re: bg - what was there previously was my note to myself about rewriting my char's bg. kinda forgot about it after i spent like an hr+½ working on skills and jutsu. i think this should address both blue and eechi's concerns.

The man's left eye is a dark shade of brown nigh-indistinguishable from black. Shuji is often seen squinting with his good eye, though it is uncertain to bystanders if he has poor vision or if he squints for other reasons. -Clothing: Shuji prefers plain, concealing clothing. His standard uniform is a black, long-sleeved fleece jacket, denim jeans, thin black gloves, steel-capped boots, and a black balaclava. -Physical Description: Though he might have once been attractive, one can't really call the current form of Matsugami Shuji handsome. Deathly pale, gaunt as a skeleton, limbs like twigs, it's quite apparent that this is a man who has recently gone through great hardship. Though most of his body is covered by his enshrouding clothing, the little skin that peeks out is covered in scars and old wounds. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Persona~ Personality: If one were to describe Shuji in a single word, that word would be dour. It's very likely that if he can see a single person, Shuji will exude an aura of displeasure, accompanied by a stony silence. Likes: Shuji enjoys spending time in nature and reading. Reptiles and insects are his very favorite subjects in both, being fascinated by the differences between them and mammals. Dislikes: Shuji detests people that interrupt his quiet time, and anyone that is unnecessarily loud. He thinks that being louder than one needs to be is disrespectful and disgraceful. Because of his shyness, Shuji also dislikes being in crowded places around large numbers of people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Background~ Current Allegiance: Kumogakure (?) Relationships: Suffice to say that as a member of the clan that effectively conquered the world, Shuji isn't like much by his peers...or anyone, really. History: Since the fall of the NCIA, the Matsugami and Nite clans have become an open shame to both the village of Cloud and the country of Lightning. As perhaps the most authoritative power during the reign of the NCIA by merit of holding the largest number of command positions, both clans are held responsible for the crimes, real or imagined, that were committed in the agency's name. Caught in the tumult of the fall, Shuji, then Shizuki, was in one of the most culpable positions--clan heir. Though absent for the takeover and nearly all the reign of the NCIA, the young man was still publicly acknowledged as the inheritor (for the most part to hide his absence). Even in light of the fact that he had traveled to Iwagakure, seat of the resistance, to fight against the NCIA at the end of the war he was still persecuted as harshly or more so than the active participants. General opinion (in full ignorance of how most clan structures operate) seemed to be that he should have put a stop to operations that sparked the war, as though a single word from the heir could have stopped the machinations of the head. The time immediately following the fall was terrible for many. The military infrastructure imposed by the agency came down, but the world was only beginning to return to the time before the empire. As follows the collapse of a government, crime exploded, even if only for a short time. People died of illness, starved, stole and murdered, and it was all laid at the foot of the NCIA. By proxy, the Matsugami, and especially the governance of the Matsugami, were held responsible for all the wrong following their supposed rule. It was at this time that Shizuki, having outlived his usefulness to various rebel groups, was repatriated by those he was working alongside at the time. Though he'd gone AWOL to support the resistance, it was thought that Shizuki had been captured while hiding from the fallout of "his pet empire" dying. His father having already been "dealt with", Shizuki had the highest position among the clan members left, and the farcical courts used this to divest the entire clan of their estate and holdings. To twist the knife, Shizuki was even stripped of his name, those presiding stating that with nothing to inherit, there was no need for the heir's ceremonial name. Dubbed 'Shuji', the young man was then sentenced to a maximum security mine for an indeterminate number of years. The mine...the time 'Shuji' spent in that deep, dark hell is a time he speaks of to no one. To those few left that knew him well, he had gone in a handsome, youthful, exuberant man and come out a pale shadow. He emerged only by the graces of the newly-inaugurated Raikage, though the memory of his clan's actions have not yet faded. His former abilities locked away, his body dessicated, he is reduced to the strength of a child freshly graduated. In the time he has been out, he has heard just how his "parole" will go from the slim number of allies his clan has left--allowed just enough time to regain a small measure of strength, then carted off on a sure-death mission by a missions office acting on spite instead of the Raikage's orders. ShujiShizuki won't allow it.
