Ninja Academy 8.2.3
(Legacy Unlocks, Summons and Seals, Follower Missions,
Diversity Bonus, and Self Defense!)

Welcome members!

Patch 8.2.3 is here! Following the foundation laid by 4.1.0 and the knowledge we have continued to gain by studying the Battles that happened during and after the Akatsuki Invasion of Iwagakure, we've made a few changes to bring things back to a more reasonable state. Lets take a look at the changes!

As always, if you have any concerns about these changes and how they effect your character please contact myself or a staff member and we can help you!

Legacy Unlocks

We are excited to announce a new systems for Ninja Academy called the "Legacy" system! As many of you are aware (or should be), the world of Ninja Academy takes place approximately 120 years after the events of Naruto. (Almost) All canon characters from that time have passed on, but their legacies still exist! For the first time we are allowing characters to gain access to a few potent drops of their ancestor's blood, fueling their powers and giving major flavorful impacts to the world of NA!

Going forward this system will only be for new players, but we are allowing current characters a chance at these bonuses. Like a Death Bonus, a player may only have one character with a Legacy Unlock. This character can be one with a Death Bonus or not, that is up to the player. (Go ahead! Put all of those eggs in one basket! Bandit D will come for you!)

Please check out the main site page for Legacy Unlocks for more information! Any currently approved character is eligable for a short time, so go ahead and get rolling*!

Summons and Their Seals

So recently it was brought to our attention that many summons do not have opposable thumbs. Not a problem for normal animals! But normal animals don't need to use Ninjutsu and Genjutsu on a regular basis. This was something that just kind of fell through the cracks, and frankly, we never even stopped to think about it. But we've fixed it! The following line has been added to 8.02: Summoning Rules.

New

- A summon may use jutsu as if they had two hands free to make seals so long as they have all forefront appendages available for normal use. In the event that your summon does not have forefront appendages (slugs, snakes, etc.) the summon most be capable of speaking in a clear tone and not under the effects of 'Impaired Speech'.

Follower Missions

As characters grow older everyone gets a little Kakashi or Iruka bite and wants a team of toddlers nipping at their heels. There is something satisfying about having your own team, its a mark of a successful ninja. All the coolest kids had it. Minato, Jiraya... Iruka... Now you can have your own! Follower missions allow Jounin+ characters to sweep up a team of three NPC Genin to do their errands for them and clean your house! Check out the rules below!

Diversity Bonus

As Ninja Academy passes its 10th year anniversary we are looking back and realizing just how far we have come as a community. Over the years we have gone from a group of mostly young unworldly teens to a group of young professionals who all enjoy a little bit of ninja wizard on the side. We come from all walks of life and a great diversity of backgrounds. As a tenant of good role play we have had many "informal" rules for character approval that we tried to steer people away from. Well it is time to stop thinking in terms of "no's" and instead in terms of "yes". So rather than steer players away from characters they create and tropes they fall into we are going to do the opposite. We are going to reward those that role play from a different walk of life than the average ninja! I could talk about this in depth, but it would be best if you check it out yourself!

Self Defense

There was problem with the old wording of Self Defense that created some very strange situations, especially when interacting with other Hindering Skills. As such, we have updated the wording to a much more comprehensible set. Check it out!

Old

Self-Defense
You have a soft heart, one that does not like violence. You may have chosen the wrong career path.
User does not get a turn in battle until an opponent has a turn. If all characters have this skill, ignore the effects.
+2 SP

New

Self-Defense
You have a soft heart, one that does not like violence. You may have chosen the wrong career path.
For the first three (3) turns of battle you do not get a Main Phase action until an opponent takes an action that causes you to dodge -or- uses a terrain -or- uses a climate -or- makes use of a construct creation that takes an offensive action against any of your allies in the visible area. If the attack is within hearing distance and you are not (0) inflicted by 'Impaired Hearing' you may roll 1d10. On the result of a 3, 5, 7 or 9 you may take Main Phase actions as normal. In addition, you may not attack an opponent unless that opponent has attacked you -or- uses a terrain -or- uses a climate -or- makes use of a construct creation that takes an offensive action against any of your allies in the visible area.

Dearest NA Members,

It is with great regret that I must bring to attention an error with the above post. In our haste to create the above changes, we were hasty in our execution and need to amend a few changes. Please check the list below for a full set of changes.

It was all made up. Self-Defense and Summons will get a change, but these are not them.

Follower Missions

When a character reaches Jounin rank they are able to take on up to three NPC Genin followers. These followers have their own sheets that must be approved as normal character (although miniature) and can then be used to complete missions on a weekly basis. The Jounin must do a minimum amount of RP training with their Genin in which they earn half the EXP per line that they would normally in order to get their missions for each week. The minimum and their bonuses are listed below.

General Rules

- A player must be Jounin rank in order to get a Follower team of three (3) genin maximum.

- In order to send your Genin on missions each week you must complete x amount of training minimum, see below.

- A player may not complete more than the listed amount of missions per week.

- Genin character sheets must be approved before missions can be taken.

- The week resets on Sunday nights at 11:59pm Central Standard Time.

- A GM may give you a specialized Follower Mission with specific rewards that take into account the Genin's statistics.

How to Create Genin

- User the following sheet to create Genin followers: Follower Sheet

- Post the sheet like a normal character in Character Creation.

- Once approved, Genin Followers can be added to your own sheet, preferably in their own post.

Weekly Training

- The player must complete at least 500 words of training each week with their team to complete any missions in that week.

- When training with your team, the player's character receives half the normal EXP they would gain for the training session.

- For every 500 words over the minimum a player trains they can complete one (1) additional mission that week, to a maximum of five (5).

Genin Follower Missions

- A Genin Follower may not complete multiple missions at a time.

- When starting a mission, choose how many Genin Followers you are sending on the mission.

- Choose whether you want to complete a D rank or C rank mission.

- For each Genin sent on a single mission, reduce the time required by six (6) hours.

- D Rank: Roll 1d12. Your result plus twelve (12) hours is how long your mission will take in real life time. This time starts at the time of the roll.

- C Rank: Roll 1d24. Your result plus twenty four (24) hours is how long your mission will take in real life time. This time starts at the time of the roll.

- When a mission completes you roll for your rewards.

- D Rank: $40+1d20 and 50+1d50 EXP.

- C Rank: $60+1d40 and 75+1d75 EXP.

Village Diversity Bonus

In an effort to keep role play diverse and interesting for all, every village and character is eligible for a number of various Diversity Perks. What do we mean by diversity? Well I am glad you asked, because diversity comes in many shapes and sizes! Here are some examples of diversity, but feel free to suggest your own at character creation! No idea is a bad idea!

- Race (Non-Asian)

- Gender (Non-Male)

- Sexuality (Non-Hetero)

- Age (Not Between 12-22)

- Religion (Non-Shinto)

- Body Shape (Unfit; Obese or Overtly Petite)

- Two (2) Living Parents (Human, not wolves | Bonus if you live with them!)

- Monetary Situation (Not Poor or Rich, Just Middle Class)

So what does this mean? Well once you have created your character, as part of your character creation process you will be given a Diversity Score that will be kept near your level. This is a value between 0 and 100 that indicates how diverse your character is. The higher the number the more diverse you are and the better perks you give to yourself and those that role play with you (You learn more from those that are different than yourself!). You can even rack up bonuses for your village! Let's check out some of these Diversity Perks!

Diversity Perks

Diversity Score: 0-20

- No Perks.

Diversity Score: 21-40

- +$50 at Character Creation.

Diversity Score: 41-60

- +$100 at Character Creation.

- +5% EXP to self for levels 1-20.

- +.25 EXP per line to others when training.

Diversity Score: 61-80

- +$200 at Character Creation.

- +15% EXP to self for levels 1-20.

- +.5 EXP per line to others when training.

Diversity Score: 81-100

- +$300 at Character Creation.

- +25% EXP to self for levels 1-20.

- +1 EXP per line to others when training.

Lastly, we mentioned village perks earlier. What does that mean? Well the more approved characters your village has with large diversity scores, the more bonuses all players in that village will receive! Societies that accept others and work together grow the fastest and are the most beneficial to live in! These amounts are determine based on the total Diversity Score of all approved characters in their Ninja List. Let's look at the bonuses you can receive!

Village Diversity Perks

These bonuses stack!

Village Diversity Score: 200+

- +2% Money from Missions.

Village Diversity Score: 400+

- +2% EXP from Training within Country.

Village Diversity Score: 600+

- -5% on purchases within Country.

Village Diversity Score: 800+

- +5% Money from Missions.
