Welcome to Ninja Academy 6.0!

(Don't worry, we aren't resetting any characters or completely destroying any builds, we hope.)

There are a lot of changes here and I will cover each of them so pay attention, they are important and may apply to your character! It's your responsibility to make sure you character is up to date on current rules! This is why I'm writing this guide to help you through all the changes. I will also be making an Official 6.0 Q&A thread in the RPG Chat which will link right here as I post this.

First (Layout)-

You will realize that the entire layout of the main page has been changed. I would first like to thank Seven for the layout design, he did 95% of the graphical work on the site and I want to acknowledge him here and also thank him for making it so damn pretty. Secondly, ExplodedSoda and I have personally gone through and checked for grammar and contradictions within the rules, along with re-ordering them where we saw fit. Hopefully this will stay organized and be easier to read. Many terms were changed for consistency. No large changes on the whole were made to the layout, just details to make life easier on the eyes and mind when reading. The major changes to rules will come below. This was no small task, as I had to completely re-code the entire site from the ground up in HTML, using CSS to help with the process unlike I did last time. However, it should make updating the site easier from now on.

Important note: The site itself is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox, as it handles CSS arguably the nicest. The site WILL run in IE and Opera, other browsers have not been tested. If you have any problems please send me a PM about it and I will try and fix it.

Second (Paths)-

The ‘Path' skills that were originally a creation of MrSako and given as a General Skill anyone can take have outgrown their place in the Approved Skills sub forum. They have been redone and added to, including a few new paths for your enjoyment. All path skills, with the exception of custom and personal paths, have been placed on the Skills Page and given their own table. Many of the hindering skill limits have been dropped, but in place of those limits we have placed heavy RP guides upon them or other restrictions which must be fulfilled in character. Please take a look at the skill page and update your paths accordingly. As always, if your path was changed in a way that you are unhappy with, feel free to PM a staff member informing them that you would like to drop your path and receive a skill point refund on that skill and any skills bought with it. Some paths, however, have for the most part been unchanged, so please look them over carefully before deciding.

The Advanced Paths (aside the ones currently available on the main site) are being re-worked and will be released soon. Please be patient!

Third (Medical)-

The Medical system has been HEAVILY revamped and many skills have been changed or replaced. I would like to thank Shadow for helping with this; it was his idea and most of his work that went into this new medical system. If it wasn't for him we would not have even considered changing it.

The following skills have either been removed completely or changed. All points will be refunded, and it will be your choice whether you want to repurchase them or not. If you choose to, or are unable to, keep skills that give you access to Medical Jutsu, then you will also be refunded the Jutsu Points for those techniques and have them removed from your sheet. The following skills have been removed/changed/added, please look at the skills page for more information.

Path of the Medical Ninja (Changed)

Path of the Advanced Medical Ninja (Changed)

Path of the Combative Medical Ninja (Added; alternate advanced path for medics)

First Aid Provider (Added; required to learn any medical jutsu)

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (Changed; replaced ‘Initiate Medic')

Field Medic (Changed; replaced ‘Intermediate Medic')

Field Surgeon (Changed; replaced ‘Doctor‘)

Release Chakra (Removed)

Adept Medic (Removed)

Adept Medical Knowledge (Added)

Advanced Medical Knowledge (Added)

Expert Medical Knowledge (Added)

Physician's Assistant (PA) (Added)

Physician (Doctor) (Added)

Resuscitation (Added)

Quick Heal (Added)

Emergency Care (Added)

Survival Tactics (Added)

A Medical Jutsu Cost to Damage Ratio chart has been added to the main site, meaning that just about all medical techniques that heal directly will have to be re-approved unless by some miracle they already fall into these ratios. Remember, when looking at the ratios that you do not have to overcome a defensive modifier, so the ratios are more costly than damage ones. See the Jutsu Rules page for more information, under the Medical Jutsu area.

A new type of medical jutsu has been created, dubbed ‘Offensive Medical Jutsu'. These jutsu are medical jutsu that deal damage to the opponent, and are only available to those who take the Path of the Combative Medical Ninja.

IMPORTANT: No one may learn Medical Jutsu without a skill now, even Gennin level ones.

Fourth (Basic Attacks)-

Basic attacks have been given a boost, and instead of giving a 50% modifier will now give a 75% modifier. For those of you out there that are not that good at your mathematics, that means instead of for every 40 Taijutsu you get +5 damage to basic attacks, you now get +5 damage for every 30 Taijutsu you have. Hopefully you'll all enjoy that.

Fifth (Items: Ninja Outlet)-

Some items, such as Soldier Pills and Explosive Tags, have had their prices SEVERELY lowered in order to try and balance them, a.k.a. make them useful. No purchases will be refunded for this, and all previously bought items will now be worth the value they are selling for. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we simply cannot refund all of these. Prices change here as in the real world, tough luck.

Sixth (Headache)-

A new status effect ‘Headache' has been added to the Status Effect page, go check it out.

Seventh (Poisons)-

Poison rules have been changed a bit not only to accommodate the new path that makes use of them, but also to make them a bit more useful in game. The skills Poison Creator and Poison Mixer have been replaced with a new skill set that does a few different abilities. As always, if you had these skills you may be refunded your points and spend them how you like, hopefully on our new skills for the poisons. Also, the status effect cost area has been updated along with the Ninja Gear Outlet to keep up to date with these rules. Finally, the amount of equipment slots used for poison has been added, as it was never specified before (4 ounces = 1 equipment slot point). Please look under the equipment rules and read the poison area for more information on these changes.

Eighth (Training Bonuses)-

The training bonuses you receive from people of higher rank than you has been changed, below is a list of how the bonus work out now. These changes are more thoroughly outlined in the Leveling System near the top of the page under ‘Training'

-When training with someone of your rank you gain a basic team bonus of +.5 EXP per line.

-Chuunin training with those of lesser rank gives an extra +1 to those of lesser rank.

-Jounin training with those of Gennin rank gives a bonus of +2 to the Gennin's EXP per line, as well as team bonuses. Chuunin are given +1 for training with a Jounin in addition to team bonuses, because of the smaller gap between the two, and because there is less that a Chuunin can learn from a Jounin than a Gennin can learn from a Jounin.

-Sennin training with those of Gennin rank gives those of Gennin rank a +3 EXP per line bonus, and the basic team bonuses. They give Chuunin +2 EXP per line in bonuses in addition to basic team bonuses. Sennin give Jounin +1 EXP per line in bonuses in addition to basic team bonuses.

-All of the above bonuses are the same for NPC or PC use.

-When teaching skills or techniques, the teacher has to be someone higher than you in level or CXP and they must know the skill/technique being taught.

Ninth (FAQ / Creating a Character / Joining & Making Clans)-

The FAQ has been slightly expanded to include some more common questions. The creating a character page, which has been outdated for a long time, has been completely re-written and updated to be current with the newest rules. The Joining a Clan page has been completely re-written and expanded to be a ‘Joining & Making a Clan' page. Thanks to Azure and Warr for rewriting these pages respectively.

Tenth (World Map)-

The World Map has been re-vectored and created especially for our site by our very own Hayake Musume, also more commonly known as my roommate, Ian. Approximate locations of the Hidden Villages and Major Cities have been placed, but keep in mind (as it says on the World Map Page) that the locations of the Hidden Villages is Out of Character knowledge, as they are not ACTUALLY marked on any maps anywhere for obvious reasons.

Eleven (Medium/Large Weapons)-

The cost of upgrading Medium/Large weapons has been changed. From levels 1-10 the cost has been slightly lowered for each, but from 11+ the prices have been edited to slowly increase. No Refunds will be given for already purchased items, and any items to be purchased from now on may need to be repriced slightly to adjust for. We apologize to anyone who may be hurt by this and congratulate the large majority of you who make out like bandits. Enjoy.

Twelfth (MrSako's Skills)-

The skills 'Chakra Flow', 'Intestinal Fortitude', 'Successful', and 'Weathered Shinobi' have all been moved from their previous home in the pinned topic of the approved skills area to the main skills page. Enjoy.

Thirteenth (Equipment Repairing/Indestructible)-

From now on, there will be a change in how equipment destruction and repairs will work. Any equipment destroyed in battle or through other means can be repaired for a flat rate of $20 per piece. If a piece has the effect ‘Indestructible' its effect will mean that you do not need to pay a cost to have it repaired. As for the in-character effects of Indestructible, any item with this attribute is considered to be made with a finer set of materials (for instance, a very strong steel) that are resistant to damage. They are not, however, actually indestructible. All effects that would break equipment will instead render a piece of indestructible equipment unusable for the remainder of the battle.

Fourteenth (Counter Jutsu Reminder)-

There is no change to rules here, but I want to remind all members that Response phase/counter jutsu DO have a built in fail chance to all of them. Please read up under the jutsu rules about them for more information. I have noticed a lot of people have just been ignoring this rule as of late.
