The Ryūmon Clan [Kiri Branch] (WIP)

The Ryūmon Clan | 竜門一族 | Ryūmon Ichizoku

Kirigakure Branch

“People like to think of Dragons as great predators and dangers. No one ever thinks of it from the dragon's point of view, and sees it as a noble protecting his territory and wards. ”
-Doragon “Erairyū” Kodate; Last Clan Head of the Unified Ryūmon Clan.

Place(s) of Origin: Ryūmonshima | 竜門島 | Dragongate Island, a currently half-sunken island territory in the eastern oceans located between the Major Shinobi Countries known as the Country of Water, and the Country of Lightning.
Current Homeland: Mizu no Kuni | The Land of Water | 水の国
Village of Residence: Kirigakure no Sato | The Village Hidden in the Mist | 霧隠れの里

The Ryūmon Clan within Kirigakure no Sato still has somewhat firm ties with their cousins in Kumogakure no Sato and further abroad, but is functionally its own clan outside of the reigns of the Kumogakure Branch, especially in the aftermath of the NCIA war and with the Ryūmon Clansmen still within the Country of Water during that period, being blamed for their Rai no Kuni cousin's actions all too often.

Clan Progenitor: The Accepted Traditional Clan Progenitor of the Ryūmon Clan is the protector of the island and villages of the same name, the last 'great ancient dragon', a creature known as Ebiryū a great deep purple dragon who's scales were almost black. In actuality, the origins of the clan lie within the three village children who became his disciples (according to myth), Gaidoku, Darai, and Souchou, who went on to found the Mimizuto, Doragon, and Tobitoka families within the clan itself.

Clan Head(s): Mimizuto Hikari – Family Head of the Mimizuto Family, who live exclusively within The Water Country.
Doragon Mikoto – Family Head of the Water Country Branch of the Doragon, and the Doragon family as a whole.

Clan Status: Mistrusted. While they were always somewhat well liked, and not considered powerful enough to be anything more than a 'nuisance' by those who distrusted them, their clan's cross channel ties in The Country of Lightning do not help them, and the actions of members of the Ryūmon Clan during the NCIA Era, no matter if it was by a Rai no Kuni Ryūmon clansman or a Mizu no Kuni Ryūmon clansman, are not forgotten. Even five or more years later, they are viewed with some mistrust by certain villagers and countrymen within the Country of Water.

Outside of Mizu no Kuni, they are generally either partially unknown, or are viewed amicably, especially in countries where the Ryūmon Clansmen had a firm hand in the efforts of those countries' successful resistance movement (or in the case of Kumogakure no Sato, a firm activity within the NCIA).

Clan Age: Moderate; The Ryūmon clan is old enough to have been 'forgotten in the annals of time' as to its exact origins, but is not so old that it can say it definitively existed before the existence of the Village Hidden in the Mist or the other Shinobi Villages. Many scholars believe it was formed sometime near the original founding of the villages, spurned by events upon Ryūmonshima by the actions of ninja in the service of the various factions around during the late 'shinobi clan' era, which preceded the existence of the hidden villages.
