  1. Skill Name: Jigen-Ryu (School of Construction of Character) Bloodline: Shimazu clan Description: This is the fighting style of the Shimazu clan, utilizing the rage and frustration the members of the clan feels as a focus for martial prowess. The samurai will charge headlong at his enemy, disregarding his own wounds in an effort to destroy his chosen foe. Effect: The samurai may inflict the "Enraged" status on himself at anytime, as well as turn it off at anytime, but only self-inflicted rage. If the user is inflicted with the status effect 'Enraged' by someone else, they may not deactivate the status effect until the number of turns of affliction have passed. In addition, the samurai may make double the number of basic sword attacks at x base damage, where x is the level of the weapon. Counts as a fighting style and may not be stacked with others (ie: Thorn Style, Snake Style, etc). Used in the Setup Phase, can only be activated/deactivated once per turn. Cost: -2
  2. Adding the Christmas gift! 4 jutsu points, plus $50 and a randomly rolled gift! 14: 2 Rank 3 caltrops
  3. So, is this a no go?
  4. I should ask this... is it okay to play a Necropolitan, or no?
  5. Hell yes! Character is made! Human Dread Necromancer or Drow Warlock? Which would you prefer?
  6. Would love to join in! Also, for those who need it, look here for typical D20 DnD rules. A question for our DM would be, is he allowing third party books like Green Ronin's or Mongoose Publishing's Ultimate Equipment series? Also, important question... What level should the characters be?
  7. Fair enough I suppose... And that would give me back quite a few points...
  8. This is both to allow for training, as well as information gathering and roleplay purposes. 1) Allows for training in Chunin/Jounin/Senin jutsu/skills 2) Allows for training in dead characters' PERSONAL jutsu/skills that are allowed by the player who owns the character in question. 3) Scare the living shit out of NPCs because I'm effectively bringing the dead to life temporarily. 4) Further my character's travels on the road to spy-dom, as a lot of players in this game seem to overlook that aspect of the job.
  9. Given how my character won't actually be USING this technique/armor, just the knowledge of it, I'm open for suggestions on altering things about it. Because to be honest reading through it all gave me just as much of a headache and I'd be GLAD to alter this thing to something more comprehensible. I just don't know where to start! Edit; Got rid of the one ability because in all honesty, after reading through it, it looked to me like the character was PERMANENTLY destroying their stats for a one-battle save... and that makes little sense to me. So yeah... gone... Still, now that it's down to only those few abilities, having this cost 3 sp to get the contract and only be equippable for 5 turns... I'm thinking I need to extend that a bit. What do you think?
  10. TO MAKE THIS CLEAR! This was originally submitted by Kouta as part of his own techniques, but allowed my character access to them. As I'm trying to make a technique and item based on it, I need to submit an updated version. Kouta has given me permission to do so, so here it is! Mascara Espantoso Alma [Dread Soul Mask] [Mas - KA - ra | Es - pan - TO - so | AL - ma ] Item Type: Summoned-Armor [Living Mask] Placement : Head [Face] Attributes: Emocion, Instintivo, Poderioso, Gluttoneria Description: "Sit little ninos, and you'll hear a tale of magic and nightmare..." Deep within the darkest borders of some of our far-away countries, dark rituals were at work. For centuries, these cults manipulated the human soul. They tortured the still living, and bound the already dead. Their kind was not nice nor nor kind. Cruelty was their trade. It has been said that entry into their organization was marked by receiving a mask. The mask was always fashioned of the bones of the victims lost to their rites. With this dark heritage, and their wicked rites of evil, these people brought the masks to life. They never resembled the original soul, the legends say, but they were alive, and they were pure evil. These fierce masks had a life of their own, had their own emotions and their own rules. To recieve one, you had to accept it completely into you. You had to ask to be possessed of one. Their kind were ruled by the masks they possessed, who knew all of the torturing rites to continue their evil games. These masks seemed to have only one purpose, and that was to kill everyone they did not possess, and make them one of them... But then again, it could all be nothing but a fairy tale.... Quote Emocion Description: Spanish for “Emotion,” this specific trait of the Espantoso Alma is that the user fails to have any Emotions. They no longer feel fear, or compassion. Their killing falls directly in line to what we would diagnose as “Sociopathic.” They kill simply because something is in their way, and feel no remorse after the action. This only applies to fighting however, as the Espantoso Alma will still permit its wearer to feel their most base emotions and desires when no object is in their way, but their actions are almost always violent. Effect: The user is not affected by the Status Effects “Afraid,” “Charmed,” “Enraged,” “Petrified,” “Scared,” or “Terrified” as long as they wear the Espantoso Alma. Ability only applies to statuses used by an opponent of equal or lower rank than the wearer. Quote Instintivo Description: Spanish for “Instinctive,” this specific trait of the Espantoso Alma is that the user follows their basic instincts far above anything else. If their gut says to kill, they kill. If it says to flee, then they flee. The user is opened to up to their survival instincts here, with no barriers or filters that a normal person has. This usually means that the Espantoso Alma is highly aware of threats to the physical person, and will alert the body it commands to avoid damage at all costs. Effect: If, while the user is wearing the Espantoso Alma, they are attacked for the first time by an enemy (since they donned the Espantoso Alma), then the user may spend Stamina equal to 3x their OPPONENT'S level. If they do so, then the opponent’s chance to hit begins at 10%, and the accuracy is re-calculated. This ability DOES affect Genjutsu. Ability only applies to an opponent of equal or lower rank than the wearer. Can only be used once per battle. Quote Poderioso Description: Spanish for “Powerful,” this ability of the Espantoso Alma relies in boosting the strength of the body. By reinforcing their body with spiritual energy gathered in the darker realms of the world, attacks that land by the wearer of this mask seeming to sting that much more. A visual effect of this ability is that all of the wearer’s hits seem to bear a flash of purple energy upon connecting. It is said the enemies exposed too often to this strange otherworldly power build up a resistance to it for a short while. Effect: Every time the wearer of the Espantoso Alma lands a hit upon an enemy, then the enemy must roll a D10, where a 1, 3, or 5 will result in the attack dealing 1.5x its normal damage. If the enemy rolls a 10 on their die roll, then this effect is nulled until the end of battle for that opponent only. Quote Gluttoneria Description: Spanish for “Gluttony,” this trait of the Espantoso Alma has nothing to do with the user. It is all about the Espantoso Alma, and its requirement of being accepted or wished for by its user. The Espantoso Alma will not appear, nay, cannot appear, until the user wishes it, and it cannot return after being dismissed, except for a few brief moments. Effect: This item may only be used if the user activates the jutsu “Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Mascara Espantoso Alma.” Using this jutsu requires a summoning contract with the Espantoso Alma. After the Espantoso Alma is summoned once during battle, any other summoning of it by the jutsu above will only last for a duration of 1 turn before being dismissed again.
  11. 1) Yeah I wanted to keep it in the line of where the technique creates an item. Meaning that that item still follows the regular gear rules in that it can be broken by someone in an attack (in case someone REALLY wanted to make sure nobody could get the secrets of the dead). I know there's very few techniques for dispelling/disrupting jutsu, so this just made things easier. 2) Fair point. I may have to go and get a revamp of it done, if Kouta will permit it. 3) If you're pulling from a specific character when creating the mask, then the techniques are limited to those that that character knew, but means you can pull Personal techniques from them (with the original owner's permission only). If you're summoning from just a regular schmuck NPC, then he only has access to general and village skills or techniques, no bloodline skills. I'll agree that there must be a sheet for named characters though. Too much of a chance otherwise of abuse. 4) The spirit in the mask counts as a teacher of appropriate rank for the technique or skill you are trying to learn, however, they must still spend the skill points and Jutsu points as normal. This does however mean that they can train in such skills/techniques without having to constantly wait on another to post (because RL does get in the way at times). As for Jounin-taught skills... No, this will not count as that, unless an Admin or Moderator wants to make a particular skill or technique available to the player, in which case it's at the Admin's/Mod's discretion. For most techniques and skills though, this still counts amongst your normal limits. 5) Yep, pretty much, although there's a saying I was referring to as well. "A lie is simply a way of disguising a truth, whereas a false lie is a truth that noone believes". The example I heard was that it is a lie to say that the sky is green, but that lie disguises the fact that the sky isn't green. However, a false lie is a lie that is also a truth. The infamous 'Sound of one hand clapping' can be described by cupping a hand repeatedly, or it could be silence, or it could be the sound of slapping someone's face. A false lie is a collection of truths described by something that sounds improbable or impossible.
  12. Name: Mousetsu Itsuwari no Kamen (Mask of False Lies) Placement: Head/Face Description: This mask, created from the bones, dust and ash of the dead, could be seen as a horror in and of itself, yet is in fact an attempt to take an inhuman technique and redeem the knowledge of its creation to make something positive for the world. The shape and form of the mask changes with each summoning, never the same twice, as the spirits inhabiting it can only be bound to it once, and the shape reflects those within.Using this technique allows the user to speak with (and be partially possessed by) the soul of one who has died for a limited amount of time. During this time, the user may attempt to learn jutsu or skills that they fit the requirements for that he can learn within the timeframe that the dead spirit knew. Effect: When equipped this item inflicts 1 turn of the status effect 'Afraid' on all enemies of a rank equal to or less than their user. Role Play Effect: The wearer of this item may train for any skill or technique that requires Chunin/Jonin/Sennin training without the required NPC present in battle. However, the player must still spend the skill points and Jutsu points as normal. Techniques and skills learned this way still count amongst your normal limits, they do not count as Jounin-taught skills unless you have an Admin's or Moderator's permission. You cannot learn bloodline skills or techniques unless you have the bloodline yourself. If you cannot complete the training before the end of the summoning, you must find another user of the skill to train under in order to complete it. Special: This technique can also be used to learn non-jutsu and non-skill information. For example, if someone was killed to silence them and prevent them from telling it to anyone, they can do so if summoned into this armor. Cost: Can only be summoned. Shell left over is considered worthless money-wise. (Due to its material construction, nobody but the creepiest of people buy the bones of the dead) Mask's effects will only last for one topic or battle.
  13. Name: Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Mousetsu Itsuwari no Kamen (Summoning Technique: Mask of False Lies) Type: Ninjutsu, Personal to Sukrai Terrick, can be taught, Forbidden Rank: Jounin Cost: 250 chakra Damage: N/A Effects: Summons, equips, and activates the abilities of the item "Mousetsu Itsuwari no Kamen". These abilities last for 1 topic, or 10 posts, whichever is shorter. At which point the mask's physical shell is left behind, but provides no bonuses. Description: This technique was originally derived from a vile practice of binding tortured souls into a mask that was then worn to gain power, the souls within driven mad with vengeance, pain, and bloodlust. While Sukrai Terrick was made to learn these vile practices, he has reforged them into a means to make contact with ancestors and loved ones of the past so as to draw some form of worth from the pains he went through. With this technique, it is possible to bring forth lost knowledge that would help others to regain legacies shorn away from families, while also granting the chance at final words with them, so that they may say their goodbyes... Points: 4 Mousetsu Itsuwari no Kamen armor found here.
