way.
Cost: 2 JP

Tsubaki no Mai | 椿の舞 | Dance of the Camellia I

Type: Taijutsu [ Hijutsu; Kaikashin Buyō | Multi-Strike | Evolving ]

Cost: 125 Stamina

Damage: 40 Damage Per Strike

Effect: This jutsu is a Multi-Strike jutsu that always uses 3 Strikes. If the user is wielding a weapon generated through Honeokori when this technique is used, treat this jutsu as if it were a [Weapon] jutsu utilizing the equipped Honeokori weapon. The user may spend 1 "Blossom Charge" when they use this jutsu. If they do, then while calculating dodge rolls for the first strike, reduce the target's evasion modifier by 2x%, where x is the number of Blossom Charges the user currently has. While calculating dodge rolls for the second strike, reduce the target's evasion modifier by 3x%. While calculating dodge rolls for the third strike, reduce the target's evasion modifier by 4x%. If Honeokori was utilized to create a bladed weapon during the Setup Phase of this turn, then all strikes in this jutsu also gain "Reduce the opponent's roll to dodge this strike (after all modifications) by 2X."

Description: Tsubaki no Mai is considered an unquestioning staple among the Kaguya clan’s elaborate dances. This dance is one without a dedicated selection of steps and follows a rather cacophonous rhythm- and it is in its chaotic strikes that the dance finds its power. The dancer will strike rapidly at their opponent’s head and upper torso with such speed that several afterimages are produced, effectively burying the target under an unrelenting cadence of patternless blows. Though Tsubaki no Mai is most typically performed with a bladed weapon, particularly one produced by the Kaguya’s own skeletal structures, the dance may be performed with any available limb or weapon.

Rank: Chūnin
Cost: 90 Stamina
Damage: 30 Damage Per Strike

For each strike that hits, the target will receive 20 Bleed Damage. Any Bleed Damage incurred by this jutsu is delayed by one response phase.
Description: Named after the noble Red Maple, this particular dance of the Kaguya focuses on speed. The Kaguya will rush in, often using a weapon of some kind. Quickly, they will dart around the opponent, intentionally deliver a series of near-misses before finally piercing the enemy. The opponent will fight on, unaware of a small series of lacerations caused by the “near misses.” As the battle rages, the lacerations will tear open until they are large enough to cause considerable pain and blood loss, often occurring long after the opponent was struck.

RP Effect: User gains a “Bone Mask” to wear. You know what a mask does.
Description: Designed to capitalize on the fear of their clan, The Venetian Mask involves the user intentionally putting on a display. Their bones ripple under the skin, pulsing and moving, occasionally breaking free, before the ninja in question puts a hand to the face and pulls lightly. From their face, a mask of bone will sprout, until it covers the head near completely. Each Kaguya’s mask is different, often based on their personality and the desired effect on the target. Some Kaguya will wear the mask as a day to day affair, aiding with their stealthier missions. Then, when it comes time for battle, they will alter their masks into a more fearsome look, often simulating multiple attackers, or just to strike fear anew.
