The Aburame Clan

In the darkness comes the melancholy chime of a bell. Made of silver and bright as the moon, its ringing call awakens the million eyes.
And so, the song of destruction begins.

Village: Konohagakure no Sato
Founder: Unknown
Clan Head: Aburame Shirone

Status: Well-known throughout the Elemental Nations
Element: Void/Aburame Hijutsu
Description: A clan of mysteries and secrets, so shrouded in mystery that very few know the true depths. It is known that the clan has existed for at least two centuries, but little else has been revealed about this secretive group to the general public. Its members are famous for being able to control the destruction bugs (or Kikaichu) that have proved a powerful threat time and time again. At birth, an Aburame child if so chosen is infused with the mystical bugs, the Kikai. These insects are not normal for they live inside the host's body at all times, feeding off their chakra and sharing their powers with the host in exchange. They are frequently used in attacks and can be used in guerilla strikes against the clan's enemies as well as being deplyed simply as an overwhelming tide. They are extremely useful allies, espcially against chakra based techniques. The users of these versatile insects have even found ways to send their bugs into a target and command them from great distances, slowly consuming the unfortunate victim from within.

As one of the Four Noble Clans of Konohagakure alongside the Akimichi, Hyuuga and Uchiha, the Aburame Clan had served as one of the village's most important clans since the founding of the village. Consistent, loyal and competent, Aburame Clan shinobi are generally taciturn, calculating and emotionally distant, though they do possess strong emotional values. Often specialising in stealth or capture techniques thanks to their insect's ability to devour and distort chakra, an Aburame shinobi is capable of acting in any team with equal efficiency, providing invaluable flexibility and versatility to the village infrastructure.

After achieving a level of skill and competence in the eyes of the village, Aburame ninja may choose to diversify their Kikaichu and accomodate one or more different kinds of insect maintained on clan grounds. Bikochu, insects with an exceptional sense of smell invaluable in tracking, counterintellgence and sensing. Kidaichu, A subtype of Kikaichu with the ability to grow to incredible sizes after the consumption of human flesh. Rinkaichu, the poisonous cellular-destruction beetles only usable with the correct genetic disposition and Shokaichu, a defensive insect specialising in distrpction of chakra and enemy sensors.

Kikai Hive Rules

-A Kikai Hive is worth 20CP.

-Kikai Hives can only be used with [Hijutsu; Aburame] techniques. Kikai Hives must be tracked in the character’s Loss Tag.

-All [Hijutsu; Aburame] techniques must include at least one Kikai Hive as part of its base cost; exemptions to this rule require the approval of the clan curator.

-Kikai Hives may be ‘Consumed’ as an additional cost to grant additional effects, as stated in the technique. These effects must be specified at the time of the technique’s creation. 'Consumed' Hives do not count towards Hives used on a technique.

-Kikai Hives are replenished at the end of each battle, except where GM discretion would decree otherwise.

-In instances where Kikai Hives add additional damage to a technique, that damage is a modifier and not part of the technique's base damage, unless otherwise stated.

-Techniques that utilize Kikai Hives may not cause a technique to exceed its usual CP cap, nor may they cause Status Effects to break their natural turn limits.

-When interacting with techniques that utilize Kikai Hives as part of its base cost, each Kikai Hive required by that technique is considered to add 20 to that technique's base cost.

Effectively, when creating a technique an Aburame must calculate its CP cost, then decide how many Hives they wish the technique to use. Then, reduce the overall cost of the technique by 20 for each Hive used. A technique that costs 80 Chakra could cost 60 Chakra and 1 Hive, or 40 Chakra and 2 Hives and so on.

Each Kikai Hive used in this way lowers Total Cost by 20.

This defect also makes her a pariah of the clan, though opinions are slowly changing with the rise of the new generation.
