Samurai Kenjutsu | Samurai Sabre Technique

Effect: This skill allows for the purchase of techniques with the [Hijutsu; Samurai Kenjutsu] descriptor. When performing Weapon Attacks, Weapon Techniques, or techniques with the 'Hijutsu; Samurai Kenjutsu' descriptor, a character with this skill may increase the base cost of that attack by an additional 'x' Chakra to increase the damage of the attack by 1(.25y)x, wherein y is equal to the current rank of this skill. The value of 'x' may never exceed half of the Ninjutsu damage cap relevant to this character's current rank.

Description: A trait unique to the samurai clans of the Land of Iron, Samurai Kenjutsu is a basic but evolved style of kenjutsu developed to allow the Samurai a continued level of competitiveness with the ever-growing shinobi world. This style of swordplay involves utilizing one’s chakra to encompass their sword in a sharp but flexible aura, allowing the user to extend their reach or even alter the shape of their strike. Though a very similar technique exists within the shinobi world, the Samurai have gained mastery over its simplicity and are able to use their chakra as though it were a literal extension of their body.

Requirements: Character Backstory detailing a character's training as a Samurai; May be learned by non-Samurai from a character with this skill with a 10 post training

Ranks: 2 | The second rank requires Jōnin Rank or level 60.

Cost: -2

Designer's Notes

Previous version found here.

Resubmitting this to adjust the effect, as it suffered from the same problem that the old Juken did. I also tweaked the requirements a bit, as it felt incredibly restrictive to limit this to just Path of the Warrior when its' restrictions should be more RP-based.

This should have some post training for teaching it to non-samurai.

Also, I'm assuming the extra damage allows it to break the base damage cap correct?

Added a 10 post training to learn it from a character that knows it.

It doesn't add base damage, so... I can't accurately answer that question. "Yes", maybe? This increases the base cost but just adds another modifier; it can, however, push the base cost over its cap.
