Village Of Residence:

Clan Progenitor:

Unknown; More than a little history of the Uzumaki clan was lost when the village of Uzushiogakure was destroyed, among that information was the name of the first Uzumaki. It is known however, that the founder of the clan had come from the Senju clan.

Clan Head:

Uzumaki Kentaro & Uzumaki Haruka; A twin brother and sister each make up half of the headship of the Uzumaki clan. They are considered only the fourth clan head since the death of Uzumaki Naruto. While both Kentaro and Haruka are young, together the entire clan considers them more than capable of handling the issues that arise in the governance of a clan.

Clan Status:

Legendary; The Uzumaki clan was famous before the destruction of their homeland, and possibly became even more famous when they were thought to be extinct. The clan truly became legendary though, after the events of the Fourth Shinobi War, when all those of Uzumaki blood who had been in hiding united under Uzumaki Naruto.

Clan Age:

Old; As a clan that branched from the Senju in the hazy history before the founding of the first ninja villages, the Uzumaki are an old clan, but their heritage does not stretch back as some of the most ancient lineages. Some consider the Uzumaki a relatively new clan though, as they have only returned in number in the last few centuries.

20px-Uzushiogakure_Symbol.svg.png Clan History:

500px-Uzumaki-Senju_clans.png

The Uzumaki clan got its start in the warring era before the formation of the great ninja villages. The specifics of this clan's origin have long since been lost to the eddies of history, but it is well-known that the Uzumaki are descended from the Senju clan.

Shortly after the founding of Konohagakure No Sato, the Uzumaki clan became instrumental in the founding of another hidden village not far from their allied village. As a founding clan in Uzushiogakure No Sato, the Uzumaki were well respected, and viewed as one of the more powerful clans in the village due largely to the overwhelmingly strong life-force that seemed to occur within every member of the clan.

This abundance of life energy made the Uzumaki clan naturally more capable of surviving the sealing process that would bind a tailed beast to a human host. A series of treaties were made with Konohagakure and the Senju clan, and once in every generation a child of the Uzumaki clan would be sent to train with the shinobi of Konoha, and become the next jinchūriki of Kurama, the nine-tailed fox.

For generations this was a custom among the villages of Uzushiogakure and Konohagakure, but the Village Hidden in the Whirling Tides had developed a reputation that did it no favors. Uzushiogakure and the Uzumaki were feared by the world as a whole for their skill with sealing techniques, and envied for the unnatural longevity of their people. This lead to the ultimate downfall their ultimate demise. As one of the smaller shinobi villages, Uzushio did not have the protection of all of the treaties that were granted to the five great nations. It was a coalition of villages, most of whom remain unidentified to this day that joined forces to raise Uzushiogakure and the Uzumaki clan to the ground.

500px-Uzushio.png

Fortunately, many survivors escaped, and scattered to the four winds. Those Uzumaki who survived Uzushio's destruction went into hiding in villages all over the world. To protect Konohagakure, the Uzumaki enclave within Hidden Leaf village departed as well, leaving behind only a handful of the red-haired Uzumaki. It was not long before the symbols of Konoha's friendship with Whirlpool Village, and the Uzumaki was completely forgotten by most, leaving only a few symbols on some clothes to remind them of a dead country.

By this time in history, the Uzumaki clan was considered all but extinct, save one lonely boy, who had the misfortune of carrying the nine-tailed fox in his body. Uzumaki Naruto who was the descendant of a long line of powerful Uzumaki shinobi without realizing it, grew from an ostracized orphan into a savior of the shinobi world in a matter of a few short years. To this day he stands as a testament to the dedication of shinobi everywhere, and is a source of great pride for his clan.

It was the actions of that young man, who so strongly espoused the values of peace and understanding that brought his long lost clansmen out of their individual exiles, and returned to him a family that he had longed for all of his life.

With a strong new leader, and a new home, the Uzumaki clan once again began to flourish. Many of the old techniques that had made them such a powerful clan had been saved in scrolls, and in the minds of the long-lived clansmen, and so a rich culture began to renew itself in a welcoming new village.

After the death of Naruto, the clan continued to flourish, though it remained a modest size compared to many of the noble families of Konoha. They ingrained themselves into the workings of the village, with some becoming shinobi of great skill, while others contented themselves with performing the more mundane tasks that keeps a village running smoothly.

Many Uzumaki rose to power within the village, and their clan, but few made lasting impressions, as all Uzumaki have quite a large pair of shoes to fill in terms of ideals, power, aspirations, and legacy. When Kumogakure made their gambit to control all shinobi on the continent, Uzumaki clansmen were among the first in Konohagakure to rebel, aiding in the first resistance movements.

The war took its toll though, and many Uzumaki were kidnapped by the Kumo Empire to be used as experiments in bodily regeneration. Many had their bodies exploited so that their oppressor's troops could have greater longevity on the battlefield. Many times the clan had to stage rescue attempts to reunite with abducted clansmen.

After the war, the Uzumaki and Senju clans were instrumental in rebuilding areas of the village that had seen heavy fighting. The clan spent large amounts of money, and manpower in reconstructing the village exactly as it had been before the fighting.

At present the Uzumaki clan has dwindled in size since their boom after the Fourth Ninja War, much of this is due to heavy casualties during the Kumo War. They are still a relatively common site within Leaf Village, though, and they have been known as well loved, and highly respected members of the community for generations. The current clan heads work very hard to maintain this image, while also working to maintain a sense of strength about the clan to ensure that none ever attempt to destroy them again.

20px-Uzushiogakure_Symbol.svg.png Cultural Information:

Clan Traits:

• Like many clans, the Uzumaki have several features that make them easily identified. Red hair is extremely prominent in Uzumaki clansmen, with blonde coming in as a distant second. Because of their natural longevity, most Uzumaki appear robust and healthful well into old age. Common eye colors include, blue, green, and red. Uzumaki clansmen do not wear a uniform color, but many have at least some orange clothing to wear when they feel like venerating their most famous ancestor. An 'Uzumaki Smile' is a local term in Konohagakure for anyone with a particularly charming smile.

Clan Outlook:

• The Uzumaki clan is considered a very positive force in their community. They are by and large a peaceful group, and only take up arms when defense of the village is absolutely necessary. Those who are not shinobi can often be found performing various civil service jobs. As a clan, the Uzumaki are unflappably cheerful, and their winning smile is said to be infectious.

Clan Professions:

• The shinobi way is by and large the favorite occupation of anyone in the clan. There are other occupations in which the Uzumaki are particularly wanted. Hospitals never turn down an Uzumaki medical practitioner, for their strong recuperative powers. Uzumaki boys and girls often take summer jobs at Ichiraku Ramen.

Clan Estates:

• The Uzumaki don't own a traditional clan compound. Most own or rent apartments within the downtown area of Konohagakure. There is an Uzumaki Naruto memorial garden in the village that many Uzumaki clansmen frequent during their leisure time.

Clan Relations:

20px-Aburame_Symbol.svg.png Aburame Clan | Neutral

Though respectful of each other's abilities as a clan, neither the Aburame nor the Uzumaki are particularly friendly.

20px-Akimichi_Symbol.svg.png Akimichi Clan | Friendly

The Uzumaki have high regards for the Akimichi and their likable nature. Their willingness to protect their friends, and bravery are also traits the Uzumaki clan admires.

22px-Haruno_Symbol.png Haruno Clan | Allied

For many generations the Haruno and Uzumaki clans have been strongly united in their beliefs and positions on village politics. It is rare for them to stand apart on any issue.

22px-Logo_pakun.svg.png Hatake Clan | Friendly

Both being clans that do not come from noble backgrounds, the Uzumaki and Hatake generally get on quite well, but both being prideful, spars often break out over disputes of honor.

20px-Hy%C5%ABga_Symbol.svg.png Hyūga Clan | Friendly

The Hyūga are a reserved clan, and often blanch at the occasionally wild antics of the Uzumaki, but they remember well the valor of the clan, and treat them with respect.

20px-Inuzuka_Symbol.svg.png Inuzuka Clan | Neutral

Personalities that are too similar can often grate on each other. The Inuzuka and Uzumaki share many qualities, and these similarities cause them to get on each other's nerves. To remedy this, they usually avoid each other.

20px-Namikaze_symbol.png Namikaze Clan | Allied

The Uzumaki and Namikaze of Konoha may as well be one clan, as they are almost inseparable. They share many of the same clan heroes, and hold them in equally high esteem.

20px-Nara_Symbol.svg.png Nara Clan | Allied

The Uzumaki are vocal supporters of the Nara clan, which is a friendship that surprises many when first introduced to Konoha politics, but the two clans are firmly in each other's corner.

20px-Sarutobi_Symbol.svg.png Sarutobi Clan | Allied

The Sarutobi and Uzumaki clans are another one of those truly inalienable friendships. Though they maintain a friendly rivalry when it comes to most everything.

35px-Senju_Symbol.svg.png Senju Clan | Allied

The Senju clan remembers old treaties made by the Uzumaki clan, and treats them almost as an extension of their own clan.

20px-Uchiha_Symbol.svg.png Uchiha Clan | Allied

The alliance of the Uchiha with the Uzumaki clan was one that baffled many over the years, but to the two clans it was a natural choice. They often have heated rivalries between individual members.

20px-Yamanaka_Symbol.svg.png Yamanaka Clan | Friendly

Like the Akimichi and Nara, the Uzumaki thinks very highly of the Yamanaka who helped to embody much of what Konohagakure represents.

I really like what you've done with it, and would consider this my pending approval. Before that-- I thought that it was pretty generally accepted that we weren't going to re-introduce the Uzumaki as a PC clan? I mean, if staff changed their mind on the issue, consider this my full approval, but I thought they were pretty firm in their stance against it.

The big issue in the past was that there was nothing in the manga/anime that suggested Uzumaki was an actual clan with their own unique traits, abilities or history. Welp, that's no longer a concern:
