Name: Jigen-Ryu, Thousand Agonies of Hell.

Type: Kenjutsu, weapon requirement, Personal

Rank: Nise (Chunin level equivalent)

Cost: 31 Stamina per strike, max 3 hits.

Damage: 30 damage per hit.

Effects: Deals 10 bleed per hit for two turns. Multi-attack jutsu.

Description: Using speed, skill, and sheer aggression, the samurai attempts to inflict as much pain upon their target as possible in the shortest amount of time. While to others it looks like a flailing madman, those who are perceptive enough realize that each strike aims for major exposed arteries and for the largest number of surface veins and torso muscles in the body possible. Must be using a blade of some sort.

Damage: 30 damage and 10 bleed damage for two turns per hit.

-Confused on the Cost, unless you Samurai techniques use a different cost ratio. If so, please link the applicable skill:

  • Chuunin "Taijutsu" 30 Damage x3 Hits = 90 DP
    10 Bleed Damage x 2 Turns x 3 Hits - Max 60 Bleed Damage = 32 DP [40 DP for 60 Damage x 0.8]
    Total: 122 DP

-Chuunin Level Techniques with a DP cost of 91-120 are 4 Points, not 5, though I'm not sure what your DP cost should be so fix that first. Also, that skill is in the Dead Skills forum. :blink:

Chunin Taijutsu use a 2:3 cost ratio, so 90 damage points would have a cost of 60 stamina. However, I didn't know that that also applied to the bleed damage. I had the bleed damage costing me 48 stamina, for a total of 108 stamina. And 150 DP in total it says in the jutsu rules must be a cost 5 for JP for Chunin. Removed the Dead skill and just made it personal.

Bleeding/Burning/Poison: User loses x HP every turn (x is determined in the technique that inflicts bleeding). Bleeding/Burning/Poison damage begins to take place on the turn after the attack hits. So if a technique hits an opponent for 20 bleed damage for two turns, the first turn they are hit, the second turn they take the damage and the third turn they take the damage again. The total bleed damage in a single technique cannot break the damage cap for that technique when added together with the regular damage that it deals.

Max Duration: 3 turns

DP: 0.8x/turn (x = The normal DP (cost) of the damage that it is being applied to.)

To determine bleed cost, you first get how much DP it would cost to do regular damage, and then you multiply it by 0.8. And DP is just a "special" (and confusing, IMO) way of saying "Cost". If you technique Cost 108 Stamina to use, that means it's DP value is 108; there is a difference between "amount of damage" and "damage points".

It says in the rules that it costs 2 stamina for every 3 damage. There's 150 points of damage being done, so it'd cost 100 stamina is what that means, no? I thought it was slightly different for effects, but if you're saying it's not, then the cost should be 100 stamina then, right? 60 burn damage multiplied by 0.8 = 48. That's before the 2:3 ratio. My understanding is this ratio didn't apply to jutsu effects, only to straight damage. Hence why 90 damage over three hits for the rest of the jutsu would cost 60 stamina. 60 + 48 = 108

So 108 DP = 150 damage with this jutsu, correct? Or do I apply that 2:3 ratio to the effect as well? In which case it costs 92 stamina in total for this jutsu. 92 DP = 150 hp damage.

Most effects are just straight cost and do not apply ratios. However, as stated in the bold portion quoted above in Rhap Sodos' post, bleed damage's cost is derived from the DP of the damage. So this would cost 92 because bleed damage takes the damage you want to do and deals it for .8 the cost (since it is delayed damage).
