Personality

Suzume tends to be playful, and a bit of tease with people she's familiar with. Otherwise, she tends to be generally friendly and approachable. There are some things that she tends to try and hide, however, as she believes it's too much hassle to deal with. Her history and original family are an example of this. She often hides information that she doesn't want to disclose by mixing in personal information whilst withholding other aspects of her life to give an illusion of closeness while keeping people at arm's length. It takes a lot of trust for her to open up to anyone. Suzume keeps a thin layer of Gravity wrapped around herself as she dislikes being touched. This tends to repel most things that get in contact with her or attempt to touch her an inch before her person. She spends a lot of her free crafting snow flowers and trying to make them last longer.

History

Prologue - Earth

Suzume was born on Earth. Her family had been fairly isolated during the Kumogakure invasion. Suzume was 4 years old when her family had gotten the call from the head of the clan to move back to the moon, and had no idea why they had to leave their home behind.

Chapter 2 - Child on the Moon

As she started to mingle with the other clan children on the moon, she started asking the taboo question, one that she didn’t quite understand, “Why did we have to leave Earth?”.  This made her greatly unpopular, especially since the other clan children had experienced war and hardship. Suzume didn’t understand the extent of what had gone on back on Earth, and spent her time talking about the bright blue skies and the fluffy clouds, and the fields behind her family estate. Suzume was quickly ostracized, and often picked on. One day she stumbled across a book detailing Toneri’s bridge and its’ guardian. Her curiosity grew even more, and her desire to see this bridge and return to Earth grew even more.

When she started talking about the bridge, a group of her fellow clans children gathered around her, daring her to go find it and bring them proof she had been to Earth. Upon much goading, Suzume set off, determined to prove to her peers that she could do it, and also with the hopes that she could at least see for herself what had happened on Earth.

In a huff, she set off, travelling further than she had ever done before. She didn’t realize when the light started waning, and before long, the moon was already dark. Suzume struggled to find her way back, but no matter where she went, she couldn’t recognize anything. After spending hours circling around the area trying to find any recognizable landmark, she gave up. She found a cavern to spend the night and keep her out of the elements. Upon wandering into the cavern, Suzume saw a small lake. Excitement built up in her. She had gotten quite messy during the day’s adventure, and she could finally clean herself up. She excitedly entered the water, but upon entering the lake, she found herself falling uncontrollably for what seemed like hours.

Chapter 3 - Down to Earth

Eventually, she managed to crawl back onto the shore of the lake but the landscape was completely different from what she had known. She wandered for a couple of days before the hunger and worry caused her to end up crying by a well beaten path. That’s when somebody stumbled across her. It definitely wasn’t a person from her clan, as they numbered so few everyone was recognizable. This was when Suzume realized that she might be somewhere completely new. The man questioned her for hours while getting increasingly frustrated with the answers. Nothing the girl was making sense. She claimed her village was huge, with towering buildings, and floating islands, but nowhere in the five nations boasted floating islands, and whilst some of the larger hidden villages had towering buildings, none had matched the architecture she described. Feeling exasperated, he ended up taking her back to his home village of Yukigakure until they could find where she belonged.

Suzume was placed in an orphanage, where she managed to make friends to her delight. The overly friendly girl with strange eyes blended in perfectly, until one day, on a routine check on the orphanages, an Iwagakure official noticed the girl with the strange eyes. He had seen Konoha’s hokage, and knew of the Byakugan, and the strange similarity caused him to alert it to the officials. The Tsuchikage, Alchem Syaoran was notified and Suzume was taken to Iwagakure. Upon meeting the young girl, Syaoran had to admit her eyes were quite similar to the byakugan.

Chapter 4 - Acceptance

Not wanting to cause strife between his village and Konoha, Syaoran contacted Hatake Yatako, the Hokage of Konohagakure. Yatako, also, upon meeting the girl could see the similarities between the Byakugan and her eyes. The only problem was Konohagakure was not missing any Hyuuga so the girl was an anomaly. Even still, Yatako offered to take the girl back to Konoha, upon when Suzume burst into tears, not wanting to leave her new friends she had made. Upon hearing this, and realizing that the Hyuuga were not missing a member, Syaoran stepped in, stating that the girl will stay where she is. She had already settled in, and if she wasn’t a Hyuuga then similarities weren’t enough to hand her over to Konoha. Due to the stress of the whole situation, Suzume started wearing coloured contacts to hide the eyes that set her apart from the other children.

Through this ordeal, Suzume managed to figure out that she was actually on Earth, and what she must’ve fallen into was Toneri’s bridge. Since that day, she set out on adventures, again trying to find her way back to the bridge. She missed her parents, and she had to prove to the clan children back on the moon that she had successfully made it to Earth and back, but ultimately her efforts were unsuccessful. She eventually gave up searching, instead choosing to attend the academy as an orphan to train as a ninja to aid on her quest to find her way back home again.

Chapter 5 - Current Situation

The moment Suzume entered the academy, she was noticed by a man named Sato Tenzin and taken in as a ward where she current resides in Iwagakure.

Path of the Balanced | -1 SP

Spoiler

Description Rather than specialize themselves in a particular field, there are some shinobi who see such things as limiting their potential. These people often use all that they have at their disposal in order to achieve victory, rather than focus on just one path.
Effect Characters with this skill may reduce the cost of all Hybrid Techniques by -1 JP, to a minimum of 1. Additionally, characters with this skill may choose an Advanced Path from the ones allowed by their chosen Balanced Masteries.

Road of the Balanced
Economy of Motion All Hybrid Jutsu that involve Taijutsu do not require hand seals. May take 'Path of the Tactician'.
Mind's Eye Every 100 points in Accuracy increases your chance to hit with Concentration based Genjutsu attacks by 2%. May take 'Path of the Mentalist'.

RP Guide
Ninja on this path are open minded in their choices, opting for a wide variety of skills and abilities versus a focused concentration. They dabble in all the shinobi art forms, combining the arts of illusions and physical manifestation into one cohesive technique. Ninja who follow this path are generally more moderate than their peers, seeing the strengths (and weakness) in everything.
Advanced Paths
Path of the Harmonious

Elemental 0 Spent
Combinatorial; Snow | 0 SP Village Skill

Spoiler

Requirements Subtle Elements; Water & Wind

Combinatorial; Gravity | 0 SP - Heavenly Manipulation of a Transient World

Requirements Subtle Elements; Lightning, Water, Earth & Wind

Elemental Specialty; Water Specialty | Level 30 [LOCKED]

Effect User has -10% chakra/stamina cost (rounded up) for all Ninjutsu -or- Taijutsu -or- Genjutsu (choose one when this skill is learned). Water Jutsu cost one less JP to a minimum of 1. This effect may stack with other skills, to a maximum of -2 JP per technique. User receives the skill 'Subtle Elements; Water' for free and may purchase an additional rank of 'Subtle Elements'. If the user already has 'Subtle Elements; Water', they may have their points refunded.

If the user already has 'Subtle Elements; Lighting', they may have their points refunded.

Level 80 5 post training.

Taijutsu Skills 1 Spent

Tentai Kunshuryu|Celestial Monarch Style|天体君主流 | -1 SP

Spoiler

Description A style that was developed after the Otsutsuki returned to the moon. When the Otsutsuki suddenly left Earth, they were forced to spar and train with each other in order to improve their skills. Due to the clarity of their eyesight, they've had to adapt their strikes to be more precise to get around the heightened reactionary skills of their clansmen, and use clever diversions to try and land blows. Just as the stars in the heavens above shift and move into meaningful alignments, the Otsusuki who practice the Celestial Monarch Style learn to move their body into the perfect aligntment to anticipate their opponent's reactions, rendering even the most consumate defences pointless against their heavenly power.
Effect The user may learn techniques of the [Celestial Monarch Style] Taijutsu Style and may accumulate "Alignment Charges". "Alignment Charges" are gained whenever an opponent is successfully hit with a Celestial Monarch Style technique. In addition, a character possessing "Alignment Charges" may expend them in the following ways:

• The user may spend X "Alignment Charges" to increase their Accuracy by 40X until the end of that phase.
• As a Set-Up Phase action, the user may spend 4 Alignment Charges. If they do, choose one Tentai Kunshuryu Style Taijutsu used in the Main Phase this turn. It gains the effect: 'When dodging this technique, roll two dice and take the lowest result.' This may only be used x number of times on each opponent per battle, where x is the user's rank. 1 = Gennin, 2 = Chuunin, etc.
• The user may spend "Alignment Charges" to pay for techniques that require them.

Clan Skills 3 Spent

Heavenly Manipulation of a Transient World |-3 SP

Spoiler

Description Since times prehistoric, the Ōtsutsuki clan has been known to have exerted a mastery over the primal forces of the world or other such celestial bodies. Specifically, the Ōtsutsuki have shown an exceptional ability to force their will upon Gravity itself. Though the power is common among members of the clan, it manifests at various ages and at differing stages of power.
Effect Characters with this skill gain the skill "Combinatorial: Gravity" for 0 SP.

Bloodline Skills 4 Spent

Tenseigan Vision | Rank 1 / 4 | -1 SP

Spoiler

Effect While the Tenseigan is active, a character with this skill’s Accuracy, and Evasion are increased by 1.25x per rank in this skill, with ‘x’ being equivalent to the wielder’s level. While Tenseigan Chakra Mode is active, a character with this skill may also increase a non-tank statistic of their choice by .625x per rank in this skill. The value of ‘x’ may never be less than 'y', where 'y' is equivalent to 20 + 10 for each rank of this skill, beyond the first. All statistical bonuses provided by this skill may not exceed 1.5x the base value of the individual statistics.
Description The Tenseigan's visual acuity is comparable to its predecessor, allowing its inheritors to perform great feats of agility. Though it is initially weak, the Tenseigan's optical prowess far exceeds a standard eye, and progressively allows wielders access to incredibly telescopic vision.

Tenseigan Focus | Rank 1 / 4 | -1 SP

Spoiler

Effect While the Tenseigan is active, Genjutsu performed by an opponent of equal or lesser rank than a character with this skill incur a 10% reduction to total Ghost Damage, and effect per rank in this skill. The duration of status effects applied in this way are reduced by 1 turn per 2 ranks of this skill, to a minimum of 1. While the Tenseigan Chakra Mode is active, a character with this skill gains a number of chosen Elemental Specialties equal to their current rank in this skill minus one (1); these Elemental Specialties may not be re-chosen once selected for the first time and allow this character to purchase techniques of the corresponding element(s), though they may not use them outside of Tenseigan Chakra Mode unless they naturally possess the required Subtle Elements skills. This skill may not stack with other skills that reduce the effectiveness of Genjutsu.
Description The ability to see chakra in its various forms is a rare gift. While the Tenseigan is active, the effects of Genjutsu are greatly diminished against those who wield the Tenseigan's visual abilities. Similar to the abilities granted by the Byakugan, the Tenseigan's ability to bypass Genjutsu and see through to the true nature of things comes naturally and easily to members of the Ōtsutsuki clan.

Tenseigan Chakra | Rank 1 / 4 | -1 SP

Spoiler

Effect While the Tenseigan is active, this character gains an additional tank statistic called “Tenseigan Chakra”. Each rank in this skill increases the total value of “Tenseigan Chakra” by 150. Tenseigan Chakra may be substituted for any other chakra cost aside from the Tenseigan upkeep. If a technique has at least 50% of its chakra cost paid for with Tenseigan Chakra, it also inflicts the status effect “Celestial Judgement” for two turns in addition to its other effects; multiple applicatons of "Celestial Judgement" are cumulative. If a technique has at least 50% of its chakra paid for with Tenseigan Chakra while Tenseigan Chakra Mode is currently active, this character generates one (1) Truth Seeking Ball as if they had performed the Gudōdama technique relative to their ninja rank. “Tenseigan Chakra” does not naturally regenerate.
Description After awakening the Tenseigan, members of the Ōtsutsuki find themselves suddenly gifted with an excess surplus of potent chakra that serves to greatly augment their own. This chakra is flexible and strong, able to be re-purposed for almost any situation. Advanced wielders of the Tenseigan have been known to clad themselves in this chakra and greatly increase their fighting ability.

Tenseigan Absorption | Rank 1 / 4 | -1 SP

Spoiler

Effect While the Tenseigan is active, this character increases their block range against Chakra-based attacks by +5 per rank in this skill. Additionally, blocking Chakra-based attacks while the Tenseigan is active replenishes an amount of Tenseigan Chakra equal to 5x% of the blocked damage, where X is equal to the current rank in this skill that this character has. While Tenseigan Chakra Mode is active, this character's successful Physical attacks replenish Tenseigan Chakra equal to 10% of their damage dealt. This may not allow the user's Tenseigan Chakra to exceed its normal maximum.
Description Something of an outlier within the Tenseigan's skill set is the ability to absorb a portion of chakra from attacks used against its wielders. Though it is not a complete absorption inherently, the Tenseigan wielder may learn to expand their absorption abilities to a great level and eventually nullify large portions of incoming damage.

Event Skills

Red Thread of Fate | 赤い糸 | Akaiito | Free

Spoiler

Description The red thread of fate is an old belief that the gods tie a thread between two individuals who are destined to be together. Though often interpreted as lovers, the red thread of fate may connect friends of deep bonds or others that will have significant impact on each other's lives.
Effect Once per lifetime this character may choose to bond with another character, adding their name to this skill below. If the user has a bonded character they gain [chosen bonus]. In addition, when the user is in a thread with the bonded character, triple this bonus. Once per lifetime the user may allow their bonded character a re-roll on any die as long as they are in the same thread.

Aveta’s Hammer | SP +1

Spoiler

Description Swimming is hard. And water is wet, and uncomfortable, and cold. Why would I learn how to swim? I mean, I can walk on water after all right? It's not like I'll ever fall in. Whatever. It's a stupid skill anyways, we were born to walk on land, not flail around pretending we're something we're not. It's unnatural.
Effect Character may not swim in role play. Any attempt to swim results in the character needing to be saved by an outside source. This character is takes triple damage from the status effect 'Choking' when afflicted by way of water. In addition, this character is 'Afraid; 2' of all opponents when the terrain 'Water' is on the battlefield.

Clastrophobic | SP +1

Spoiler

Description Whether through instinct or experience, the character simply can't deal with the confined nature of some places. While they might even be able to function in ordinary situations, the stresses of combat overwhelm them for a few seconds.
Effect The first time this character begins a turn in an underground, indoor, or otherwise confined space they are 'Stunned' for one (1) turn. On the following turn this character is 'Afraid; 1' of all opponents for one (1) turn.

Uninterested Combatant | SP +1

Spoiler

Description Some people have no interest in fighting those who are obviously weaker than them. These shinobi will turn down a fight with weaker individuals regardless of the situation and will engage only if assaulted.
Effect When fighting an opponent 5 levels lower than yourself, skip your turn(s) until the opponent has a turn.
Restrictions Cannot be taken with "Self-Defense".

Merciful | SP +2

Spoiler

Description You bring mercy to your opponents on the battlefield, no matter how terrible they may be. You refuse to bring yourself to their level, and as such will always pull back on that finishing blow. Not to say you won't finish them, but everyone deserves the chance to surrender.
Effect The first time an attack from this character would reduce a primary character's Health or Ghost Health to zero (0) or less in a battle they are reduced to one (1) instead. This skill must be shared at the start of battle.

Extra-dimensional Physiology | SP +1

Spoiler

Effect Medical Ninjutsu and Items used on this character restore 15% less Health; this includes normally unmodified methods of healing including but not limited to Induced Regeneration.

Description Though the Ōtsutsuki clan of the shinobi home dimension have long since interbred with humans, the alien genetics of their forebears may occasionally show in some force force. These children are often born with minute physiological variations that render traditional medicine far more difficult to properly administer. In some born with these alien genetics, their resurgent genetics have caused only alterations in the metabolic process, allowing them to live relatively normal lives among human communities. Others may not be so fortunate, with extreme cases seeing such qualities as the growth of horns or a third eye upon their brow.

Requirements: Ōtsutsuki Clan or Approved Backgrounds detailing descent from them

Hopeless Romantic | SP +1

Spoiler

Effect Whenever this character is afflicted with the status effect 'Charmed', increase its duration by one (1) turn. This may cause 'Charmed' to exceed its natural turn durations. Additionally, whenever this character is afflicted with 'Charmed' and is attacked by the character that afflicted the 'Charmed' status effect, increase that attack's chance to critically strike by 10%.
Description Some individuals’ fascination with the objects of their desire is something more innocuous, yet equally debilitating: the desire for romance. A hopeless romantic is often left dumbstruck and flabbergasted by the beauty of those around them, finding solace only within the candle-lit fantasies of their imagination.

Skinny | SP +1

Spoiler

Effect When targeted by any attack that has a chance of inflicting the status effect ‘Prone’, characters with this skill have a 100% chance of being inflicted with ‘Prone’ for the duration indicated by the attack.
Description There’s a good chance that any skinny person you encounter is going to be swifter and more agile than their bigger counterparts, but it is equally true that when a tough guy hits a scrawny person they fall down.

Tree Climbing | -1 SP

Spoiler

Effect Characters with this skill gain one of the following effects permanently;

• Gain a -10% Chakra cost reduction on any chakra-based technique.
• All Ninjutsu techniques deal +10% of their base damage.
• Basic elements have their effects increased by an additional +50% of their base.

Description The idea behind climbing vertical surfaces to improve one’s chakra control is not new. Many shinobi traditions have taught it for years under different names. The exact details of the training vary, but the concept is simple, to climb a vertical surface one must focus a static amount of chakra to the soles of their feet. If too little chakra is applied, one simply falls. If too much chakra is used, they will repel themselves from the surface. The key is applying just the right amount, a trick which has many applications in the world of the shinobi.

Body Replacement Technique III| Kawarimi no Jutsu III | -4 JP [Evolving; 2]

Spoiler

Type Ninjutsu
Rank Chuunin
Cost x Chakra
Effect This technique may be performed as a Free Action in the Response Phase following a failed dodge roll. When determining the cost of this technique 'x' is equivalent to the cost of 1 basic attack, weapon attack, or Taijutsu that the user failed to dodge. The damage and effects of that basic attack, weapon attack, or Taijutsu are negated. The user may take no action in the Setup Phase or Main Phase on the turn this technique is used. This technique has a 5% chance to fail. This technique may be performed 1 time per battle.
Description A life-saving technique for most young shinobi, the Body Replacement Jutsu has been a staple in academy learning for many years. By utilizing their ability to manipulate chakra, with quick movement, a skillful shinobi is capable of switching their position with another object to evade damage. By creating a simple optical illusion, the user of the Kawarimi no Jutsu can make it appear as though they were damaged or even killed by the opponent's attack. Some ninja become extremely adept in the usage of this technique, and have even been known to swap places with hazardous materials to trap their enemies.

Clone Technique III | Bunshin no Jutsu III | -4 JP [Evolving; 2]

Spoiler

Type Ninjutsu
Rank Chuunin
Cost 5x Chakra
Effect This technique may be used in the Setup Phase or Main Phase. When determining the cost of this technique 'x' is considered to be the number of 'Clones' created by the user and may never be greater than 8. 'Clones' have 1 Health and 1% of the user's other statistics. 'Clones' are not physical, and may not use items, techniques or attack during their turn. The user of this technique gains +20 Evasion or +20 Accuracy for every 'Clone' on the battlefield. The effects of 'Clones' may be ignored by any character with heightened senses (i.e; Byakugan, Path of the Sensor, Inuzuka Smell Tracker, etc). This technique may be used in the Setup Phase 1 time per battle.
Description A technique that most students are required to be proficient in before they can graduate from the academy, the Bunshin no Jutsu is the most basic of the myriad of clone techniques that exist in the world. By properly molding their chakra, the user is capable of creating near perfect replicas of themselves. Unlike most bunshin jutsu, the basic clone technique does not produce physical clones but creates something more akin to a projected image, which is a real image that has no form. The Clone Technique is considered an E-Ranked jutsu, and is not very powerful, but with practice and ingenuity many shinobi have come to use it in masterful ways. Most often stalling by hiding out among their clones, or setting themselves up for a strong offensive.

Shunshin No Jutsu | Body Flicker Technique | 瞬身の術 I | -9 JP

Spoiler

Type Ninjutsu [Void]
Rank Genin
Cost 50 Chakra
Effect This technique may be performed in the Response Phase or the Setup Phase;

Response This technique may be performed in the Response Phase as a Free Action. The user of this technique increases their Evasion statistic by +50 during the turn that this technique is used. (Dodge rolls made during this turn must mention this technique.) This technique has a 5x% chance to fail, with 'x' being equivalent to the number of unresolved attacks targeting the user. This technique may be performed 2 times per battle in the Response Phase.

Setup The user of this technique increases their Accuracy statistic by +50 during the turn that this technique is used. The user of this technique may not perform another technique in the Setup Phase for 2 turns. This technique may be performed 2 times per battle in the Setup Phase.

Role Play Effect The user of this technique may reduce the required post-length when Traveling by 10% when performing this technique outside of battle.
Description One of the basic techniques taught to most students during their time at the academy. The Body Flicker Technique is considered an extremely versatile ability, and is one of the most widely used general shinobi skills. The jutsu itself is a high-speed movement ability that uses chakra to temporarily vitalize the body, allowing movement that is nearly untraceable to the naked eye. The user often disappears from the field of their opponent’s vision in a puff of smoke, as a means to further distract their path of escape. Though Shunshin has many applications, its most common use is in evading hazardous attacks.

Effect During any situation in which a character with this technique would need to calculate their "Visibility Score", they may use this technique to reduce their "Visibility Score" by -10%. "Visibility Score" reduction caused by this technique may be ignored by any character with heightened senses (i.e; Byakugan, Path of the Sensor, Inuzuka Smell Tracker, etc).
Description The Transformation Technique is a time-honored staple of nearly every shinobi academy the world over. Its concept and execution are both extremely basic, making it a perfect training technique for young students. By molding chakra around their body, the user of the Transformation Jutsu is able to temporarily take on the physical characteristics of another person. Though the Henge no Jutsu rarely offers a perfect disguise, clever ninja have been using it for hundreds of years to confound their foes.

Description
The Yukiha was forged imbuing the heart of Yukigakure into it's essence. The frosty blade exudes cold when chakra is ran along the length bringing forth fierce blizzards and strengthening it's user as it's opponents succumb to the harsh conditions. By compacting snow around the blade, the blade is said to change length and shape to suit the wielder's needs. Due to the blade's extreme embodiment of cold, it takes one that is used to the harsh environment of Yukigakure, and above average finesse to wield this blade.
