Fear o' Fright [Orange Group]

The sound of a crash as a creature rampaged through the base of the trees. It screeched as it devoured chakra from it's surrounding, scurrying from base to base, looking for a more appetizing meal. In comparison to the other creatures that have been spotted throughout the world, it was smaller, however it's ferocity knew no bounds. As it ran, it left a trail of poison in it's path, decaying everything that touched it. 

 

Sounds of alarms echoed throughout the village as a group of warriors stood, ready to challenge the creature. It's eyes stared the group, while it's tongue lashed around, the second head glancing towards them with fear.

Ote had been on duty that night. The festival was in full swing but it was far too dangerous to leave the village unattended. The bright of his eyes flared into the night as his perception scanned the distance. An anomaly. A signature of chakra unlike anything he had ever seen before flared to life and it came crashing closer and closer to the village fair grounds. Fear gripped Ote in a heartbeat. Even for a Fell, who normally controlled their emotions sternly, Ote had no frame of reference for such a creature. It was an image from the depths his nightmares come true and he couldn't even see the details of it. Simply the aura it radiated the sheer evil that came off of it was enough to turn his innards to jelly for a moment.

 

He managed to break himself from the terror that gripped him and signal the alarm. People were already starting to see the creature as cries of panic erupted all around him. He brought his hands together and made a single seal. Eight identical copies of himself appeared as he and his hoard rushed to the treeline to meet the creature that threatened the festival and the civilians attending. All he had to do was buy enough time to help everyone escape. No matter the cost.

 

"Oh gods, don't let me get eaten by one mouth and shit out the second."

The Clone Technique is considered an E-Ranked jutsu, and is not very powerful, but with practice and ingenuity many shinobi have come to use it in masterful ways. Most often stalling by hiding out among their clones, or setting themselves up for a strong offensive.

The creature's eyes glared at the new arrival, it's large tongue lashing around in excitement. A loud screech was released as it stomped it's feet and shrouded itself in a small, yet seemingly protective bubble. If it was going to hunt unknown prey, it would at least do so through guarding itself.

Merciful
Description: You bring mercy to your opponents on the battlefield, no matter how terrible they may be. You refuse to bring yourself to their level, and as such will always pull back on that finishing blow. Not to say you won't finish them, but everyone deserves the chance to surrender
Effect: Whenever you would deal the finishing blow in combat to an opponent, you must let them live with one HP left, only applies once a battle.

Uninterested Combatant

Description: Some people have no interest in fighting those who are obviously weaker than them. These shinobi will turn down a fight with weaker individuals regardless of the situation and will engage only if assaulted.

Aveta’s Hammer
Description: Swimming is hard. And water is wet, and uncomfortable, and cold. Why would I learn how to swim? I mean, I can walk on water after all right? It's not like I'll ever fall in. Whatever. It's a stupid skill anyways, we were born to walk on land, not flail around pretending we're something we're not. It's unnatural.
Effect: Character may not swim in role play. Any attempt to swim results in the character needing to be saved by an outside source. This character is takes triple damage from the status effect 'Choking' when afflicted by way of water. In addition, this character is 'Afraid; 2' of all opponents when the terrain 'Water' is on the battlefield.

Description: Despite its name, the Shield of Seals is not actually a real shield. The gauntlet finds its inspiration in the old kote that came into vogue a century ago. Unlike those technological tools, this weapon's function is surrounded by a complex sealing formula placed on the gauntlet that allows it to function as if it were a scroll. The hand-wear is also designed as a defense against ninjutsu, allowing it to greatly lessen the damage of all forms of offensive ninjutsu and even steal the attack and inscribe it into the seal on the gauntlet.

 

 

 

Kagura very nearly skipped through the festival, gleeful at the chance to see more of the world outside the Shrine. She had been outraged at the concept at first; a holiday revolving around scaring other people, playing pranks and trick on them? It didn’t sound very nice at all. But as the festive season had grown near and so many of her acquaintances had gotten involved, she couldn’t deny the interest she felt, or the pleasure of a successful joke she saw on Sara’s face when the medic leapt randomly from the bushes in front of her house, scaring the daylight out of her.

 

Only moments ago, she had played her first Halloween trick of her own on her unsuspecting girlfriend. Using a distraction and a simple henge to change her appearance, when Sara looked back she would see a leering old woman covered in warts, smiling lecherously and grinning with yellowed, crooked teeth. She waited with anticipation, but Sara kept staring into the forest and suddenly Kagura heard it too. She had thought it an animal at first, scrabbling through the trees. But the sound was growing louder, more violent, closer with every second. She silently applauded the production; it was the most elaborate hoax she’d seen yet today.

 

It was only when she caught sight of the being that her appreciation turned to dread. The monster was grotesque, tongue lashing hungrily from a mouth with too many wicked teeth. It knocked down trees as it moved, the world blackening and withering where it moved. She swallowed in fear, knowing that she had to keep the monstrosity away from Sara. Forgetting that her henge was still in place, she tugged on her lover’s sleeve and pulled her back. “Get back, Sara!” Her hands trembled, but she could still form the seals for the clone technique. Four false Kagura’s split off from her body, fanning out to find the best angle of attack. “I’ll hold it off until you can get clear!”

Description: The idea behind climbing vertical surfaces to improve one’s chakra control is not new. Many shinobi traditions have taught it for years under different names. The exact details of the training vary, but the concept is simple, to climb a vertical surface one must focus a static amount of chakra to the soles of their feet.      Daisen had been preoccupied with the festivities, he had almost gotten sick off of the amount of food he consumed. Amazingly enough however, there was even a candy that stopped stomach aches! He was rather happy with the whole thing, he was off duty and had met a bunch of new people this night. Halloween was the best…well until that whole terrifying monster started crashing through the trees. He stood up and put his hand in his hip pouch, he wanted to feel a kunai in his hand. He thought it might comfort him. He was wrong…”You see that…” he didn’t know how to verbally describe it, so he pointed it out. He noticed another bracing to foolishly try and stop the creature, creating clones. He wondered if they were shadow clones or normal bunshin, perhaps a special one like Shinji. It mattered little at the moment, the creature stomped nearer and they went to meet the threat. It was their duty as ninja to stop these civilians from harm, or at least while they were still standing.


   When the creature send out its odd barrier, Daisen looked over to yet another ninja by their side who also made some clones. Backup in any form was truly comforting, he slipped his stance into that of the lotus; he hoped the martial form and muscle memory would keep him mentally crisp during the fighting.


     He made a few hand seals, deciding to do the same as the others around him, he created his own four bunshin….maybe the damned thing would chomp down of the wrong -him- he made four to increase his own chances of not becoming dinner, he hoped.

As expected, the beginning of the battle on the shinobi side was the summoning of clones. Simple constructs, they would aid the defenders in their offensive and/or defensive efforts, and when facing a creature the likes of which stood before them any edge they could get might just make the difference between life or death. Three others had come before him, and between them and the small army of clones they had created, it almost looked like a sizable defence force. Smirking, Uta leaped down from the rooftop he was relaxing on, besides his fellow ninja in the path of the charging monstrosity. "Its big enough I can sense its movements from over here, and its spirit looks...unpleasant. We can't let it get past us, you all understand that right?" With seals of his own, Uta summoned forth a small army of illusory companions, before biting his thumb and slamming his hand down on the ground. In a flash of smoke, a wicked looking, cyclopean lantern arose and floated around Uta, its lone eye bloodshot and staring hungrily at the warriors gathered around it. "Uta, many of these souls may not survive the battle that is coming. If they die their names are mine." Uta nodded in quick agreement, better to keep the young, irritating Doki on side lest it turns its hideous attention to him. Hungrily, its monstrously long tongue probed the thick black stitches that held its half-maw sealed, the echoing rattle of the blood soaked chains it dangled from adding an eerie tone to the approaching showdown.

With the ghostly blue light of Chouchin-obake illuminating him, Uta took his stand and closed his eyes, feeling the pulse of the beast with every thudding, horrible step to took towards them, the bubble like construct surrounding it no doubt defending it from harm. Uta would have to see how that barrier stood up to his assault, and that of his companions, together surely they could win. They may not be the strongest ninja of their homelands, but the very fact that they stood their ground here showed that theirs was a resolve that was not so easily broken.

The day was going so well for Sara. She had taken her Kagura (or did Kagura take her? How did they end up here again?) to a festival and they looked at all the things, scared each other, and overall were having a great time. Until this poor lost little creature had stumbled across their path. It took a while for Sara to realize that it was something they were fighting against. That was when she saw it's back with it's freaky tongue. Yep, it had to go. That is not normal. Luckily for her, there seemed to be other ninja around her. Judging by their skill with jutsu and the relative ease they took to the battlefield, they were experienced. Maybe not the best the villages had to offer, but then again, neither was she. Then again... She had never seen these people before. Did they have a 5 way peace treaty at the moment? Confusion skitted across Sara's face. It was incredibly coincidental that they ended up in a fight, with people relatively of similar strengths, against a monster that seemed possible to take down if they all worked together. Was it coincidence? Or was something more sinister afoot? No matter, not wanting to be outdone by her peers, Sara also formed the seals for her bunshin no jutsu, and pouted when two measly clones appeared next to her.

 

"Hmph, see if I care," Sara muttered to herself. Even Kagura had a whole -swarm- of herself surrounding her which was proving to be rather distracting, but her clones were the best. They were going to be YUGE, and everyone will see how cool they were.

Clone Technique | Bunshin no Jutsu

Effect: This technique may be used in the Setup Phase or Main Phase. When determining the cost of this technique "x" is considered to be the number of "Clones" created by the user and may never be greater than 2. "Clones" have 1 Health and 1% of the user's other statistics. "Clones" are not physical, and may not use items, techniques or attack during their turn. The user of this technique gains +20 Evasion or +20 Accuracy for every "Clone" on the battlefield. The effects of 'Clones' may be ignored by any character with heightened senses (i.e; Byakugan, Path of the Sensor, Inuzuka Smell Tracker, etc). This technique may be used in the Setup Phase 1 time per battle. 
Description: A technique that most students are required to be proficient in before they can graduate from the academy, the Bunshin no Jutsu is the most basic of the myriad of clone techniques that exist in the world. By properly molding their chakra, the user is capable of creating near perfect replicas of themselves. Unlike most bunshinjutsu, the basic clone technique does not produce physical clones but creates something more akin to a projected image, which is a real image that has no form. The Clone Technique is considered an E-Ranked jutsu, and is not very powerful, but with practice and ingenuity many shinobi have come to use it in masterful ways. Most often stalling by hiding out among their clones, or setting themselves up for a strong offensive.

Maybe you have spent countless hours of meditation and practice, and have crafted your mind and body into a temple of self discipline. Or maybe you're just naturally good at it. Either way, your chakra circulatory system is of superb quality.
Rank 1: Gain 10% of your Total Chakra every turn. This replaces normal Chakra regeneration.
Rank 2: Gain 15% of your Total Chakra every turn. This replaces normal Chakra regeneration. Does not stack with previous ranks.
Requirements: User may not have any other skill (or bloodline skill) that affects Health, Stamina, or Chakra Regeneration. This skill may not be taught.

 

Tree Climbing Training

Effect: Characters with this skill gain one of the following effects permanently;

• Gain a -10% Chakra cost reduction on any chakra-based technique.
• All Ninjutsu techniques deal +10% of their base damage.
• Basic elements have their effects increased by an additional +50% of their base.

Description: The idea behind climbing vertical surfaces to improve one’s chakra control is not new. Many shinobi traditions have taught it for years under different names. The exact details of the training vary, but the concept is simple, to climb a vertical surface one must focus a static amount of chakra to the soles of their feet. If too little chakra is applied, one simply falls. If too much chakra is used, they will repel themselves from the surface. The key is applying just the right amount, a trick which has many applications in the world of the shinobi.
Requirements: 15-Post Jōnin Training, x In-Character Time (Normal; 14 Days, Gifted; 12 Days, Genius; 10 Days, Prodigy; 8 Days, Legendary; 6 Days)

Ote saw the chakra form around the creature before he sensed it. Like a second layer of foul energy protecting the beast from damage on the outside. Others began to appear, all around him. The chakra that came from them immediately gave them away as shinobi. Ote felt a small moment of relief knowing he wasn't the only one attempting to face the beast, however, now that it hid behind it's barrier, it was time to bring out the big guns.

 

Pulling a kunai and an explosive tag from his holster, the Fell quickly tied the two together before jumping into the air and launching the knife towards the creature. He landed a few meters behind where he had started, but hoped to see the monster squeal in pain. If the explosion was powerful enough, it would carry the kunai through the defense and right into the beast itself.  Either way, Ote was fairly certain he was able to destroy they barrier with the tag. This should give the others an opening.

Like all priests and priestesses of Amaterasu, she had learned to absorb and convert the energies of the sun into energy. Away from the sun, under the light of the moon, Kagura’s strength was diminished. Fire bloomed in her hand, nearly blinding in the dark night, blazing an unnatural orange as she formed it into a short arrow and extended her palm towards the creature. Its presence was simply wrong, like a stain on a matchless tapestry. A void in perfect creation. Destroying it was an automatic action, a reflex derived from the core of her being. The fact that it put Sara and the rest of the town in danger only hastened her decision to burn it until only ashes were left. Her pale face was determined, despite the danger. No matter the cost, this monster needed to be cleansed. And in the end, fire was the element of purification. “Burn,” she whispered, letting the arrow of flame fly.

You may choose "Void" Ninjutsu as your chosen element, which would include any Ninjutsu that does not fall under a specific type of element.

Description: Any user of Scorch techniques can dehydrate their enemies, but tales of master Shakuton wielders tell of shinobi flash-dried to little more than bone. Effect: For each rank in this skill; raise the cost increase effect caused by [Scorch] tag techniques by an additional 10%.
Restrictions: Ranks may be purchased once every 20 levels.

Residual Boil

Description: The punishing aftereffects of a Shakuton technique aren't only felt in the dehydration of the body. The searing of the victim's chakra system ensures that any attempt to use shinobi techniques are accompanied by a crippling, burning pain.
Effect: Whenever an opponent under the effects of the [Scorch] elemental bonus utilizes a technique, they are inflicted with Burning: X for 1 turn, where X is equal to 50% of the forced additional cost caused by the [Scorch] element. If the target is under the status effect [Exhausted] or the effect of [Subtle Elements; Fire], this is increased to 75%. If the target is under the effect of both [Exhausted] AND [Subtle Elements; Fire], this is increased to 100%. This effect may not trigger on consecutive turns.

Chouchin-Obake hovered hungrily, its lolling tongue tasting the air for the delicious lingering death that lurked in abundance in the approach of this terrifying creature. It would eat death today, either those of its allies or that of the beast, either which way, it looked forward to whatever followed, and hummed a soft melody to help bring focus to it's master's mind.

Uta, his mind brought to rapt attention by the lantern-esque demon at his side, looked over the beast. The closer it got the more it disgusted him, and its penchant for weird bubbling barriers sent chill shivers up his spine... He had to weaken it, but how? His reliance on bleeding would prove useful if that barrier was shattered, but he still had to hit the damn thing and despite its size he wasn't so sure he could, it moved with impressive speed for something so big, and a simple blast would never catch it. He'd have to outsmart it...

Fiddling with the settings on his arm, Uta flooded chakra into the device implanted within him, readying a technique to bleed the monster dry the moment its defences were down, he'd only need wait until the right opportunity came that he could sneak in a shot and take it down once and for all, hopefully with the aid of those around him that opening would present itself before too long.

The creature screamed in pain, feeling the scorching flames and the sound blast hit it at the same time. While it was certain it could devour this whole town, perhaps it was not worth the trouble it would take to bring these people down. No, definitely was not. It screamed once more as it's tongue hit the ground, only to turn away and scurry on. The day had been saved and as the morning sun rose above the horizon, the sounds of cheering and laughter would fill the air.

Effect: When this candy is eaten, you may increase the word-count of the post that this candy was consumed in by +200 Words. Eating multiple 'Black Licorice Bats' may stack this effect to a maximum of +400 words.

Effect: When this candy is consumed, the user's Chakra and Stamina Regeneration is doubled for 1 turn. Only 1 of this type of item may be used per battle.
Description: A candy made of rich dark chocolate that melts in your mouth the instant it touches your tongue. The luscious creamy texture is complimented by a slightly sweet taste, but ends with a satisfying, slightly bitter, finish. Oh, and it's shaped like a Kunai, cause ninjas.
