Clan Info:

The Izuna clan's origins lie in a monastery in Iwagakure's lands. The monks adhered to the Shugendō doctrine, choosing to live hermetic lives in the mountains of Iwa and devote their lives to study of the spirits. Once per five years, all the hermits would be called to the Gyoja Monastery to meditate and discuss the world of spirits. These holy men and women were often sought out as healers for common village dwellers who didn't have access to modern medicine, and were revered for their abilities to drive evil spirits and dark energies out of people and places.

When ninjutsu was introduced to the world, several of the monks learned to manipulate the elements to aid in their meditations on the spiritual world, believing that this power was tied to the spirit realm and that knowledge of the elemental arts would bring them closer to the spirits. It was at this time that several of the venerable members of the Gyoja Monastery, regarded as the most knowledgeable of all the hermits learned to call forth the spirits of the kudagitsune to do their bidding. The creatures are curious, resembling a white weasel with a fox's tail, a kudagitsune can grow to be as long as four feet, but typically stop growing at around three feet. The creatures have powerful powers of premonition, allowing them to avoid most dangers with ease, and ultimately come to be regarded as a symbol of good fortune.

This new breakthrough in manipulation of the spirit world caused the monks of the Gyoja Monastery to band together, sharing their arts and practices among their fellow holy men. Although there were few women among the hermits several new factions sprung up from relationships shared between some monks. This gave rise to several factions within the Gyoja Monastery, the most powerful of which proved to be the Izuna. As time passed, the Izuna's mastery of the kudagitsune caused them to quickly become the dominant sect and establish a firm footing in the archives of the monastery. As the times changed, the Izuna pledged loyalty to Iwagakure no Sato, lending their skills as trackers and tacticians to the ninja nation. During the NCIA war, the Izuna retread deep into the mountains, disappearing from the known world until the conflict had ended.

The Izuna have since reemerged and decided to lend their hand to the new government as powerful spiritual warriors. Their command over the kudagitsune allow them to perform powerful techniques that set up impressive traps over a battlefield, and when it comes to the hunt, the eyes of the thousand are second to none.
