The Hisame Clan
[Chilly Rain]

"I want to protect the person important to me... I want to work for that person. I want to fight for that person. I want to make that person's dream come true... That is my dream" (Haku).

Hisame Ichizoku;
Clan Village: Kirigakure no Sato
Clan Starter: Unknown
Clan Head: Hisame Haruyuki & Hisame Shougo
Clan Age: The Hisame’s most ancient roots are displaced through the translation into modern day vernacular. The only thing the texts can come into agreement with is that they settled in the northern reaches of Mizu no Kuni prior to its switch into the modern geographical outlines. Once called the 'Yuki Clan' due to the nature of their bloodline, through bloody eradicationsThe modern Hisame have been in the transition to the modern world and were one of the ancient founding families of Kirigakure no Sato.
Clan Status: The Hisame contain the decedents that helped shape Kirigakure to its core. They are a respected, yet feared clan for their dangerous abilities and precise manipulations. One of their own was a part of the Seven Shinobi Sowrdsmen and they have always had a protective eye out for Kirigakure no Sato. One thing can strongly be said about the Hisame family, they have a strong sense of loyalty to anyone they consider their family and will relentlessly conceive a reality to match their judgment on the matter. The strongest familial tie they have to another clan currently is the Suizuma Clan.
Clan Bloodline: The Secret Arts of Water (Hyōton)
Clan Element: Ice 氷遁

Clan History;

if7PCf5.png

When Civil Wars ravaged the Country of Kiri, those with Kekkei Genkai were commonly used as the most terrifying tools of war, many people irrationally feared them. The members of the Hisame were used as such instruments of fear. Their manipulation of water, wind and specifically Ice Release Ninjutsu has steadily etched their way into their own stake as one of the protected, loved and loathed clans of the island Ninja nation.

Their northern village was in the shadow of an impressive stone castle. It was the Hisame’s first residence and stronghold during the bloody days of civil war in the nations. With their element of expertise, they secured the north and used the chilly temperatures to their advantage. Soon after the establishment of the tiny village of Niim, a sundry of people from across the island trickled up north to gain favor of the clan and its protection.

This village of Niim would produce one of the more famous Hisame whose name would be Haku. In that time and because of their impressive ability over the element of ice, the Hisame were named the Yuki clan and that was how their infamy spread.  Haku’s mother tried to deny her root to the Yuki and in the process, her son was ignorant of his own abilities. When he discovered them by accident, and paraded around like any proud child to their parents. Haku’s father brought together a congregation of mobsters and killed Haku’s mother and then Haku killed them. Orphaned and without roots to the main Hisame family, he was discovered by Momochi Zabuza, a proclaimed swordsman of the SSS- ironically the sword’s connection to the Seven Families didn’t run far. Zabuza used Haku as a weapon and the boy saw this man as his true father. He simply agreed and used every bit of his life to protect Zabuza from certain death. A Hisame’s loyalty is impeccable to those they care about and he gave his life for Zabuza. In death, the two would remain buried together and find momentary peace in the afterlife.

Their skills have made them long sought after by others from distant nations. The Mizukage ordered that they be given as much protection equivalent to their prized Kaguya. Over the years after many genocidal attempts the Hisame have finally found structure, stability and a future under their clan head Miyoko. Gathering the elders, establishing a council and organizing specific training to help those born with the Hisame birthright develop their abilities has brought a proud name to the clan name.

Typically the Hisame have littered the ranks of Kiri's Special Ops forces, some even achieving the ranks of Captain while others have sparkled under the mask of Hunter-nin. More commonly these days they have sought to make their presence better felt in taking up roles such as at the Kiri Academy and distributing their Chuunin and Jounin to help aide and guide village Gennin along their path.

The great invasion of Kumo all but destroyed the village and the clan. Miyoko lead most of the clan into hiding in caverns beneath the country and setting others to sail into the continent or far out into the Eastern Ocean. Some members have slipped through the reach of both the village and Miyoko, siding with the now grand Empire.

Certain that Kiri will rise again Miyoko and the Hisame Council remained loyal to Kiri and planned to do all in their ability to assist in any uprising against Kumo.

Miyoko was nowhere to be found several years after the war. There had been assumptions of her death, or perhaps a recoloization somewhere in the world, but as for their status in Kiri, there was an open spot. With the remnants of who were left, it was swiftly decided that Hisame Haruyuki would be the head of the family, however as he never returned from the battle against the NCIA, he left left only a word of advice, proclaiming his brother Shougo as the residing head of the clan. It was discovered that several of the missing Hisame had been captured in an Otogakure prison. A handful of these people were freed at the hands of Haruyuki and with his help gained asylum in Otogakure no Sato for about five years. After Haruyuki returned back to Kirigakure, he sent word to his fiancé, Fubiki to start the Great Migration back home. Haruyuki was welcomed back with mixed emotions, but despite the negativity he was met with, several of his kinsmen were willing to accept him. The Hisame renaissance was about to begin.

Clan Lore;

I will either find a way or I will make one.
(Ancient Yokan Proverb).

haku_mask_finished_by_meeshy_cosplay.jpg

Like any ancient culture, there are subtle hints hushed away in the past and lost from oral translation to written text, but the fundamental roots survive somewhere. As time and need continues, sometimes that information is lost and sometimes it is not taught- but the secrets of these people were not beyond excavation. The Hisame were wiped out multiple times and those who could translate the old texts from the strange language were sparse. But the tales still survive in the minds of a few.

The Yokan (lingering winter) people were a tribe that lived on an island off the base of Mizu no Kuni bearing the name of Tennin no Shima (Island of the Angels). Today, the island in question is named Ijin no Shima (Devil Island) and is rumored to be haunted and cursed. These people were deeply spiritual and were a very close based group surviving for an untold amount of years on their island. They believed that the Five Kami were in war with the Jubi, but it wasn’t until the Ten-tailed beast was split into nine separate parts would the Yokan ever hear the outcries of their prayers. As the Rokubi (Six Tailed Beast) moved in to their waters, it became to gain a dangerous cult associated with it. The Bijuu brought nightmarish power and some people were easy to be swayed to believe in false deities and world fantasies- but not the Yokan

According to ancient Hisame lore there were four spirits who were the intermediary messengers between the human race bound on the planet and heavenly beings in the upper domains.  Yukionna the thief, Mujina the tactical, Zuijin the powerful and Nadare the lost are the four names embedded in the oral tradition. These four spirits were meant to give instruction to the Yokan to destroy the cult so that the Rokubi would not gain influence within the developing world. The task would not be impossible, but the survival of the Glacium people would not be assured. But something went unexpected.

Nadare engaged the demon- he was attempting to gather data on the metastasizing cult and the strength of the Rokubi. The great slug fought back and killed Nadare, which was a great awakening for the four messengers. In order to preserve Nadare’s life, they had to turn him mortal before he had faded back into nonexistence, back into a slumber for a thousand years for his second birth. The three spirits chose the Head Yokan Priest. It was a magnificent honor for the people, to have their leader be the embodiment of a heavenly spirit. But in order to complete the process, core elements of the world had to be used. The only way they could seal Nadare was to mix two great forces into one. Yukionna the thief stole the wind from the Eastern Horizon and Mujina the tactical won the Sea from the demon in a bet. Zuijin the powerful mixed the two elements together and infused them into Lumen's new body. The high priest was already skilled in the water arts, but the mixing of the man's spirit and Nadare caused a catastrophe, causing him to transform into the Ice Titan. It was a process gone terribly wrong and the three messengers were uncertain of what to do next.

The Yokan people were not ignorant, neither were they weak in their understanding or manipulation. The priest’s wife, known as the Ice Maiden fought a terrible inner struggle, but knew what she had to do to prevent the Ice Titan from destroying her people. She had to banish him, away forever into another dimensional plane. It tore her up emotionally, but the Ice Maiden held the affinity with the Arctic Foxes and with their blessings, the Ice Titan would be restrained in their plane. She drew up a scroll technique- a ritual that would subdue the Titan and render it under her control. She had the responsibility to control her husband’s transformed power, to use it to protect her people and to fight the Rokubi. The Ice Maiden knew her exhausted body would cause her to age quickly and created a pendant that would house some of her power as a protection ward when she no longer was of the realm. It would also be the key to a secret layer where she kept the ritual tools.

In order to pass on the gift of ice to the Yokan people, the three remaining spirits had to become mortal and seal their power to the Ice Maiden. It’s said that she beheaded them and froze their faces to preserve their power and bound them to a necklace that would further drive their power. This power would be a protective charm against the metamorphosis that killed the high priest and it would forever grant her and her family the power of lice. It is believed that she battled the Rokubi and won victory by chasing the Slug far away to the main island in the Eastern Tides. With their granted power by the deities, they found the responsibility to move to the main island and begin anew, to constantly ward off the Rokubi. It was rumored that misuse of the gift would result in a curse and terrible blood over their head.

Funeral Rites;
Friend: "Rest in calm springs." The bodies are drained of hydration and poured into the ocean or a viable, running source of water. The bodies are mummified and buried.
Foe: "Rest in frozen waters." The bodies are drained of hydration and frozen or absorbed by the victor. The bodies are then destroyed.

“From the land you were born,
To the ocean you will go.”

“To travel the empty road alone,
With only your sins on your shoulders.
And your love on your legs.”

“Soon you will be judged by the five bright ones,
And my name will be the last on your book of life.
And I will carry this until I become water again.
Now we must part ways. Many streams to one ocean.”

“Rest in frozen waters.”

Hyōton
Secret Arts of Water

(Advanced System)

Hyoton.png

The Hisame Kekkai Genkai, Hyōton (氷遁) allows them to combine wind and water-based chakra to create ice at a whim and through willpower alone. At its highest level, the ability grants the control over water down to the particle level. Most if not all Hisame are born and blessed with the Hyōton birthright. Their use of ice is unique, in the way that it is even fire resistant to a point, and is almost a different brand of arctic magic than those found in Yukigakure. Using this special ability the Hisame have developed a number of powerful techniques, with their trademark technique, Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals (Makyō Hyō Shō, 魔鏡氷晶) allowing them to surround an opponent with an array of ice mirrors and attack them at an incredible speed. And also Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death (Sensatsu Suishō, 千殺水翔). A good Hisame can find a balance between tactical precision and packing a fair punch. It is their bloodline simply called Hyōton and dubbed Hisame's Secret Arts of Water that has made them among the most sought after Clans on the island Ninja nation. It is also their unique ability that have made them at the mountaintop of Kiri's elite.

While not as flashy as some of Kirigakure's Nobel Clan's kekkei genkai, the Hisame birthright is formidable for its elusiveness.  Its strength is not tied to an organ or a mutation, but a deep ancestry that has consistently produced some of the most formidable shinobi.  Not too long ago, Hisame children were murdered in their beds and hunted in order to destroy their bloodline.  The nightmare that Hisame can be cannot be affixed by surgery or sealing.  They will hunt forever.  Many wish to steal the Hyōton to unlock its shadow side, the rare recessive gene that steals the ability to craft chakra entirely.

In the ancient lore, the Hisame believed that four angels had bestowed upon them the power of their bloodline. Their came not from a unique organ fueled by chakra, but an innate source of power locked in their blood and available on their whim. As such, the Hisame believed that with each milestone of their power, another blessing of an angel was bestowed upon them. One of the most famous Hisame, Haku was known as the “Child of the Cursed Yuki Clan”, a misnomer, based solely on their ice abilities. To claim they were cursed, well, their skills attest to that.

Demonic Ice Crystal Blood
Description: At this level of ability, the Hisame can fully craft their trademark ice and may draw on small traces of water to fuel their water and ice techniques. While having large bodies of water near are beneficial, they are not relied upon as much as other shinobi of the same caliber.  A Hisame is not normally known for their ability to manipulate wind, but it comes as a second nature to them nonetheless.  The Aspect of Yuikionno the Thief was rumored to be the one who combined the stolen wind and won water to create the ice Hisame were renowned for. While he crafted their ice, he ensured that it was of a different breed than normal ice. This ice was more durable against the elements
Effect: Characters with this skill gain the skill 'Combinatorial; Ice' for 0 Skill Points. When purchased at character creation, the skill 'Combinatorial; Ice' replaces their village bonus skill.  If the user owns both 'Subtle Elements: Water' and 'Subtle Elements: Wind' they may choose to apply both to a technique 'Combinatorial; Ice' descriptor. Whenever the user hits an opponent with a technique that has the 'Combinatorial; Ice' descriptor, reduce their Evasion by 40x for one (1) turn, where x is equal to the user's ninja rank.
Requirement: None, may be taken at character creation.
Cost: -3

Eternity of White Frost
Description: At this level of bloodline ability a Hisame may also meld into objects provided that they are of Water or Ice base, though they are still clearly visible at this stage.  This allows the Hisame to make for quick escapes or provide for a necessary breather.  At this level, a Hisame will attempt to cloak themselves in mist before striking, to cover up their exposure.  It has been noted that when a mist mysteriously appears, your life is on borrowed time.  Mujina was the smartest of the Tenshi patrons, who was rumored to win the essence of water from the Sea herself in a gamble. He was the one who forged the Hisame ice colder than typical ice, it was said where Mujina walked, his footsteps were icescapes. He was even able to transfer anything into ice and freeze fire itself still.
Effect:  When the user uses a technique with the Combinatorial; Ice descriptor, they gain x 'Essence of Frost' where x is equal to their rank with a maximum of 3.  Only three Essences of Frost may be gained per turn. The user may apply  1 turn of 'Hypothermia; 1' to any Combinatorial; Ice technique at the cost of 2 Essence of Frost. For an additional Essence of Frost, this may become 1 turn of 'Hypothermia; 2'.   Essence of Frost may not be spent in the same Main Phase Action that created them.

Wrath of Cold Sorrow
Description: At this level of bloodline ability a Hisame may meld into objects provided that they are of Water or Ice base, they are still visible while in the object though their image is distorted.  While still relying on additional tactics to hide themselves, a Hisame gains the upper hand by manipulating their own image and that is capable of causing a form of motion sickness and headaches for an untrained eye attempting to follow them.  Any trained Hisame will use their distorted image against their opponents, mostly as scare tactics.  Hisame are known to create and meld into water on a whim now, solidifying mirrors wherever they please.  According to Yokan literature, Zuijin was the brute force of the angels. He was the invoker of justice and bestowed upon the Hisame the fortitude of their ice, which would grow as they grew. His gift allowed the Hisame ice to slice through the thickest of defenses and bring a crystal gavel down upon their enemies.
Effect: The critical hit chance given to Combinatorial; Ice techniques increases 5x where x equal to the user's rank. This is an activated effect and may not be activated in consecutive Main Phases.
Requirement: Chuunin, level 40.

Spell of the Frozen Tenshi
Description: At this level of ability a Hisame may create and use Water and Ice Type Jutsu even without a source of water present, using minuscule amounts of water within one's own body will suffice. At this level of bloodline ability a Hisame may meld into objects provided that they are of Water or Ice base, they are only slightly visible and can appear transparent. These Hisame hunters appear as mist children themselves while tailing their prey.  Stories in Kirigakure lore point to children that get lost in the mist and spend the rest of eternity traveling it searching for a way out and will sacrifice weary travelers to escape.  In truth, those children weren't lost at all.  Hisame reaching this strength have been seen commanding the will of water and ice without by their will alone.  The Aspect of Nadare the Lost rumored to be the angel in which the Rokubi dealt a fatal blow to, causing him to merge with the Yokan Prophet, finishing the bloodline limit of the Hisame. As a demon hunter, Nadare’s abilities were profound and the wound he sustained had a dabble of the Rokubi’s chakra left in him as he became human. This trace of demonic energy fused with the Hisame blood, making them effective in dealing with demons.
Effect:  The  user may convert 2 'essence of frost' into 1 'Permafrost' during the set-up phase as an action. Permafrost may be consumed in one of three ways.

Add one (1) Demonic Ice Crystal Mirror to the field' per Permafrost consumed, to a maximum of 2 Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors to the field at one time made this way. This may not break the Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors jutsu's mirror cap.

Consume one (1) Permafrost to reduce the speed reduction effect of the Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors jutsu by -1% and increase the chance to dodge by +1%. per 'permafrost' consumed.

Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals (Makyō Hyō Shō, 魔鏡氷晶) I
Type: Ninjutsu [Hisame Clan | Ice]
Bloodline: Hyōton; Gift of Ereptor
Rank: Gennin
Cost: 80; 4 * Number of Mirrors upkeep thereafter.
Effects: Creates 11 Demonic Ice Mirrors around the battlefield. For each mirror, the user gains +1% chance to dodge non-Genjutsu attacks aimed at them. Each time they successfully dodge an attack at them, a mirror breaks. This bonus only pertains to the user of this jutsu. If the user dodges an attack, they will automatically meld into another mirror. If the user is hit by the attack, the mirror does not break. Mirrors may not be targeted by attacks. May not be used in conjunction with Demonic Mirror Ice Crystal jutsu II or III. The user's speed drops by 6% of its base for each turn they remain within the Demonic Ice Mirrors. Iterations of the Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals may only be used two time per battle.
Description: The trademark Jutsu of the Hisame, they create a dome of eleven mirrors made out of ice to trap an opponent. Twelve remain at ground level, four are placed above the first six and angled toward the ground, and the final mirror is above the rest and facing the ground. A Hisame can then enter one of the mirrors and travel between them at an incredible speed; in fact, the time in transit is almost instantaneous. During transit, one can throw needles while remaining virtually unassailable. If the mirror the Hisame is currently in is shattered, they can leap out of one of the fragments and continue their attack. Though they are made from ice, they are pressured with enough chakra to resist fire almost completely. The technique puts a large strain on the user, so their movement becomes progressively slower the longer he maintains the mirrors.

Description: The Hisame are renowned for their elitist command over the harsh ice element, their bodies even become accustomed to the chilly chakra formations and they develop a certain unconscious bond with the element. In the highest stages of their manipulations, the Hisame can easily control the ice to form extensions of their own bodies, primarily, appendages where their fleshy human parts used to fit. In most cases, however, the ability is used to create a limb sprouting off the Hisame. Although with specific crafting, the limb can be shaved to resemble a more humane depiction, the limb that is created looks as if it were lopped off a creature of myth. Its bones are ice icicles that continue the theme of demonism in the clan. The technique requires no seals to perform, which is probably the result of years of practice to utilize while their human limbs are inoperable. Each limb can be used as freely
