Clan Age and Status: The development of a Bloodline suggests that the Clan itself is rather old, however, their active and steady involvement as Shinobi is a rather new phenomena. Their willing cooperation with the Tsuchikage and other Earth-nin gives them a rather favorable status in the village, and outside knowledge of the Clan is only known to those who were exposed with their involvement in the NCIA.

History:

Very little is known of the Clan’s pre-modern history, for the Enjin lived in a sort of self-imposed isolation in the Tsuchi no Kuni Moutains nearest to the Northern Sea. Even the development of their bloodline is a rather unknown fact, given that it was allowed to evolve naturally overtime due to the close knit community of people who shared the biological trait. Connection with Iwagakure no Sato before the Kumogakure Empire were faint at best, and it was believed that the smoke-like abilities exhibited by members of the Enjin clan were the results of genetic anomalies and not an Advanced Bloodline.

However, the self-imposed isolation came to an end with the invasion from the NCIA, and their governance of Tsuchi no Kuni. Recognizing the Enjin’s abilities as a true Kekkai Genkai, as well as their rudimentary skills and techniques a solid base to form powerful ninjutsu, the Clans was quickly assimilated into the growing Empire as weapons of war. While reluctant to serve the powerful war-time force, their exposure to advanced ninjutsu and other Kekkai Genkain allowed them to vastly improve upon their own latent abilities, a mixed blessing to the secluded Clan.

When the NCIA rule had come to the end, the several years of strong integration were not abandoned, and the Enjin continued their willing service to Iwagakure and Country of Earth. Their skills have become increasingly more welcome as the country has continued to suffer from invasions and attacks despite the fall of the Empire.

Politics:

Because of their relative distance from traditional Shinobi Clans, the Enjin hierarchy is loose at best. Clan members generally view their families as a close knit community rather then an established fighting force. It’s only been in the past decade with their sudden involvement with Iwagakure as Shinobi clan that more established methods of distinctions were used. Now, and official “Clan Head” is appointed to speak on behalf of the Clan, generally voted upon by a small “council” comprised of the most influential people in the clan.

Physical Characteristics:

Like a large, extended family, there are some physical traits [such as closeness in heights and body builds] that are passed along, however discrepancy is not unheard of [especially in recent years where half or quarter blood Enjin are becoming more populous]. As a whole, a full blood Enjin is generally taller then average, with thin, wiry build that gives them a rather wispy appearance. Regardless of the hair color, almost all hues have a rather “ashen” shade.

The only dominant physical trait that is directly tied to the bloodline is the color of an Enjin’s eyes; their is a strong correlation between the color of one’s smoke and the color of the possessor's eyes. Most Enjin have “smokey” colored eyes, where the fairer colors [such as light silver, or even off-white] are generally reflective of similarly pale smoke; while darker irises are associated with darker smoke.
