Warr Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) A little story told to children Many many years ago -so many years ago that people don't know and have to say "Many many years ago"- a man lived here in the land of the waves. He was a man which many did not understand, and was called eccentric by the most polite people, and a raving lunatic by the less polite. He was a man named Muukuro, and he traveled throughout the land of the waves, studying the creatures here and the stars up in the heavens. This wandered was a self-styled philosopher, and a man who wished to understand the alignment of the world and of the country of the waves and the waters around it in particular. In his travels he saw many things and had many epiphanies. It was after these travels that the truest revelation came though, and this philosopher, wanderer, poet, and mathematician sat down to begin writing these ideas. With complex sketches and detailed wording, he began to write a complex work which held details that he had ascertained from the world itself and found through dreams. This man had written in this time what would be the personal zodiac of the Mizu No Kuni, or as many would call it "The Pantheon of the Wave". It was a guide which told not only about the weather and the different zodiac signs, but predicted good times to fish and lucky times to sail. Things which over the centuries proved to be true to nearly any who bothered to read. It was almost disturbing, the fact that this madman was actually a genius as well. His work's official title was "Muukuro's Tidal Almanac". It was predicted in the Almanac that a person born during a certain month would be born with a certain skill, each skill different and dependant on the person. Skill Name: Sign of the Rabbit Bloodline: N/A Description: Like the Rabbit itself, those who have are born in the time of the Rabbit are very agile and remarkably quick and ready to flee from battle. Flighty, undependable, and in many cases cowardly. These things and others fit into the personality of a rabbit. They are also passionate lovers and fighters, and when they are cornered or angry, they can be very dangerous. Rabbits are both innovators and people who revere the past and the obscure. Eccentric! Effect: -For any character born under the sign of the Rabbit, the Maximum to-hit chance is now 85%. The minimum chance to hit this character is now 10%. Cost: -3 Skill Name: Sign of the Fox Bloodline: N/A Description: Like the Fox of legend, people who are born during the time of the sign of the fox are very quick of thought. They tend to be greedy, and clever, as well. There is a saying that when someone who is born under the sign of the fox sees something they want, they do no stop until they get it or something totally disables them from doing so. In many cases those under the sign of the Fox are flighty, and happy to hide if there is a danger they cannot hold against. Like almost every other animal, the coin of a Fox flips many ways, and they also tend to be determined and somewhat tricky and deceitful. Effect: -People who are born under the sign of the fox are quick of thought and good tricksters. Because of this, they are able to purchase genjutsu or Ninjutsu or Genjutsu trap type techniques which were made by this character (It actually has to reflect this in the description)for 2 JP less than they would normally cost. Cost lowering can not make jutsu less than one JP. -People who are born under the sign of the fox are also prone to having a fear of being hurt, or receiving the final retribution for their trickery, and as a result, have tendency to be very fearful even if they don't mean to. When a person born under the sign of the Fox is confronted by a threat, they have a chance to be struck by dumbfounding fear. When first entering a battle, a person born under the sign of the fox has a 15% chance of being struck with the status effect "Fear", for two turns. Cost: -3 Skill Name: Sign of the Snake Bloodline: N/A Description: Snakes are creatures which are complex, clever, and sometimes selfish. They tend to act in a way which many of the others in the animal castes do not understand. This is reflected in the actions of those who are born under the sign of the Snake. Variety and adaptability are keep points of their personality. There is sometimes a cold and controlled way about how they move or act, and they tend to be people who are shy at times, and almost overwhelmingly charismatic at others. It could be said that no snake is really the same, but one thing is true that the share. Everyone hates the bite of a Snake. Effect: -Snakes are creatures which are feared because of their poison and their possible unpredictable action. People born under the sign of the snake are like Snakes in this matter because any status effects of Poisons or Poison Type techniques used by this user last one turn longer. -However, a Proverb says "What goes around comes around.", people born under the sign of the Snake are, like physical embodiments of this proverb, inflicted for one turn with whatever poison they used upon their opponent. Cost: -2 (Maybe -3) Skill Name: Sign of the Mosquito Bloodline: N/A Description: Mosquitoes. What could really say of such things? They tend to be annoying, greedy, and have no problem passing on or delighting in sick things or preying on weak animals who can't swat them off. Though it is not something people enjoy to admit, those born under the Sign of the Mosquito have those qualities and more, sometimes seeking to spread their mental ill to others. Effect: -Mosquitoes are spreaders of disease and pestilence in the worse cases, and annoyances in the best. Reflecting this factor, a person born under the sign of the Mosquito is sometimes a spreader of disease and pestilence and sometimes only a mere annoyance. Once per battle, a person born under the sign of the Mosquito can attempt a basic attack "Bite" (Not a bonus attack, it takes their attack turn for that turn, if they only have one), and if the bite hits, the bitten has a 30% chance of being inflicted with the status effect "Sickened" for one turn. -Balancing out this advantage is the fact that any attack of the sort which was described above can only apply half of it's Taijutsu modifier. Cost: -2 Skill Name: Sign of the Cat Bloodline: N/A Description: Flighty, whimsical, flirtatious. These and things like "possessive", "emotional", and "clingy" are also things which describe those born under this sign. Sometimes they are innately motherly, and other times they are insanely childish. People born within this sign sometimes no their strengths and are cocky because of it, or other times do not and are shy because of it. Cats tend to run from a true threat as long as they cannot win the fight and those they love can flee as well. Effect: -Like the creatures which they are representatives of, those born under the sign of the cat are rumored to have "Nine Lives", as a result people born under the sign of the cat are adept at dodging dangerous blows, and gain a bonus of +10 to the result of their roll to dodge/block an attack would kill or incapacitate a character. Cost: -3 Skill Name: Sign of the Dog Bloodline: N/A Description: Like Dogs, those who are born under the sign of the Dog are intensely loyal and steadfast. Though distrusting of strangers, when those of the sign of the Dog get to know someone they in many cases get quickly attached, and in some cases would risk their own life to protect them. Many of the sign of the dog are overly-possessive and clingy, as well. Effect: Those of the Sign of the Dog are capable of pushing through their limits, and giving a fierce fight, so long as a friend or someone they care about is in trouble. When in battle, if an ally falls below 20% HP, the user gains +10% to one defensive stat for the remainder of the battle. Use of this skill requires 2 staff members to review and approve the use of the skill. Your character and the character which is injured must have some sort of close connection. Cost: -3 Skill which I believe preceded whatever Bloodline has a similar effect, skill which has a different set of power, but should still be looked over in said case. Skill Name: Sign of the Turtle-Dragon Bloodline: N/A Description: A Turtle-Dragon is a creature which many thought to be myth. It is a beast the size of an island, and which in many cases has its true power hidden until it is the time to strike. In temperament, for the most part they could be considered benevolent, calm and driven to whatever their chore is. Like this legendary beast, those who are born under its sign are sometimes very hidden in their motives or true thoughts. They tend to be very calm and caring, as well as driven, but they can jump forward at any moment with a passion and fury like none-other. Intelligence hides within one who is born under this sign, but like the Turtle-Dragon, they hide it. Effect: -Because of the surprise of pulling an ace from your sleeve, the use of a trump card or showing your true strength (Whatever you would call it.) a person born under the sign of the Turtle-Dragon receives a +10% to hit and +10 damage with personal Ninjutsu or Taijutsu (as in jutsu which contain the user's name in the name, and/or somewhere in the description.) This is before modifiers. -Because of the time it takes to calculate your next move, and the need for patience before pulling out another trump card, on the turn following the use of a personal jutsu, the person born under the sign of the Turtle-Dragon is treated as if having -40 of their actual speed. Cost: -4 Skill Name: Sign of the Crocodile Bloodline: N/A Description: Those born under the sign of the Crocodile are known to be very aggressive, and to control their own capability in a way that makes their opponents misjudge their capabilities. The type to never put away a grudge, and sometimes take force a little more than it should be taken, those born under the sign of the Crocodile tend to strike hard and fast. Effect:+10 to damage when using taijutsu (Bonuses are applied with Modifiers.) Cost: -2 Skill Name: Sign of the Bear Bloodline: N/A Description: A bear is a creature which is known for many things. Some cultures simply fear the bear, others revere it. A creature which is attributed both to strength and endurance, wisdom and mysticism, the bears of popular folk lore are particular creatures, to say the least. Like the bears of folklore, those who are born of the sign of the Bear are particular creatures as well. Many things can be attributed to them, but insight and a ferocity which could not likely be countered when cornered are the things which stick out the most. Effect: A person born under the sign of the Bear gains -10 to Chakra or Stamina costs when using a technique of equal rank to them. (Chakra and Stamina costs are ten less than the listed price for a technique.) When using Hybrid Taijutsu/Ninjutsu, or Hybrid Genjutsu/Taijutsu, the cost is -5 for Chakra, and -5 for Stamina. Cost: -2 Skill Name: Sign of the Raven Bloodline: N/A Description: Ravens, beasts which are attributed to tricksters, to doom-seeing prophets, Ravens, creatures which are attributed to a sense of the metaphysical, attributed to an aloofness of being. Ravens, creatures which are not good or evil, creatures which are misunderstood. Effect: -A person born under the sign of the Raven gains -5 Chakra cost for jutsu. -A person born under the sign of the Raven has a particular forsight when it comes to enemy attacks which could bring about death, because of this, they gain a plus 5 to their dodge/block rolls when an attack would be fatal or incapacitate them. Cost: -3 Skill Name: Sign of the Tiger Bloodline: N/A Description: Tiger, king of the big cats. Tiger, warrior and hunter. Tiger, beast of knowledge and insight. Tiger, revered. These are just some of the phrases which attach themselves to the tiger, and things which affect those born under this feline lord's sign, as well. People born under the sign of the tiger are sometimes misunderstood, and sometimes understood with ease. They tend to be eccentric, and tend to seem aloof. They seem to have a capability to hit harder when the time comes to lay hands on someone, too. Effect: +10% to hit to hit rolls with Taijutsu type techniques before modifiers. Cost: -2 Skill Name: Sign of the Raccoon Bloodline: N/A Description: Raccoon, trickster and thief. A curious creature which is known to pilfer people's things when they're not watching, or attack in silence. Raccoons are the masters of guile in the animal kingdom, as far as Muukuro was concerned, and they are known to pull many tricks out of their sleeves. Intelligent, mischievous, and sometimes greedy, these are just some of the things people who are born under the sign of the Raccoon are attributed to. Effect: +1 turn length for status effects of a Personal Genjutsu which were made by this character (It actually has to reflect this in the description of the Genjutsu.) Cost: -2 Skill Name: Sign of the Arachnid Bloodline: N/A Description: Arachnids are creatures which tend to be left alone, and have no problem taking one's very life if they don't give them that peace. Renown for being trapsters of the animal world, and for being the type of creatures with something up their metaphorical sleeves, Arachnids are both important and unimportant, harmless and impossibly dangerous. It depends on the Arachnid, and the mood it has towards you. Like the Arachnids of the animal kingdom, those born under the sign of the Arachnid tend to be tricksters, trap-layers, and the type of person who always has another trick up their sleeves. Renown long-term strategists many times come from the this sign. Effect: Status effects of trap type techniques used by this user last one turn longer. Cost: -2 [Notes: -It's tentative that only those of Kirigakuran descent can have these signs. If you'd like an explanation as to "Why in the world would something not work the same way just because of being from a different place?" I cite the fact that many other skills have no logical explanation for someone to hold a monopoly over things. There is also the whole "Astrological alignment" thing which means if you were not born at a certain time in a certain place, you still might not be affected. -I'm running obtaining these skills in a way many wouldn't. Anyone who wants a skill from the "Pantheon of the Wave" has to ask me for permission, and have enough skill points to pay the highest cost for the possible skills. They tell me the birthday of their character, and I tell them which sign they have. If this thing is received well, I might make one for other countries, or make a modified version one to accommodate signs for animals I've not yet added, or purposely ignored, but people would like to see. ] Edited February 24, 2007 by Warr
Rhapsody Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Fox - Change 'self-made' to 'made by this character.' Note that this fact should be reflected in the description. 'Bob made this technique to...' Turtle-Dragon - Bonuses are applied with modifiers. Crocodile - See above. Bear - The enraged thing is more of a jutsu. Raven - Applied with modifiers... Tiger - See above. Raccoon - See fox.
Nappers Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Rabbit; Denied. Fox; - Snake; State whether it is 'effects' or 'Status effects' that last longer. Mosquito; Denied unless, doesn't efffect opponents of higher rank and.. something else that escapes me right now. Cat; Denied. Too many stacked effects for the cost. Dog; Denied. We have a bloodline similar to this Turtle-Dragon; Denied. We have specialities and other effects with this. Crocodile; -3 Bear; - Raven; Denied. We have other and seperate skills for this, this is skill cheapening. Tiger; same effect as one of your other signs? Raccoon; -2 Arachnid; State whether it is 'effects' or 'Status effects' that last longer.
Warr Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) Okay, I'll go about fixing them and otherwise changing them then.~ Attempted to make them all more acceptable. Also, clarified a few things, and linked something near dog which may or may not have preceded the bloodline you mention. Edited February 19, 2007 by Warr
Cho Hakkai Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Skill Name: Sign of the RabbitBloodline: N/A Description: Like the Rabbit itself, those who have are born in the time of the Rabbit are very agile and remarkably quick and ready to flee from battle. Effect: For any character born under the sign of the Rabbit, the Maximum to-hit chance is now 95%. The minimum chance to hit this character is now 10% Cost: -3 (Maybe -4) This would seem fine at -3. If any moderator or Admin wishes to argue this, I have a line of skill that do more than this that cost the same. A simple 5% increase of maximum to hit rate is nothing compare to several other things I have seen approved. Skill Name: Sign of the Fox Bloodline: N/A Description: Like the Fox of legend, people who are born during the time of the sign of the fox are very quick of thought. Effect: People who are born under the sign of the fox are quick of thought and good tricksters. Because of this, they are able to purchase genjutsu or trap type techniques which were made by this character (It actually has to reflect this in the description)for 2 JP less than they would normally cost. Cost lowering can not make jutsu less than one JP. Cost: -2 So its basically -2 jp to a minumum of 1 for personal genjustu and trap justu? I'd say maybe about -3 or something along those lines. Also state which type of trap justu and which type of justu it goes with (IE. Ninjustu trap, genjustu trap, taijustu trap and blah blah blah.) Skill Name: Sign of the Snake Bloodline: N/A Description: Snakes are creatures which are complex, clever, and sometimes selfish. Effect: Effects of Poisons or Poison Type techniques used by this user last one turn longer. Cost: -2 (Maybe -3) Yea, I agree with nappers. State "status effects," "stat effects," or some other type of effect. For them all I suppose a -3 would be fine. Skill Name: Sign of the Mosquito Bloodline: N/A Description: Mosquitoes. Effect: If a person born under the sign of the Mosquito bites their opponent, there is a 30% chance of causing 'Sickened' for one turn. This can happen only once per battle on each opponent. Does not affect shinobi of higher rank. Cost: -2 (Possibly -3) This seems fine at I think, -2. Skill Name: Sign of the Cat Bloodline: N/A Description: Flighty, whimsical, flirtatious. Effect: People born under the sign of the cat are adept at dodging, and gain a bonus of +10% to dodge & block rolls. Like cats, people born under the sign of the cat are at times are agile and capable of escaping major harm at many times. Cost: -4 In your effects, you really don't have to describe like what makes te skill the skill, just the effects are fine. So is this +10% and all dodge rolls and +10 to block roll? I dunno about it, but I'd say keep it at 4. Please reword it though because your wording is VERY bad and can be abused in the end. Skill Name: Sign of the Dog Bloodline: N/A Description: Like Dogs, those who are born under the sign of the Dog are intensely loyal and steadfast. If a friendly PC falls below 20% of their total HP in the prescience of someone of the sign of the dog, the player of the sign of the dog character picks one defensive stat, and adds a bonus of +10% to said stat. Activation of this ability needs staff approval, always. This is because the connection with said character must be approved as an actual connection to the character's emotional spectrum, not just some trigger used for occasion. Cost: (Maybe -3) Skill which I believe preceded whatever Bloodline has a similar effect, skill which has a different set of power, but should still be looked over in said case. Again, your wording is bad. Say something like "When in battle, if an ally falls below 20% of their HP, the user gains +10% to a single defencive stat for the remainder of the battle. 2 staff members must approve and say that use of this skill is ok. Your character and the character that is injured must have some sort of close connection." And also, no need for describing in effect. Effect: +10% to hit with personal Ninjutsu. (Bonuses are applied with Modifiers.) Cost: -4 "Personal" make sure that the Character's name is in the justu description and i'd say a -2. also state that its before modifiers. Skill Name: Sign of the Crocodile Bloodline: N/A Description: Those born under the sign of the Crocodile are known to be very aggressive, and to control their own capability in a way that makes their opponents misjudge their capabilities. The type to never put away a grudge, and sometimes take force a little more than it should be taken, those born under the sign of the Crocodile tend to strike hard and fast. Effect: +10 to damage with taijutsu (Bonuses are applied with Modifiers.) Cost: -3 +10 damage or +10% to hit? Either way, if its the first one, -1. If its the second one, -2. Also, apply before mods. Skill Name: Sign of the Bear Bloodline: N/A Description: A bear is a creature which is known for many things. (Chakra and Stamina costs are ten less than the listed price for a technique.) Cost: -3 State if you use a combo technique of ninjustu and taijustu, its -5 to each of them. this seems fine at -2, but i am going for a -1 really. Skill Name: Sign of the Raven Bloodline: N/A Description: Ravens, beasts which are attributed to tricksters, to doom-seeing prophets, Ravens, creatures which are attributed to a sense of the metaphysical, attributed to an aloofness of being. Ravens, creatures which are not good or evil, creatures which are misunderstood. Effect: +5% to hit with Genjutsu Cost: -3 Before mods, -2. Skill Name: Sign of the Tiger Bloodline: N/A Description: Tiger, king of the big cats. Effect: +10% to hit to hit rolls with Taijutsu type techniques. Cost: -3 ? Isn't this the same as the one i mentioned before? Oh well, -2 seems sufficent. Before mods. Skill Name: Sign of the Raccoon Bloodline: N/A Description: Raccoon, trickster and thief. Effect: +1 turn length for effects of a Genjutsu which were made by this character (It actually has to reflect this in the description. Cost: -2 Which kind of effects? Status, stats, what? Is this only apply for personal genjustu? Please be more specific in your wording. Skill Name: Sign of the Arachnid Bloodline: N/A Description: Arachnids are creatures which tend to be left alone, and have no problem taking one's very life if they don't give them that peace. Effect: Effects of trap type techniques used by this user last one turn longer. Cost: -2 One turn longer, I'd say about -2 shoudl be fine. Again, whether its status effects or stat effects or all effects, please do the wording. And my apology to nappers if anything I said contridicts what you said, but lately the approval standerds have been a bit to high for certain members and lower for others. I am saying that lately the approval system isn't fair and is a bit too strict.
Nappers Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 And my apology to nappers if anything I said contridicts what you said, but lately the approval standerds have been a bit to high for certain members and lower for others. I am saying that lately the approval system isn't fair and is a bit too strict. They're strict for a reason. We don't want crap. Standards aren't high for some- because what's been made is fine, appearingly high for others for reasons too. There's no such thing as 'too strict.' Warr. Get back to me when you've made improvements- and that they're different from what I last saw when reviewed.
Warr Posted February 19, 2007 Author Posted February 19, 2007 On second thought, after discussing the whole idea a bit more with an associate, and working on kinks, I've decided I'd add hindrances to skills which had problems previously, as well as working at fixing them.
Warr Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 -roundhouse throw- Yes, throw, not kick. When/if someone replies to this, please delete my bumping post.
