Ikiryo Uta is on the run from Konoha police office Auburame Shiina. As a famed member of the Tracking Unit, Shiina is merciless in his hunt. Ikiryo Uta has eluded capture all his life. His escapes from any and all forms of law are notorious throughout both Oto and Konoha. When Uta steals valuable intel on Konoha Ninja, it's up to Shiina to get it back. With opposing specialties in Escape and Capture, who will come out on top?

Uta scoffed. Once again he'd waltzed through Konoha and stolen valuable intel, and this time it was perhaps the best score of all. Names and assignments of all of Konoha's externally operating ANBU teams. This would be the kind of score that would set Uta up to be a legend in both villages, as a hero back home and villain in Konoha. He was personally convinced that the leaf village had a hand in his homeland's woes, and as an Ikiryo his duty was to stand up for his home, and thus he had broken in and taken what he wanted without anyone seeing him. His ability to see spirits helped him track patrols easily, and avoid capture from the clumsy fools who dared to follow him afterwards. This time was different though. Uta had a great feeling about starting the mission, but he was now feeling unusually tense. Escape was such a carefree endeavour for him, to have it suddenly flood him with apprehension was a cause for great concern.

Concerned, Uta moved into a nearby building that was uninhabited, no doubt the owners were out for the days work. He stopped to catch his breath and adjust his arm, which was shaking. What is going on? This isn't me. Snap out of it Uta. The Otogakure shinobi was used to these missions, and had even had to fight his way out of them a few times before, but this was new. Uta didn't like new on missions, new often meant dangerous, and this intel couldn't afford to be lost.

OOC: I’m a little surprised Tony didn’t take the chance to make us face off on the backs of Kangaroos or something lol.

From behind his mantis-printed Konoha Military Police mask, Aburame Shiina felt the world through his swarm-sense. Intercepted communications from Otogakure implied that a notorious asset of theirs was operating in the area and targeting Konoha, and it had fallen to Shiina to capture or kill the intruder. Multiple previous attempts had failed, and Shiina had hypothesized due to the method of past thefts that the intruder had some sort of technique that let him pierce standard ANBU concealment with ease. Consequently he had constructed his trap by relying on his kikaichu, which hopefully would not be detected by the enemy’s technique. He had covered nearly a full third of the village with his allies, and the moment they detected a ninja he did not know leaving an ANBU blacksite he moved. His insects coagulated into a solid mass, and he flickered through the cracked window in a blur of motion. “Irikyo Uta,” he said, identifying the thief. “You are under arrest. Therefore, I advise you to surrender immediately. No harm will befall you.” The implied threat hung in the air, made all the more real by the sudden appearance of a shimmering dragonfly, her chakra coruscating around her. "You have three seconds to comply."

This jutsu may not have its cost reduced by any means and may be upkept indefinitely, or until 32 Hives have been actively deployed.

Description: With a whisper of chakra and mental commands, the user of this technique sets the destruction bugs to crawling from the various orifices in the body. Usually, these are artificial wounds kept open for the express purpose of deploying the Kikai. This is considered the standard method of getting the destruction bugs out and onto the battlefield for use in various other techniques. This is the gateway to all other techniques in the secretive world of the Aburame Clan.

Description: Having signed a contract in blood, any ninja with this Ninjutsu technique can summon a beast, or beasts, from another plane of existence to use in battle. They must use their own blood as a "sacrifice" to summon them, after performing the hand seals corresponding with their animal and marking their point of summoning on the ground with both hands. Animals range from the famous Japanese Triad of the Toad, Snake, and Snail/Slug, to dogs, spiders, turtles, monkeys, and many more.

Effect: This character gains an additional stat called "Kikai Hives", recorded beneath their tank stats; this stat is not revealed during combat. The user begins play with 5 Kikai Hives, and gains an additional 1 Hive per 10 levels. Additionally, this allows for use of techniques with the [Aburame Hijutsu] descriptor. [Aburame Hijutsu] are treated as if they dealt [Void] damage, but item effects or skills that reduce [Void]-elemental damage are only 50% effective when being applied to [Aburame Hijutsu] techniques.
Description: Upon birth, members of the Aburame Clan are entered into a contract with the Kikai, or destruction bugs. These bugs feast on the chakra of their host as a parasite, but in return the Kikai are able to be controlled with a simple thought and a surge of chakra. Within the cavities of the body of any Aburame member can be found swarms of the bugs crawling about: forever eating and breeding. The signature of the clan, the Kikai are ferociously hostile to anything that is not a host of them.

Effect: Ninjutsu from the user will deal an additional 20% base damage and cost 10% less Chakra, rounded up. This multiplier, in this case and this case only, allows you to break the base damage cap. The taker of this skill may not use Genjutsu and may not have any skills that give negative effects towards Genjutsu abilities.
Ex: 100[base Damage] * 1.2 = 120 + 100[Ninjutsu] - 80[Defense] = 140 Damage.
Description: Sometimes it takes the form as a blessing on unknown origin, sometimes as a hardened ideology crafted from an early age, and sometimes its seen as an innate ability for Ninjutsu. Regardless of its origin, the results are the same. You take to Ninjutsu techniques like a fish in water, but Genjutsu simply evades or does not interest you. Some may come to fear the power you possess, but you know that it comes at a vast cost.

Effect: User is allowed two rolls when attempting to summon, choosing whichever of the two they desire. In addition, they pick two of the following abilities.

Ink Mastery: The skill Summoning Tattoo now costs -1. The roll penalty is reduced from -50 to -20.

Portal Mastery: May bring a second summon onto the field during battle. The second summon has a -30 roll penalty due to the difficulty.

Description: The mystic is especially attuned to the otherworldly dimensions. Sometimes referred to as a 'summoner', this ninja has taken years in the study of the planes of existence and is naturally able to reach out to them with ease. They have been known to easily befriend our otherworldly partners, even those at the head of their family.

Requirements: Chuunin. Must have Path of the Mesmer, Path of the Pupil, or Path of the Shaman. May not have the skill 'Unsavory Chakra.'

Aveta's Hammer

Swimming is hard. And water is wet, and uncomfortable, and cold. Why would I learn how to swim? I mean, I can walk on water after all right? It's not like I'll ever fall in. Whatever. It's a stupid skill anyways, we were born to walk on land, not flail around pretending we're something we're not. It's unnatural.

Effect: Character may not swim in role play. Any attempt to swim results in the character needing to be saved by an outside source. This character is takes triple damage from the status effect 'Choking' when afflicted by way of water. In addition, this character is 'Afraid; 2' of all opponents when the terrain 'Water' is on the battlefield.

Defender
Effect: During this character's turn, if a non-clone ally is the target of an unresolved attack that did not target the user as well, this character takes the attack instead. This character may only apply 50% of their total defensive modifiers. Only triggers once per battle per ally.
Description: A Defender's past experiences or loving nature will not allow other's to suffer in front of them. A Defender will do anything possible to save their allies from harm, throwing themselves between their allies and enemies to do so even if they know it could kill them.

Compulsive Catch Phrase [Therefore]
Effect: The character must say their catch phrase at least once every 50 spoken words or once every 800 written words, whichever comes first. This count is kept between posts. If the character fails to meet this requirement they take a -5% reduction to all of their non-tank stats for the rest of the day, cumulative. This reduction lasts for the rest of the day in character or at least two (2) days in real life, whichever is longer. The chosen phrase must be at least one word.

Description: The character has a compulsive habit to repeat the same catch phrase over and over multiple times a day. It is borderline disease in nature, and if the character does not, or is unable to say the catch phrase so often, their morale drops subconsciously, leaving them considerably weaker. Dattebayo.

"Surrender? I don't know who you are but you'd have to be new at this whole hunter game if you thought that was how this went down. Never been caught before, and I don't plan to start with you. So back off before I send you and your little pet home in a body bag." Uta stared with a serious glare at his foe, hunter nin usually struggled to find him, it was strange for one to have done so this quickly. Furthermore, his eyes were seeing something strange, a rippling effect upon the konoha-nin's spirit unlike any he'd seen before. The summon was going to hurt, Uta was close to making his own pilgrimage and to be down that tool now when he could have used it irked him greatly. 

Resigning himself to combat when his opponent made no obvious signs of retreat, Uta sighed heavily and extended his air pressure device from inside his hand. "Hate to do this to you, I just wanted the scroll. Nothing personal, you understand, but I am going to leave you drowning in a pool of your own blood." A murderous grin flashed across Uta's face, and he took up his battle stance, checking out the surroundings to see where he could find advantage against this mysterious foe.

"Shiina will hurt you, though. He's not... gentle." His eyes glowed, and silver powder fell in tiny motes of light from his wings. "I hope you see sense soon, Mr. Thief." Illusory chakra flowed from the summon's body, carrying a genjutsu that would bind the criminal's legs. If successful, the technique would alter the sensations to his legs, trapping them in a constant feedback loop.

Description: Long-time pacifists and masters of the art of Genjutsu, the Dragonflies of Shizukana Lakes have developed a type of Genjutsu that splits yin and yang chakra so finely that it can be used offensively and defensively at the same time. Even as the user utilises genjutsu on another being, a fragment of that chakra is retained and circulated through the user's body, pre-emptively cycling retalitory genjutsu out of their body. This automatic chakra cycling requires great patience, chakra control and teaching, but is devastating when used correctly.

Effect: Refractive Archetype techniques increase the user's Concentration and Genjutsu stats by 10% until the end of their next Response Phase.

Description: The mind is a strange and unknown organ- the depth of the entire human experience happens all in this single mass of flesh. You have a blessing, or maybe a taught ideology, or even an natural talent- no matter the origin you have a gift for Genjutsu. The molding of the mind and illusion just comes so naturally, you feel more at home in the wrappings of a strong Genjutsu than you ever did in your mother's arms. There is just something so right about it. Of course, the cost of such a mental talent comes at a great cost to the body.

Effect: Genjutsu of the user will deal an additional 20% more base ghost damage and an additional 20% stat reduction. This multiplier, in this case and this case only, allows you to break the base caps. You may not use any Taijutsu and may not have any skills that give negative effects towards Taijutsu abilities.

Ex: 100[base Damage] * 1.2 = 120 + 8 [Genjutsu Modifier] = 128 Ghost Damage.
Ex: 100[base Stat Reduction] * 1.2 = 120 + 20 = 140 Stat Reduction

Description: "When the world is not what you wish of it- change it". When you were told this as a young child you may have taken it a bit too literally.

Aside from a mild sigh, Shiina didn’t respond to Uta’s threats. “On the contrary. You must be incompetent if you believe this has any other ending than you in custody. I am a hunter. You are prey. Therefore, you will be defeated.” Tsubasa went to work, applying his genjutsu to enable Shiina’s own offensive to cripple the invader. “Tsubasa is correct. His methods are painless, at the very least. My allies are not.” His insects were streaming towards the building from all over the village, and even as he spoke those closest arrived and combined with the smattering of insects already present, forming into two duplicates of the hunter-nin. Even more closed in, readying for a mass breach from all directions. Even if he didn’t appear so, Uta was completely surrounded by a sea of black chitin hidden in every tree, in every shadow. “Last chance.”

Effect: Creates x Insect Clones with 90 Health and 25% of the user's remaining stats. Insect Clones possess 2 Kikai Hives and do not need to deploy Kikai Hives to use them. Insect Clones may be sacrificed to pay part of the Kikai Hive cost of a [Hijutsu; Aburame] technique used by their creator. If the number of hives required is equal to or less than the number possessed by the Clone, the technique is considered a Dynamic Trap with fulfilled conditions. Maximum of two clones may be created.

Description: Long considered one of the trump cards of the Aburame Clan, the Insect Clone gathers thousands of Kikaichu and forms them into the perfect likeness of the user. Despite being made of insects the clones are surprisingly durable, able to reform if struck or even completely destroyed. Being made of Kikaichu the clones may also sacrifice their form to assist their host, often surprising the foe when a physical foe attacks in a wave of swarming beetles.

The strange insect before him did something, and Uta felt wrong. His body wasn't doing what it was meant to, like a thick fog had fallen over him. He moved his legs to charge in, but watched as they faltered, tumbling over iridescent waves of light to stand right where they once had been. Genjutsu? Space time ninjutsu? Damn it whatever this is its bad... Whatever was going on, Uta was becoming rapidly aware of how outclassed he was. This was another level above the hunter nin that usually wasted his time, and as his eyes caught sight of thousands of tiny spirits flooding the area around him, Uta realised he was in trouble. Never one to back down though, he twisted his implant into gear and fired a supersonic blast for the throat of the tiny creature that was haunting him, genjutsu or ninjutsu, wouldn't matter much if the caster was dead.

Clones:

Shiina's Insect Clones went to work soundlessly, moving in perfect, eerie unison. One dissolved into a mass of bugs and lunged half at Uta, intent on stinging and biting, venom dripping from a thousand mandibles. The other half slipped backwards towards Tsubasa and the second clone, who crouched on one knee, chitinous hands forming a swift chain of seals. The construct slapped a hand to the floor, causing ink to spiderweb across the ground for the briefest fraction of a second. A wall of dark brown chitin erupted, forming a living dome over the two clones and the Dragonfly. They were aware that Shiina's durability exceeded all of theirs, and by deliberately excluding him from the Palisade's protection it forced the criminal to adjust his strategy. Focus on breaking through the barrier to target the weaker supports, or ignore them and attempt to behead the hunter directly?

As the barrier went up around his allies, Shiina gave a rare smile. Not that Uta could see it, hidden behind his mask, but he could likely hear it in his voice. “Remember, when you languish in a T-and-I cell, this was your choice.” He snapped his fingers, and all hell broke loose.

 

Windows shattered as tens of thousands, no, hundreds of thousands of insects rushed into the building from all sides. They tore through the roof, and chewed their way through the floor , the walls creaked and bent under their weight. Glass was ground to powder by vast waves of tiny soldiers, filling the room like water in a pool. The house was torn apart as the masses of kikai started to rotate, turning in a swift funnel that quickly transformed into a black tornado of gleaming claws and fangs. They would wrap around him, buffeting him with razor claws and holding him in place. “Aburame Hiden,” Shiina declared confidently, “Mushitatsumaki!”

Tsubasa: 

Surrounded by the protective shell of a Guardian Beetle, Tsubasa waited out the sonic blast he'd seen emanating from Uta's arms. The barrier shuddered but held, and as soon as the onslaught was over the dragonfly darted out into the open, forming another blast of mental chakra. This attack was different; instead of targeting the nervous system this illusion was a sensation of overwhelming nausea, combined with a subtle jolt to the man's chakra network that would make his techniques weaker for a time. "I warned you," the little dragonfly said mournfully. "I really wish you'd listened."

Description: Long-time pacifists and masters of the art of Genjutsu, the Dragonflies of Shizukana Lakes have developed a type of Genjutsu that splits yin and yang chakra so finely that it can be used offensively and defensively at the same time. Even as the user utilises genjutsu on another being, a fragment of that chakra is retained and circulated through the user's body, pre-emptively cycling retalitory genjutsu out of their body. This automatic chakra cycling requires great patience, chakra control and teaching, but is devastating when used correctly.

Effect: Refractive Archetype techniques increase the user's Concentration and Genjutsu stats by 10% until the end of their next Response Phase.

Brahma, The Creator

Description: The mind is a strange and unknown organ- the depth of the entire human experience happens all in this single mass of flesh. You have a blessing, or maybe a taught ideology, or even an natural talent- no matter the origin you have a gift for Genjutsu. The molding of the mind and illusion just comes so naturally, you feel more at home in the wrappings of a strong Genjutsu than you ever did in your mother's arms. There is just something so right about it. Of course, the cost of such a mental talent comes at a great cost to the body.

Effect: Genjutsu of the user will deal an additional 20% more base ghost damage and an additional 20% stat reduction. This multiplier, in this case and this case only, allows you to break the base caps. You may not use any Taijutsu and may not have any skills that give negative effects towards Taijutsu abilities.

Ex: 100[base Damage] * 1.2 = 120 + 8 [Genjutsu Modifier] = 128 Ghost Damage.
Ex: 100[base Stat Reduction] * 1.2 = 120 + 20 = 140 Stat Reduction

Genjutsu Creator II

Description: "When the world is not what you wish of it- change it". When you were told this as a young child you may have taken it a bit too literally.

Effect: Genjutsu reduces opponent's stats by 5 more points per ninja rank of the technique (per skill rank). If the Genjutsu reduces multiple stats then the user must choose how to apply the bonus, but only in intervals of 5. Does not apply to tank stat damage.

Ex: Genin techniques gain +5 reduction, Chuunin techniques gain +10 reduction, etc.

Over...all over...Uta wasn't dead, somehow the obscene onslaught had left him bloodied but unbroken. His arms were useless, his legs were useless, his attack had done nothing and within moments he would pass out from the pain, only to be captured and detained. The biting swarm of insects blocked his view of anything, not that it mattered now anyway. Uta had gone in overconfident, and his earlier fears that he was outclassed proved true. It wasn't much of a fight, but at least he could ensure he went out with dignity. "I MAY DIE HERE, BUT OTOGAKURE WILL PROSPER. YOU WILL SEE OUR POWER ONE DAY, AND YOU WILL DIE JUST AS I DO NOW!" All but immobilised such as that he was, Uta urged every fibre of his being into action to twist him implant towards himself. His torso still could move and he threw himself as hard as he could forward, the spiralling waves of insects buffeting him and drawing him closer and closer to death. Then, with all his might, Uta fired his sound cannon directly towards himself. The insects had blocked all the release valves, so it did little initially, but before long an explosive crack shattered his arm into bloodied fragments as the pent up pressure sought a desperate release. With the explosion, half of Uta's torso and much of his face were removed, what little remained showed a twisted and pained smile.

Shiina gazed dispassionately at his immobilized captive, suspended in the air by living black chains. Excellent. With arms and legs bound, there could be no question that the thief had been captured. He dispersed his clones and dismissed Tsubasa, preparing the captive for transport. He absorbed Uta's last words with as much emotion as mask would suggest. There was nothing he could do, and his words were just as much empty air. "You will be remanded into the custody of Torture and-"

 

Then Uta's body exploded, showing the Aburame and his swarms in gore and viscera. For a long moment, nothing moved. Even the insects stilled, feeling the frustration and irritation of their master. At length Shiina removed his blood-spattered mask, looking at the corpse with his own eyes. He turned away as waves of insects spilled away, leaving no trace of their existence. Even if the boy had kept some way to end his own life, ANBU might be able to recover some information from the body. He called it in, quietly seething. Victory, snatched from his grasp at the last moment. The boy was a nuisance, even in death.
