Matthias Drake Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Firefly Regime (Hotaru Ryouiki) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Chuunin Cost: 3 per firefly Damage: 5 per firefly Effect: Sacrifice a firefly each five damage. Must be done after Hotaru. Description: Causes the fireflies summoned by Hotaru to explode in tiny fiery balls on their opponent. While only nuisances in themselves, they can deal a quite staggering amount of damage if the entire swarm blows up together. Points: 2 [1] Firefly Tyrant (Grave of the Fireflies) Type: Fire Ninjutsu, Personal Rank: Jounin Cost: 2 per firefly Damage: 5 per firefly (Maximum 320) Effect: Sacrifice a firefly each five damage. Must be done after Hotaru or a similar jutsu. This is considered one attack, not a multi-hit. Description: A somewhat improved version of the Hotaru Ryouiki jutsu, developed by Alchem Sanji. This produces a slightly greater return on the energy invested than the original. Points: 2 [1]
Maelstrom Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Can you provide a link for both 'Hotaru' and 'Kiwamarinai Hotaru'?

Maelstrom Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) Is the 5 damage modified by either the attacker or the defender? Also, perhaps a limit should be set into place in regards to how many of these firefly's can actually be 'detonated' at a time. I could see this getting fairly crazy if 100 firefly's are 'detonated' for only 200 chakra, resulting in an easy 500 damage from the technique alone. Another question; does the target roll for each firefly sacrificed in this technique? Could get a little troublesome if someone had to roll 100 times for 100 firefly's. Edit: I guess the above questions should be applied to both versions of the technique; the one on the main page, as well as your own. Edited August 20, 2008 by Maelstrom
Matthias Drake Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Both. The limit is set by the Jounin damage cap, or the Chuunin cap in the original. See second line of effect: This is considered one attack, not a multi-hit.
Maelstrom Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) Alright, could you just note the damage cap next to the damage itself for clarification? Once that's done, consider this APPROVED. Also, perhaps the original should be changed so it's considered only one attack when dodging, and a similar damage cap should be noted as well. The original version would get insanely annoying if you had to roll for each dodge. Edited August 20, 2008 by Maelstrom
Matthias Drake Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 It is, as far as I know. I just felt the need to note it in the description, for clarification.
Kouta Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Um, slightly obvious..but the jutsu's rank reads "Chunnin" but uses "Jounin" costs and caps.
Matthias Drake Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) Whoops. Wow, I feel dumb. Fixed. Edited August 23, 2008 by Matthias Drake
