Fielding Chaos: Inuzuka Mimi VS Fuhgahkra Tanbut-Zahra

Recommended Posts

Far from the violence of the continent’s most recent war lies the small, destitute village of Mushi. Nestled on the Hi-Denchi border, this settlement lies far closer to the shinobi village of Otogakure than their own Konoha, and this fact shows in everything from its tumbledown shanties to its haggard populace. The drought, though not as debilitating for the good people of Mushi as it is for their northern neighbors, has advanced to and beyond the borders of this village. Despite the ever-worsening conditions they live in, these are a simple people continue to work their land in hopes of better times to come - though perhaps none are quite as simple as one young girl, rifling through their sparse fields, following her orders far too literally while searching for both the last of her quarry and a greater reason behind why she needs to find them.

---

“Ugh..." hunched over on all fours, Inuzuka Mimi reached one of her long, slender arms into a hole. She kept her eyes closed, “seeing” more through her gloved fingers and under-developed Chakra-sense than she could ever hope to through the dirt. Her outstretched hand butted against a stone, slid into the entrance of a secondary tunnel, before finally squishing against something soft and fuzzy that radiated the barest glimmer of natural energy. Her fingers wrapped around the fat, furry thing and she pulled it out slowly while it remained unconscious. One of Genjutsu’s many benefits was that it didn’t care for walls, or armor, or, evidently, the dirt beneath our feet - there was nowhere this creature could hide, once her dog’s caught its scent.

The Inuzuka girl stared down at the mole’s odd, sleeping face and felt nothing but pity for it (... well, okay, maybe a little disgust too. They’re ugly!). Why on Earth was she being sent to hunt these things again!? She’s a Chuunin now! A newly promoted one, sure, but how many Leaf ninja specialize in illusions? Surely there were more important tasks she could be assigned! Mimi couldn’t understand what her superiors would want with this much mole meat anymore than she could understand the significance of a mission called “mole hunt.”

The animal in her hand stirred, breaking Mimi from her thoughts. Right, then. She had a mission to complete, even if it (or she) was stupid. At least this was the last one... A quick strike with a kunai split the mole’s brainstem, and the small creature quickly passed. She stood to toss the corpse into the bag she had been carrying the others in, but caught sight of her dogs first. “Kiku! Kiita! What do you think you’re doing?! Hands on her hips, the lanky pre-teen glared down at her two pups as her normally quiet voice filled the field - a trick she had learned from her own mother, in fact - attracting the attention of the farmhands that worked the field. They muttered amongst themselves before putting some more distance between themselves and the agitated ninja. Her temper was flaring again, something that would never happened six months ago before the war started, but was something that was becoming only too common now. For their part, her dogs stared back at Mimi, wide-eyed and silent, mouths filled with mole flesh and ears laying back against their heads.

Kiita’s face fell towards the ground, embarrassed by her lack of self-control, but Kiku swallowed her food and a sly smile spread across her face. Expecting something, Mimi’s eyes focused on the little yellow dog and narrowed. When Kiku finally began to bark out a response, Mimi’s lips pursed and mood soured: “Well… sharing is caring, Mimi.” Kiku pat Kiita with a paw to catch the larger dog’s attention. “Sharing is caring, right? Why won’t Mimi share with us?”

Mimi sucked her teeth and scowled, “Oh no you don’t, Kiku -”

“Don’t you care about us? Then why won’t you share with us?” Kiita’s face bounced from Kiku’s to Mimi’s repeatedly as the gears in her head started to turn. Unable to catch on to what Kiku was doing, but still capable of putting two and two together, Kiita fell for Kiku’s words. Staring at her sister, Kiita asked, “Mimi… doesn’t care about us?”

The Inuzuka Chuunin pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. Today could not end soon enough. “Of course I care about you! But this meat is for our bosses.”

Kiku looked at Kiita and began to chant, as the larger dog got more and more upset: “She’s not sharing, she’s not caring!”

“Oh no, Kiku, stop it!

“Mimi doesn’t care about us!”

“Inuzuka Kiku!”

Kiita, confused and upset, shot Mimi the saddest eyes she could as Kiku laughed uncontrollably.

When Fuhgahkra was told that he would be taking on a mole hunt mission...this was not the thing he had in mind. Fuhgahkra and a few others were in the isolated village of Mushi. It was strange, being near the land of sound, the weather was completely different than what had been going on in the land of fire. The snow and smothered greenery was replaced by a hot beam of heat but dead greenery. The brown skinned ten year old held his Konohagakure headband around his head, his mission attire updated. No longer wearing plain clothes but now having a chunnin chest on. With permission he was allowed to alter it slightly, edging the symbol to the now destroyed Village Hidden in the Grass to his shoulder pads. While the swirls of the Uzumaki clan were still on the back. He was officially a chunnin now, a fact that made him proud but nervous at the same time. This meant more responsibility, duties...not what he was expecting today.

Kneeing down on the ground Fuhgahkra was patting his hands on the ground, an attempt yo use his earth ninja to locate the moles they were tracking. No spy or anything like that, plain old animals. A burst of earth was split as the mole was pushed out of its hole with a blast. A earth mini tower was up, with the helpless mole on top.

At least that was what Fuh thought. Fuh looked up at the mole as it looked down at him. It looked...different.  A gust of wind came then…silence. The earth ninjust collapsed, and the mole fell and disappeared. Fuhgahkra stood emotionless before slowly weaving hand signs. A burst of green smoke came before 12 Fuhs appeared and began ransacking items and equipment as well as punching anyone nearby.
