Height:

4'9" [1.4 Meters]

Weight:

99 Pounds [44.9 Kilograms]

Eyes:

Kuroko possesses eyes that are of a vibrant, seafoam green. The exact color of her irises is somewhere between a blue and a green, mimicking the color of some of the most vibrant desert plants. The young girl often rims her eyes in various colors of make-up that highlight and accentuate her eye color. Kuroko's eyes are fairly large and luminous, even when her lids are thickly caked in bunraku face paint.

Hair:

Generally Kuroko wears her long, blonde hair in a twin-tail style, letting her hair fall symmetrically on either side of her head. She frames her face on both sides with her choppy bangs. While blonde hair is not particularly uncommon in her homeland, Kuroko's stands out a bit because of its brightness, something she often conceals under hoods or other clothing.

Civilian Attire:

As a puppeteer and tinkerer, Kuroko's outfits are usually more practical than fashion forward, even when not performing her shinobi duties. She tends to wear heavy duty pants with lots of pockets, especially if she isn't wearing the apron that she dons when working on one of her projects. She tends to wear shirt of light fabric that don't get too hot when spending long hours building, and though she prefers dark colors when out on missions, it is far more likely for her to be wearing vibrant greens and blues when not on-duty. The most notable difference between her every day outfits and when she is on a mission is the usual lack of the make-up she wears to distinguish herself on the battlefield.

Mission Attire:

Kuroko dresses darkly when on missions, a traditional typical among puppeteers. Over top of a typical shinobi mesh shirt, she dons a dark, hooded sweatshirt, with a specifically designed hood that pokes up in what look like two, pointy ears. Unlike many Suna-nin, Kuroko tends to wear shorts when on missions. They often show off her legs in a way that her mother disapproves of, but wire mesh extends below the hem of the shorts, and Kuroko firmly believes that that counts as pants too. The young puppeteer also carries an extra-large satchel, which contains many of the tools that she uses to work on and repair her puppets. Kuroko also paints intricate designs on her face in make-up, another common puppeteer tradition.

Physical Description:

Short and slender, Kuroko looks very much the part of a young, teen girl. Her face, when not coated in brightly colored paint, is symmetrical and unblemished. Due in part to her petite frame, Kuroko is not very curvy at all, and tends to be very sensitive about her bust. At any given time, the young girl's hands tend to be bandaged up, covering the healing scratches and nicks that come with being an artisan.

Personality:

Kuroko has two personalities. The first is a lie that she shares with the world, which she fabricated to embody all the traits that she finds admirable in others. Public Kuroko is confident, but pleasant to be around. She is always nice to others and possesses a kind of spunky positivity that she uses to bolster the morale of people around her.

On the inside though, Kuroko tends to be much less sure of herself, and quick to judge her own accomplishments harshly. She constantly fears that her friends and family do not truly like her and that at any time the punchline of some long-running joke will be dropped on her, leaving her alone once more.

Whether using her bubbly front, or her true personality, Kuroko tries to always do the right thing, and cares very deeply for people that she thinks of as friends. The harsh training of the Sunagakure Academy has prepared her for the life as a shinobi and she hopes that she and her puppets will succeed in her future missions.

History:

There are few in the ninja world who were not affected in some way by the war created by the Inabikari Raikou and Kumogakure , however small. Kuroko was only four at the time of the invasion that would change the political climate of the great shinobi nations for years to come. She lived with her mother and father who were both shinobi of unremarkable pedigree that hailed from Sunagakure. Her father had been a medical ninja with a prickly demeanor, and her mother had been a student of tessenjutsu who was known for being friendly and outgoing. What they lacked in skill, they made up for in ideals and good intentions, and were quick to take up arms in the name of the bourgeoning resistance movement.

Young Kuroko was carried along with them, as they had no extended family to leave her with. Unfortunately, all of the desire to do good and live by your ideals cannot ensure that you actually live. Both of Kuroko’s parents were killed early in Sunagakure’s occupation. In an attempt to ensure their child’s safety they hadn’t informed anyone of the girl’s location, and it was weeks before the four year old was found in a small, Resistance safe-house, dying of dehydration.

The small girl was taken and dropped off in an orphanage in Sunagakure. She didn’t make many friends in her time there, and was often picked on by the other girls and boys for reasons she could never understand. During her time at the orphanage Kuroko became shy and withdrawn, spending much of her time curled up in whatever corner she could find, quietly playing with a doll or two. She came to seek solace in her few dolls, treating them like friends when she didn’t have any of her own.

Kuroko lived in the orphanage for years, but when she was seven years old she caught the eye of a person who would come to be a driving figure in her life. A woman by the name of Hanami noticed Kuroko one day when she was sitting alone in the playground outside of the orphanage, and she watched the way that the young girl played with her dolls. That day Hanami made plans to adopt the child, offering to teach her how to make her dolls to walk and talk without even having to touch them.

The newly adopted Kuroko was enrolled in Sunagakure’s academy as soon as it reopened following the war. Hanami, who was well-known as a hero of the war and newly promoted Captain of Sunagakure’s Puppet Brigade began to train her in the arts of puppetry, showing her the many delicate techniques that were required to utilize puppet ninjutsu. Kuroko took to it like a fish to water. After her time spent with only her toys to comfort her in the orphanage it seemed a part of a fairy tale that she would learn to bring them to life.

In the Academy, Kuroko did her best to make friends, but still seemed to have trouble standing out. After years of trial and error and emulating her adoptive mother, Kuroko devised a persona that got her some attention. She used this pleasant, outgoing demeanor, seeming almost ditzy. Hanami assured her that a façade like that would also be useful as a shinobi, allowing her to hide her true skills behind the mask of a vapid airhead.

When she was twelve, Kuroko graduated from the academy and in the same year she created her very first puppet all on her own. Armed with a new friend, and under the tutelage of the best puppeteer in the village, Kuroko was ready to begin her career as a shinobi.

Hindering Skills:

No element
Effect: Characters with this skill begin play with 1 less ‘Subtle Elements’ or ‘Combinatorial Element’ skill.
Description: Not all ninja are built equally, and while each village has their own traditional elements that see much use, there are always the oddballs within those villages who don’t seem able to grasp the basics of how to perform techniques of their homeland.
Cost: +1

Advancement Seal; Stamina
Effect: Characters with this skill are considered to have 80% of the base stat points in the chosen stat, rounded up. May only be taken once per stat.
Description: Ever since you were a youngster just learning how to be a ninja, you've been just piss poor at this one area. No matter how hard you work, you just have some inability to learn this effectively. You may be tender about the situation.
Cost: +1

Advancement Seal; Taijutsu
Effect: Characters with this skill are considered to have 80% of the base stat points in the chosen stat, rounded up. May only be taken once per stat.
Description: Ever since you were a youngster just learning how to be a ninja, you've been just piss poor at this one area. No matter how hard you work, you just have some inability to learn this effectively. You may be tender about the situation.
Cost: +1

Poor Stamina Manipulation
Effect: Before using a Taijutsu technique, characters with this skill must roll a 10-sided dice. On an outcome of 1 or 2 the technique fails. Characters may not take another action this turn, but the stamina is not lost. May not have Sealed Taijutsu
Description: Your stamina system just fails to respond sometimes. Like an engine not turning over, once in awhile you just fail to create the energy to do your superhuman feats of strength.
Cost: +2

Lonely
Effect: Characters with this skill reduce Experience gained when training alone by 50%. Characters with this skill may not take missions alone.
Description: Some people can go through life relying only on their own strength of will, facing off against the world by themselves. Others, like those with this skill, are eternally desperate for companionship and find the idea of operating on their own as demoralizing as they do terrifying. They feel a constant, codependent need for a companion, or something like it that they can see, feel, and touch in order to cope with everyday life, finding even antagonistic company preferable to isolation. While these individuals often have a solid grasp of teamwork, they are often woefully unprepared for situations in which they must act by themselves for an extended period of time.
