Clan Age:

Old. The Chitoka clan benefited from both the cover of the mist as well as their unsurpassed sensor abilities. Throughout history the clan was often employed by totalitarian leaders who wished to keep a tight regime on their citizens, with brutal efficiency. With Chitoka's services being so well accosted, their ability to sense and thus hide from danger and the cover of the mist this clan has survived the centuries and thrived. With the clan low being during the Bloodline purge in the land of Water. Where many, including the Chitoka, lost their lives.

 

Clan Status:

Alive and thriving. The Chitoka clan aligned itself with Kirigakure fairly soon after it's creation. At first being an aligned but not in residency clan. Soon the Chitoka clan decided on a double residency. Where many of the clan's youth live in Kirigakure. And the older clan members go back to the old clan estate outside of the village to retire.

 

Clan Progenitor:

Chitoka Wesokuru is the first to be recognized as a teacher and developer of the clan's abilities. His hill residence is still the clan's main outpost to this day.The residence is also what the clan is named after, Chitoka. (Calm Hills.)

 

Clan Head:

Chitoka Nobunaga is a pragmatic, strict leader. His wife mother Mikoto, a famous healer runs the clans day to day business. While Nobunaga is mostly only present during rituals and ceremonies. Mikoto runs a small hospital from the hill residence, Nobunaga is often found travelling between the residence and Kirigakure on diplomatic duty.

Chitoka Clan History

The ninja world's secret police.

The Chitoka clan were a clan that first united and operated from the land of water. Unlike many of the warring clans. The Chitoka clan often remained neutral. Being too useful for a great many clans to be destroyed or even threatened. Targeting them often means that you either had something to hide. Or you drew a large target on your back. As the Chitoka clan were very popular mercenaries for all during the warring clans period. Attacking them most often dragged your clan into a large war with several of the Chitoka allies. Including the water Daimyo.

The Chitoka clan's bloodline allows them to precise control over flesh and biology. Most of the Chitoka were famed for being the misnamed 'worlds greatest sensors.' As traditionally. Sensors sensed chakra. The Chitoka clan instead create organs. Eyes and ears. Or even patches of skin that were functional. And could relay information back to the user.

This made them immensely popular with the Water Daimyo of many generations. Allowing him a precise and constant flow of information from all corners of his land. Unlike a more war-focused clan. Hiring the Chitoka meant you literally have eyes and ears everywhere. Which also made them popular allies for more traditional warfare focused clans. Information being a great asset. Which also lends a hand into the clan's survival. Throughout the year the clan has shamelessly gone into hiding several times when they sensed heat. Preferring to simply avoid confrontation. As they have such near perfect information to know when it's safe to come out again. And plenty of early warning in case things get dire again.

Regardless. During the years of the Bloodline purges in the land of Water even the Chitoka had it rough. Their numbers nearly halved. But they persevered. And these days they even thrive off their ancient business: Information brokers.

During the NCIA, the Chitoka clan offered Kumogakure their services in expanding their influence and information range. Which was accepted as sufficient allegiance to keep the clan out of trouble. During this brief period however the Chitoka resigned from Kirigakure's clan collective, returning to their original estate until the majority of turmoil. Including the reigns and fall of the NCIA was over. Before they realigned themselves with Kirigakure. Their contribution during that period however, for both Kumogakure but also Kirigakure, remains minor. And is sometimes considered cowardly, and thus a thorn in the eye of some of the more hardline clan members of Kirigakure.

Chitoka Cultural Information

Physical Traits

The Chitoka clan favors non-restrictive clothing like Kimonos and robes. So their skin has more surface area. However, you'll find a broad diversity in tastes and styles within the clan. The clan head is often found in traditional garbs of a far stricter regime. And so is his wife. Often referred to as 'mother' of the clan. Recently, due to the strictness of the recent clan-head. Many favor a stricter regime in clothing, covering more and seeming far more formal. Though that also spawned a contra-movement within the youth of the clan.

Physically, the Chitoka clan does't have particularly distinct features. Many of them choose to go bald at a fairly young age. Because the clan balds relatively fast, usually due to their own devices. Due to their flesh manipulation, they can often change their physiology, including muscle mass at their leisure. They can create or remove their own scars. So you'll often find the Chitoka men and women physically look 'as they aspire to look.'

Clan Outlook

The Chitoka clan are very open among themselves. It's difficult to keep secrets from a fellow kinsman. But unless you're appointed by the clan-head to spy on your own kin. It's held in very bad taste to use the clan's Kekkei Genkai against one another. Creating a balance of trust. And severe punishment when that trust is broken. To keep the peace within the clan. The clan is known as very pragmatic and diplomatic. Preferring a non-violent approach if that's available. Favoring coercion or blackmail as their offensive measures.

Clan Professions

The majority of the clans nin end up working as information brokers. Either for Kirigakure or independent depending on where they got their training. At the hillside residence or in Kiri. The ones that don't hold regular professions such as bakers, farmers and construction workers.

Night of a thousand eyes

The night of a thousand eyes is a famous event where the Chitoka clan celebrate the day they consider their clan members adult. The majority of the clan gather. The weeks before are spent making hundreds of miniature hot air balloons. Every adult clan-member attending creates a pair of eyes, each gets attached to their own balloon. Which are then released simultaneously. The new adults get to release theirs first. Which are often the first and best created hot air balloons. Before the rest goes. The night of a thousand eyes was traditionally instated to teach the clan humility. To show them that they are but a tiny piece in a far larger world. Most of the ninja world however considers it an en-masse spying event. As some of the pouches fly as far as the land of wind before they crash.

Chitoka Clan Relations

The Chitoka clan maintains warm relations with all ninja clans within the land of water. And decent or neutral relations with those outside of their native land. Even during the civil war they gave their services to both sides. Most of the time taking but a small payment and protection as a payment. Which sufficed to keep them safe.

Chitoka Clan Bloodline

Flesh Release (Earth, Yin, Yang) | Kūton | 肉遁

The flesh release is the Chitoka bloodline. Considered repulsive by some. The Flesh release specializes in creation of organic material. Bile, flesh, and even full on organs. The bloodline works by editing DNA within the user's body to create and shape. Most organs are released as separate entities through the mouth (which, for convenience sake, is also the main place they are produced.) But they can technically be created and released anywhere on the body.

Examples of the Chitoka bloodline being used are floating eyes and ears. Or even patches of skin that send information to the user. Things they feel from touch to a breeze. Things they see and hear.

-- The Chitoka Clan has a Maximum of 3 Character Slots.
-- When it reaches 3 Character Slots, the Clan will be Locked, and no more characters may be created.
-- The Chitoka clan members must be from the land of water. However, they may choose to align and grow up in Kirigakure or the hillside estate. Growing up in the estate makes them a legal wandering nin. Acts against Kirigakure or the land of water however will change this status to missing at the leisure of the Mizukage or the clan-head.

-- Clan Jutsu and the "Flesh Release" cannot be used without the Clan's Advanced System, "Flesh Release"
