The Littlest Spiral // Kumogakure’s Crimson Tempest

User Data

Posting: 1-2 times per day.

Character Slot: 3 (early permission given.)

Basic Info

Name: Uzumaki Koharu // Haru

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Rank: Gennin

Birthplace: Konohagakure no Sato

Village: Gaijin Mura // Kumogakure no Sato

Birthday: June 15

Theme: Jonathan Flemming-Bock ~ Windrider //

Appearance

Hair: Shoulder length, bright red

Eyes: Dark purple with a faint lilac spiral

Height: 5'2"

Weight: 120 lbs

Skin: Pale

Description: Marked by both a slight frame and short stature, Koharu’s form does little to reveal the true ferocity which dwells within. Reliance on stereotypes is key with the young woman, as her hair invokes thoughts of quick tempers, sassy demeanors and an undeniable vivacity. For Haru, all of these things are true. As for her eyes, their faint spirals indicate Namikaze blood and, perhaps, a greater potential than even she is aware.

Koharu’s ninja gear is somewhat typical. She wears a simple white tee with a modest V-neck paired with steel grey slacks tucked into brown mid-calf boots made of leather. Over top of this, the girl wears a ninja vest with a furry hood and Sherpa-lined interior. It is both warmer and softer than the standard shinobi vest, and was hand crafted by her Namikaze Grandmother as a defence against the cold air of Rai no Kuni’s mountains. On the back of the vest, a modified spiral design has been embroidered, in recognition of Koharu’s shared Uzumaki and Namikaze ancestry. The same vest is worn by all three of her elder brothers.

Overall, the girl is a small and slight Kunoichi- unremarkable if not for her plentiful crimson hair.

Personality

Positive: Courageous, Empathetic, Motivated, Patriotic, Honourable

Negative: Foolhardy, Stubborn, Cocky

Likes: Cakes, Pastries, Desserts, Baking, Sweets, Sparring with her mother.

Dislikes: “Basics” Training, Children, Musical Practice

Personality: Born in Konoha, Koharu embodies the will of fire. She is passionate, loud and, at times, unapologetically bossy. Her speech, as a result of her immediate family’s rigid formality, is strangely floral and incredibly sophisticated, which clashes with her seemingly antagonistic nature. Nary a contraction is to be seen within the young girl’s vocabulary, which is often peppered with crass vocalizations of all kinds.

Koharu will never back down from a challenge, no matter how dire or grim things may seem. It is almost as if she operates in a world where she is immortal, unable to resist a chance to prove her undying spirit. The mildest of wagers is seen as a malicious taunt, resulting in the girl giving 110% even in insignificant situations. A dare is all that is needed to prompt Koharu to journey to the ends of the earth.

Secondary to her strange obsession with rising to any and all occasions is Koharu’s addiction to all sort of baked desserts. She relishes cakes, dreams of cream pies and lives for the crunch of brittle. Her father, with great disdain, once noted that the fastest way to his precious daughter’s heart was a glazed scone… a fact he found both disappointing and hard to admit.

Even with her inability to back down and noted aggression, peeling back the layers of Koharu’s arrogant shell is rather easy. At the core of the woman lies a soft and loving heart. She is quick to trust and takes joy in meeting new people and securing them as friends and allies- provided they do not challenge either her or her love of carbohydrates.

Relationships & Family

Uzumaki Nobunaga: Koharu’s father, and a staunch defender of the value in civilian life. Unlike generations before him, he chose not to follow his shinobi heritage and instead works as a civilian advocate within the military. Despite not taking up arms, he is a strong force in the lives of all of his family members and leads their household valiantly. It is from him that Koharu’s formal mannerisms originated. Nobunaga’s staunch belief in the “fine arts” shaped her into a begrudgingly cultured young woman. Though appearing youthful, the man is 57.

Uzumaki Akane: Koharu’s mother, a Namikaze, shaped her remarkable zeal more than any other person in her life. Being an accomplished Shinobi in her own right, and a master over the wind element, she showed Koharu that it was not only men who could shape the world with their strength. Though her demeanor is gentle and her methods a large measure more… refined than Koharu’s, her influence on the teenager is clear. Hers is a shadow that Haruwill always seek to overtake.

Uzumaki Kageyasu, Kawanari and Kazuhiko: Koharu’s three older brothers (19, 20, & 22) and sworn protectors. Each of them is a spitting image of their father: tall, blonde and muscular. The three brothers are all high ranking Jounin within Kumogakure no Sato, and act as a three man team. Kazuhiko, the eldest, often returns home to train Koharu and it was the tutelage of the three that allowed her to fly through the academy.

Kinsen ‘Raz’ Rasen: Although Koharu has heard her family speak highly of the man, their paths have never crossed. They are related maternally, though it is no great source of pride for Koko and her immediate family. Collectively, they regard him as somewhat of a distant star, with respect for his might but little regard for his individual effect on them.

Namikaze ‘Izzy’ Azrael: A distant cousin of Koharu’s that she has never met.

Character History

Although Koharu and her immediate family all reside in Rai no Kuni, their shared history is one that possesses global reach. Konohagakure blood has been mixed into the girl, along with that of the wanderlust Namikaze clan, to create a woman of truly muddled composition.

In the time before Koharu and her three elder brothers, there were only two: Nobunaga and Akane. Nobunaga was a civilian consult within Konoha’s military and accomplished politician. Akane was a noted Jounin with a mastery over the breeze. They met after Akane was assigned to act as the man’s bodyguard on the campaign trail and have not parted since. The woman had never thought she might fall for a civilian, but the politician’s good looks and commanding voice had combined into a power all their own.

The spring following their marriage brought the first child, and the beginning of the end of Akane’s Shinobi career. Kazuhiko, a spitting blond image of his father, would be followed by three more rambunctious boys of immense Uzumaki potential. The redheaded Namikaze, having largely given up her previous heritage, no doubt felt outnumbered. It was not until the summer of 2099 that Koharu arrived, and quickly became the apple of her family’s eye.

Despite Nobunaga’s traditional thinking, he was not disappointed that his final child was a girl. He seemed to enjoy having a miniature of his beloved wife running around, and would often take special care to dote on his growing daughter.

Their lives were idyllic, and might have stayed that way were it not for Kumogakure’s invasion of the continent.

The NCIA’s control of the world was absolute, and their tolerance for Shinobi was clearly nonexistent. Many of Nobunaga’s friends and family were cut down simply for their mastery over the Ninja arts and, though his prestigious political career has thus far ensure the safety of his wife and children, he felt he could take no risks. The man turned his back on Konoha and its suffering Shinobi and signed on as a civilian with the NCIA’s army. It would take years before relations with their Uzumaki counterparts were healed, though Nobunaga understood their ire.

Life under the NCIA may have been stressful, but it was not overly uncomfortable for the small band of transplanted Uzumaki. Nobunaga’s position assured Akane’s safety even as a Kunoichi so long as she did not practice, and his sons enrolled under the agency’s banner in the Central Ninja Academy to further cement the family as a patriotic, useful unit within the newly formed empire.

Only Koharu, who had been forbidden by her parents to enroll in the Shinobi academy, seemed to be displeased about their situation. They lived in the civilian quarter of Nigiyakashufu in a large home that always seemed perpetually empty. The halls echoed with the memories of the three brothers that were never home, leaving Koharu feeling bored and unfulfilled. Though she lived a rich life by civilian standards, practicing music, culinary arts and many sports, she longed for the life of the three eldest Uzumaki children.  What was her potential? What legend could she create through her command of chakra? What secrets lay within the spirals of her eyes- a trait only she had inherited from her mother?

In time, the NCIA fell and the political landscape changed dramatically, leaving Nobunaga out of the job and the family’s future uncertain. Koharu’s brothers, still living, had remained loyal to the Empire but had not taken up arms in the final conflict. Instead, they chose to stay home and defend their home and neighbours along with others from the civilian quarter, including their long-retired mother. This move, while not motivated by selfish thoughts, would come to spare the family from much of the ire that would soon rest on many NCIA shoulders.

After the fall of the NCIA, many expats from around Rai no Kuni found themselves unable to return home for fear of retaliation. Nobunaga, who had yet to mend tie with the Uzumaki clan, also felt the same fear. This lead to the five of them to settle in a small mountain village near the border with Shimo no Kuni, along with many other previous NCIA workers- from civilian grunts to highly ranked generals. Government grants and general public sympathy for the empire’s previous servants led to them being able to form their own, new home. In a move that could be called “self-depreciating” they christened their new settlement “Gaijin-mura,” the outsider village.

Now members of the newly-formed BOLTS, Koharu’s brothers once again left home and restarted their lives as Shinobi. Nobunaga, instrumental in the formation of Gaijin-mura took a seat on its council. It was this peaceful existence, one that seemed almost exactly like their time in Konohagakure, that prompted Akane to finally share the nature of her heritage with her daughter.

She was of Namikaze blood, the very same that had birthed the legendary Kinsen Rasen. The faint spirals in her eyes were an indicator of great potential, and a greater tie to her nomadic ancestors than her brothers could ever hope for. It was this genetic disposition that had caused Akane and Nobunaga to be so cautious. She was different from her brothers who were loath to leave the borders of Rai no Kuni. Her parents feared she may leave one day and never return… But perhaps it was now time to allow those fears to slip into the wind.

It was at the age of 13 that Koharu was finally entered into the ninja academy in Kumogakure no Sato. She lived with her brothers in their modest town home and returned to Gaijin-mura on most weekends. Aided by the four Shinobi in her family, the young woman was easily able to master the basics of being a Kunoichi. Following her graduation three years later, the girl moved back home to her village, though still practises her Ninjutsu with her mother and returns to Kumo often in order to accept missions and perform her duty as a Shinobi.

Equipment

Koharu’s Shiny Hitai-Ate
Description: An archaic headband from the time of the 4th Great Shinobi War, when all nations banded together under a single banner to fight off an evil greater than themselves. Somehow, this headband has withstood the test of time. Rather than a village symbol, it simply possesses the kanji for "Shinobi" ( ). Koharu has polished the face plate to the point where her reflection is visible, and mounted it on an inky black bandana.

Cost: 125
Special Attributes:

Ultimate Tag-Team: Coalescence Jutsu deal an additional 10% Base Damage. This may allow a jutsu's Base Damage to exceed natural caps. This effect is only active while the headband is being worn.

Reflective Surface: You get a +%10 on your dodge. This attribute does not stack with itself. If the fight is said to be in little or no light then your bonus is taken away unless you role play a way for it to be back in action. (i.e. - "The missed fireball ignites a log, giving light too the dark forest.)
