Clan Progenitor:

• Katto Sutorenja - known as the first Katto Clansman, Katto Sutorenja was mostly known for her specialization in medical ninjutsu and genjutsu. Not much is known about her early life, though she does mention often that her parents were killed off by the NCIA. The rest of her nation, including the rest of her family did nothing. She resented the acts of terrorism committed by the organization, and abhors her nation for not doing anything to stop them. She eventually settled down, realizing that her own voice would not be heard on her lonesome. A few years after the war, her children and very young grand children began to develop into very capable shinobi of their own, leading to the formation of a small close-knit shinobi clan within the country. Although created in secret, the clan began performing many different experiments with ninjutsu in order to create a much more tame version of the forbidden Edo-Tensei technique. Although not completed in her time, Katto Sutorenja created the basis of a very powerful, almost religious-style ritual that allows a clan member to communicate with spirits of the dead. 

 

Clan Head:

• Katto Suto - named after his grandmother, Katto Suto was known for the perfection of a clan ritual in order to talk to spirits. His near-obsession with the technique prompted him to study it relentlessly, until one day he realized the application of his own chakra had to be bound to a physical object that had some sort of remnant of the desired person's chakra. Once realized, he set to work finding photos and and personal possesions of his grandmother, who became the first person to become resurrected by the ritual. The technique, although immoral in some senses, was declared an upgrade to what similar techniques such as the Dead Soul Technique or the Edo Tensei technique had to offer. This technique required no human sacrifice and nothing was destroyed. 

Clan Status:

• Not much is known about this clan. Due to their investments in strategic industries in the land of hot water, they are very successful entrepreneurs who own large parts of many of the smaller resorts in the country. They are, greatly respected in Otogakure due to the weekly shipments of food they send in along with shinobi in order to be trained by the desperate country. They are relatively new though, even in the land of water, so not much information is known by the public to about their rise to power. 
• In Kumo, they are known for their great deeds to the land of Rice, mainly their donations of food, aide, and personnel, and are not looked down upon. Other than that, they aren't really known, so the natives usually stay away, as their practices seem immoral in the eyes of some.

 

Clan Age:

• Relatively new. Their origins came from a spurt of economic growth that occurred during the NCIA's reign, as smart business minds within the clan prospered and shared their wealth within their immediate families.

~Clan History~

 

The Katto family was already a major part of Yu no Kuni's community before the Kumogakure invasion. After sensing a rise in the local economics, as Spas and resorts became the main way of relaxation throughout the shinobi world, Katto Sutorenja was determined to make a coin. She began all sorts of investing schemes in many of the local restaurant chains, and initially, she failed. She thought with the rise of resorts that the nearby restaurant chains would also prosper, but for some reason, it just wasn't the case. As a last ditch effort, she continued to save up enough money through missions she would complete around her village in order to buy shares within the Yu no Kuni resort industry. First, trying her luck with the smaller, lesser resorts, she began to make back what she lost until finally she began to make a profit. 

 

Katto Sutorenja was well into adulthood when the NCIA began raiding houses within Yu no Kuni. It came in a flash, as within a few days of their arrival, most shinobi in Yu no Kuni were pulled to join the ranks of Kumogakure. Though resistance was light, as the country had been overtaken by a sense of laziness, there were members of the Katto family that didn't agree with the NCIA's methods. Mainly Katto Sutorenja's parents. 

 

As the two older shinobi were being pressured to join, they had the courage to do something that the others in their village did not, to stand up and say no. They did not attempt to overthrow the NCIA invaders, nor did they make themselves a major problem while the forces were occupying Yu no kuni, but whenever the NCIA persuaded the two to join, they simply refused. The barbaric shinobi within the high chain of command thought this behavior was a threat, as it could provoke others within the village to act the same, which could lead to an outright rebellion. So to create an example out of them, the NCIA simply forced them from their homes and executed them in front of the village. 

 

Katto Sutorenja was out on a scouting mission for the NCIA while her parents were being executed. She was informed of potentially hostile personnel in Otogakure. The assignment turned out to be false information as the rice patty they were to scout was completely empty. She was allowed to go home for a few days by her team captain, and found her parents' dead bodies outside of the village walls. From that moment on, she would work from the inside in order to bring down the organization, but in doing so, she began to resent her country for being weak enough to allow the terrorists into the nation in the first place.

 

After the war was finished, and the clan had settled itself back down into their homeland. They began to conduct light research on the Edo-Tensei and Dead soul techniques. Katto Nikko, the new clan head at the time,  realized that the couldn't use human sacrifices in order to create a connection with the souls they wish to communicate with. Years and years of research occurred underneath of the resorts the clan eventually called claim over until more and more data was found. First rats, then monkeys. It wouldn't be until much later until the clan decided to switch their route as the influx of incorrect data was too much. Eventually this obsession with both the dead soul and edo-tensei techniques would lead to eventual murder, which was illegal. The Katto knew that would bring them to ruin.

 

So, instead Katto scientists began experimenting with chakra signatures and belongings of passed away individuals hoping that this would allow them to return. It did, but not in the way they anticipated.

 

The ritual only worked once a month, as the process is very expensive and very complicated to accomplish. The first one to perform it was successfully was Katto Suto, as he was able to successfully recall his aunt into the land of the living for an entire month, before her chakra was pulled back into the seal needed to create the technique. Her body wasn't solid after all, so her soul simply floated around the Katto compound, much like a ghost would. She was conscious, though she couldn't interact physically with her summoner. Even so, the technique allowed her to enjoy life and hand great advice to everyone within the family. Katto Sutorenja's words of encouragement delighted everyone around, and since, it has been a tradition for those of the clan to visit her at least once in their lifetime.

Nowadays, the clan head, Katto Suto oversees any interaction with any dead person as clan laws prohibit certain individuals from being summoned. Suto prohibits most S-ranked criminals from being summoned, and without special permission from the Hokage or Kyoukage themselves, most Kage and Hachnin are also considered off limits too. There are rules that bypass this, though only Suto is able to act upon them. Though, Katto Suto is a strict fellow. Even he hasn't attempted to summon such dangerous entities. Hearing stories from the Fourth Great Shinobi war, he has become paranoid of bringing back ninja such as Uchiha Madara or Uchiha Itachi who were known to break the mind control tag of the Edo-Tensei jutsu. Until then, he intends to only bring back ninja who value peace and love within the world, to keep the peace and order that the Katto have fought so long to gain. Though, with another Great Shinobi War on the horizon, there may be individuals he may have to conjure so that they may help save the world one last time, even if it is against his own moral code.

~Clan Rules~

 

1. Only three members from this clan may be allowed at one time.
2. Only one character is allowed to start off in Kumogakure for mechanical purposes.*
3. Characters must all originate in the Land of Hot Water. They must travel from their original homes to their training destinations.  
4. Any Katto clansman that is considered a missing-nin for any purpose will be hunted and killed on sight by both the Konoha and Otogakure branch.
