  8. Cultural Information: General Clan Info: They are considered to be a lesser shinobi clan in Kumogakure no Sato since their focus is placed more on civilian matters than military matters. The clan actually holds two estates, a smaller one in Kumogakure no Sato and a larger one in Stormhold. Although they are in different cities, the clan still holds one head who, despite being an accomplished shinobi, tends to be bogged down with red tape and paperwork. Life for clan members is very family centric and education driven. Parents start extra curricular education of their children as early as 4 and continue all throughout the child’s stay at either the Ninja Academy or the primary education of Stormhold. Most parents are strict about education but at the same time try to nurture a sense of imagination and creativity. The clan ideals are driven into member’s heads since birth and this results in producing some of the brightest individuals who drive most of the technological advances of Rai no Kuni as a whole. Ayakoshi shinobi make for deadly puppeteers as their efficient designs and propensity for modifying things makes their puppets more durable and their puppet parts more effective. The clan head is always a matriarch in honor of Ayakoshi Kumiko and individual families are often matriarchal in nature. Clan Traits: Members of the Ayakoshi clan are encouraged to partner with anyone that they choose. This has made for a veritable melting pot of physical traits. It isn’t uncommon for cousins of the same family unit to have different skin tones, varying heights, and even differing rates of facial hair growth. However, most clan members have very high standards when it comes to the intelligence of their partners which has caused Ayakoshi Clan members to share traits of high intellect and a curiosity for how things work. Clan Outlook: Clan Ideals - Effectiveness, Efficiency, Ingenuity. These are not only the core ideals that live in the heart of all Ayakoshi, but also the three steps to their design process. They are taught to ask themselves: “Could this be more effective?”, “Is it operating at maximum efficiency?”, “Is there a need that could be filled through a new approach?”. Heavy emphasis is placed upon Effectiveness and Efficiency at a young age because the clan elders firmly believe that a better society is built upon the shoulders of great individuals. Once a solid foundation has been laid with the first two ideals, instruction tends to switch towards Ingenuity as an individual reaches the end of their primary education. Critical thinking and creativity breed new inventions which are the lifeblood of advancing technology and therefore society. These ideals give the clan a unique outlook. Invasions and wars, though not looked upon with fondness, are sometimes viewed with a modicum of respect as long as they were executed effectively and efficiently. On the other hand, great deeds that have helped many people out can leave a bad taste in an Ayakoshi’s mouth if it wasn’t carried out in a manner that meets the standards of the first two ideals. Clan Professions: Ayakoshi Clan members gravitate towards professions where they can put their great minds to work. Many will be seen working as engineers, architects, and mechanics on a day to day basis. The Ayakoshi Institute of Learning in Stormhold also employs many of the clan as professors and administrators. Although not all clan members go this route, some of them choose the life of a professional shinobi and serve Kumogakure no Sato as accomplished puppeteers. Clan Estates: The clan has two estates. A smaller one in Kumogakure no Sato and a much larger one in Stormhold. The Kumogakure estate is located on the outskirts of the village but still within the walls whereas the Stormhold estate is integrated into the city design, making it more like it’s own neighborhood. Both estates have a very large community workshop at the center where all members are welcome to come work and help each other on various projects. It is the most highly guarded facility in both of the estates since a lot of sensitive information about the workings of Rai no Kuni can be gleaned by studying the blueprints and prototypes within. The homes at the Kumogakure estate are arranged in concentric circles around the community workshop so would-be invaders must pass through a gauntlet of accomplished puppeteers to reach the building. The Stormhold estate houses the Ayakoshi Institute of Learning as well as a community workshop. To the Ayakoshi Clan, both of these facilities are equally important but since the college is open to the public and the workshop is not, they are at opposite ends of the compound. The workshop, unlike the college, is guarded by troops from the Daimyo’s army since any Ayakoshi with skills of the shinobi are concentrated in the hidden village. The homes of this estate are organized in a manner that is consistent with the layout of the rest of Stormhold. Kumogakure no Sato Relationship: The clan has a very strong relationship with Kumogakure no Sato. The technological advances that have come from the Ayakoshi have helped the hidden village out in both times of war and times of peace. Those clan members that become professional shinobi are called upon to defend the village and are glad to do so.
  9. Noteworthy Clan Members: Ayakoshi Kumiko - Deceased Alias: The Great Innovator Gender: Female Shinobi Rank: Sennin Specialization: Puppets Info: Kumiko was the founder of the clan as well as the Bunraku. Ayakoshi Mai - Deceased Alias: Professor Gender: Female Shinobi Rank: Jounin Specialization: Puppets Info: Mai was the second head of the clan and the one responsible for establishing the Ayakoshi Institute of Learning. As one of the first professors, she was responsible for designing the curriculum. Ayakoshi Yuto - Alive Alias: None Gender: Non-binary Shinobi Rank: Jounin Specialization: Puppets Info: Yuto was the third head of the clan. Their most notable accomplishments are helping Tokeiza Jishin design the Stormshield and designing much of the architecture that is still used in the village today. Ayakoshi Aoi - Alive Alias: None Gender: Female Shinobi Rank: Jounin Specialization: Puppets Info: Aoi is the fourth and current head of the clan. Unlike most of the Ayakoshi, she places Ingenuity above all of the other ideals. This has ruffled a lot of feathers among the clan elders. She is currently in the process of creating a ruling council for the clan instead of a singular head that makes decisions unilaterally.
  10. Clan History: The clan was founded in the fall of 1925, shortly after the end of the first Great Shinobi War. The Raikage approached Ayakoshi Kumiko and tasked her with creating and implementing technological advances for the village and the country as a whole. Taking this duty very seriously, the Ayakoshi have had a hand in developing many of the technologies that have kept the village safe and functioning. The great Tokeiza Jishin had the help of many of the clan’s engineers in the years that it took him to develop the famed Stormshield. Many Ayakoshi also helped in the effort to create a transportation system that involved setting up a railroad system that tumbled through the mountains and although that project ultimately failed, there are still some in the clan who continue to try to make the design a reality. At the beginning of the Second Great Shinobi War, Ayakoshi Kumiko was called upon once again. Though she was no longer the head of the clan, she still held great sway over the clan as a whole and was approached to help found the Bunraku. This was a specialized force of puppeteers that is called upon in times of need to help defend the village. During the Kumogakure invasion, the Bunraku stayed behind in the village to guard against any attempt at a counter attack. Many other talented members of the clan, however, were assigned to the invasion force and some even served in the NCIA. The Ayakoshi clan was instrumental in helping develop the technology for the naval fleet that ultimately led to a victory against Kirigakure. Many engineers from the clan were also sent with the naval fleet to ensure that the vessels were running at peak condition.

  15. The Unkindness of Nishigari Species: Ravens Element: Wind Family Information On the peak of the highest mountain in the north most part of Yuki no Kuni, exists a frozen wasteland known as the Frosty Crag. This area is thought by most to be an inhospitable place due to the dangerously high winds and massive amounts of snowfall. At the center of this hellish landscape, however, is the village of the Nishigari. The structures in this village are large and circular with a messy, disheveled look to them. These abodes are made entirely of trees that seemed to have been ripped from the ground and packed tightly. Although each one at a distance looks like a pile of sticks that a child might have heaped together, upon closer inspection, you'll notice that they are airtight to keep the wind and snow out and the heat in. At one end of the village, away from all of the structures, is a large mound of frozen carrion. This mound is the stockpile from which the Nishigari feed themselves. The village does not require much in the way of defenses as the weather and winds keeps almost all who wish to enter out. There is stone obelisk in the middle of the structures that has the name of all summoners who hold contracts with them carved into it. The Nishigari vary in size depending on their age. The youngest of the Unkindness are about one foot in height and could easily rest in the palm of your hand, though they prefer to perch on one's arm or shoulder. The oldest of them have been known to be the size of human structures. Each has the exact same shade of iridescent black feathers though the chest feathers have white markings on them that are unique to the individuals. Their beaks and talons are dexterous enough to manipulate tools with fine precision while also being strong enough to be powerful weapons. Myths about the Nishigari have been passed down from generation to generation among the people of Yuki no Kuni to the point that nobody believes they are real. The isolationist nature of these creatures helps perpetuate this believe as encounters with humans are very rare. In these stories, the Nishigari are often spoken of as prophets that can foresee one's death and will seek you out when it is close. This has earned them the nickname of Kaze no Yogen-sha among the locals. The Nishigari are very intelligent and patient and will often sit back and watch situations unfold before acting, even if danger seems imminent. This inaction should not be confused with cowardice though as these birds are viciously fierce. They are solitary creatures and do not wish to interact with the world outside of their family. However, if an individual has proven themselves worthy and resourceful enough to find and make it to the village, they will train with them and most likely sign a summoner's contract. Their word is their bond and once a contract has been signed, they will be loyal to them until the summoner dies. Family Habitat The Unkindness of the Nishigari live in the Frosty Crag. The only plant life is short scrubby grass that grows in small patches and only during the summer when the permafrost thaws. At the altitude of the Crag, no fauna outside of the Nishigari can be found. The landscape is comprised of rock and ice and not much else. The winds constantly blow and only ever stop about once a year during the summer for three days. This is typically the day that the Unkindness will hunt. Food has to be found elsewhere on the mountain and brought back to the family stockpile where it is hoarded. Summons Level 0: [Name] Level 1: [Name] Level 2: [Name] Level 3: [Name] Level 4: [Name]
