Major Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 (edited) Investor Description: You see the benefits in long term investment, whether it be in business or other ventures.Effect: For every 1000 words written IC, roll a d11, and multiply it by x, where x is your rank in this skill. Gain the resulting roll in money. On a roll of 11, consider the value of the roll to be -1. Character must choose the location of their investment, and can't collect their returns until returning to that location.Cost: -1 and $200 per rank, 10 ranks, ranks may be taken in exception of the 'one rank per 5 levels' rule. This came from a discussion on how there needs to be other ways to make money. Word requirement simulates passing time, included a small chance to actually lose money to also simulate (any more would make this not worth taking, honestly) a somewhat realistic investment. I really haven't played with the numbers at all, but I wanted to get this up before work tonight so people can discuss the right numbers. Edited October 4, 2013 by Major
ZeroFate Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Two suggestions -Make the $ for the investment start off lower scale with the rank (it's extra work, I know, sorry). To reach rank 10 you would have to sink $25,000 into this, and you're only making back $100 per thousand words if you roll perfectly every time. -Bump up the multiplier ever so slightly too. At rank one the most you can get per 1000 words is $10, and $100 at rank 10. Nothing too large though. I wouldn't go over a 2x modifier on the rank (that'd be a cap of $20 at rank one and $200 at rank 10).
Cellar Door Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Is this 1000 word requirement universal? Do you get when training, missioning, or GM arcing? (I made new verbs) Just clarifying.
