• Shunshin No Jutsu | Body Flicker Technique | 瞬身の術 I
Type: Ninjutsu [Void]
Rank: Genin
Cost: 50 Chakra
Effect: This technique may be performed in the Response Phase or the Setup Phase;

Response: This technique may be performed in the Response Phase as a Free Action. The user of this technique increases their Evasion statistic by +50 during the turn that this technique is used. (Dodge rolls made during this turn must mention this technique.) This technique has a 5x% chance to fail, with 'x' being equivalent to the number of unresolved attacks targeting the user. This technique may be performed 2 times per battle in the Response Phase.

Setup: The user of this technique increases their Accuracy statistic by +50 during the turn that this technique is used. The user of this technique may not perform another technique in the Setup Phase for 2 turns. This technique may be performed 2 times per battle in the Setup Phase.

Role Play Effect: The user of this technique may reduce the required post-length when Traveling by 10% when performing this technique outside of battle.
Description: One of the basic techniques taught to most students during their time at the academy. The Body Flicker Technique is considered an extremely versatile ability, and is one of the most widely used general shinobi skills. The jutsu itself is a high-speed movement ability that uses chakra to temporarily vitalize the body, allowing movement that is nearly untraceable to the naked eye. The user often disappears from the field of their opponent’s vision in a puff of smoke, as a means to further distract their path of escape. Though Shunshin has many applications, its most common use is in evading hazardous attacks.
Points: 9

Designer's Notes:
First of some basic jutsu remakes. Shunshin had some discrepancies with it, most notably that it gave a bonus "to dodge" rather than evasion, so it gave bennies to dodging Genjutsu as well. This is a more complex version, but not that much. The numbers are all by the book, with the exception of the Genin travel thing. Normally they can do that, but it felt weird to leave one of them without it, so I made it cost the standard 3 JP and only had it give a 10% reduction.

Genin; 50 stats = 50 Chakra (3 JP * 2 + 3 = 9)
Chunin; 150 stats = 120 Chakra (4 JP * 2 + 3 = 11)
Jonin; 450 stats = 297 Chakra* (7 JP * 2 + 3 = 17)
Sennin; 750 stats = 495 Chakra* (8 JP *2 + 3 = 19)

* Rounded up.

The more I've thought about it, the more it seems like the actual jutsu portion of shunshin is the chakra enhancement. Then you move, just fast. Sort of the same logic as how Rasengan or Chidori are Ninjutsu and the movement is just your body moving.

If I had to transpose the concept of the technique onto the effect, I would say that the +stats portion of the jutsu is what you pay for with your chakra, and then the physical part that would have been considered Taijutsu in the last version is the dodge roll, which is separate.
