cntrstrk14 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Hinshi | Death's Approach | 瀕死Weapon Type: KatanaSize: MediumLevel: 20Attributes: Razor Edge, Hidden, Indestructible, Parry [Rank 2], Defend [Rank 2], UniqueSpecial Abilities: Ω Death's PowerThe entity that dwells within Hinshi that contains the hate of Oketsu cries for revenge whenever the blood of its wielder is spilled. Its own force awakens in response to enemy attacks, the black chakra contained within it tainting that of the user and multiplying his strength for a short time. In those moments it takes a great strength of will to keep the user from giving into the bloodlust of the sword.Effect: Does additional damage equal to the amount of Health lost from enemy attacks since the previous turn. Ω Death's CurseThe demon blade Hinshi is a king among swords, unfit to even be set upon by lesser weapons. The terrible force of death itself besieges lesser armaments at the incredulity of their presence.Effect: Declared during an attack that involves Hinshi. Upon a successful hit, the targeted opponent must roll 1d666. If the result is odd, target weapon that opponent controls is inflicted with 'Destroy Weapon'. May only trigger a roll once per battle per opponent. Description: The cursed blade of Oketsu, heir of the Akatsuki organization and tyrant of Iwagakure no Sato. Hinshi is said to be a blade forged from the very hate in Oketsu's heart, a blade that bears the blackness of its original owner's soul. The sword measures 3 1/2 feet in length and is made of a finely tempered black steel folded over several times. The edge of the blade catches light with its silver edge, flashing in the darkness despite it's main body staying in shadow. The sheath which carries it is a deep and worn black wood, battered over years from outside forces and the bloodlust it is forced to contain. Along the upper edge, near the hilt, are two very faint kanji carved in small white script. They say "Meiki" and "Akasabure Genome" or "Remember Akasabure Genome".Cost: $2,100 Ryo
cntrstrk14 Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 Design Notes - Re-submitting this weapon as per the updated Special Ability rules. - Previous version may be found here. Because 2006. - This weapon has never been priced before, so let's give it one now. $2,500 is a complete shot in the dark. It's a GM reward, but all items should have prices on them.
Cellar Door Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Razor Edge: 250Hidden: 50Indestructible: 50Unique: 50Parry: 400Defend: 400Death's Power needs to either have a cap regarding the maximum damage of the attack it's being used in conjunction with. (I like this option more because it means that Hinshi becomes a good example of a weapon that is very strong in conjunction with Weapon Jutsu, it plays well with those new rules.) or, it needs to say that it only counts in regard to life lost from enemy attacks. (Because theoretically, you could 1700 damage to yourself, go neg, Second Wind, Pop-up, Pop 'My Way' or 'Stroke of Genius' and then swing with an attack that deals +all of your health, and it would have some ridiculous chance to hit or be un-evade-able.Cost: When that's all settled, I think 500-600 is a good number for one of its SA powers.Death's Curse is fine, and flavorful and cool. Approved there.Cost: 300Final Cost: 2000-2100
cntrstrk14 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Added the 'enemy attack' portion to the effect and update the cost!
Hardcore Skittlez Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) Just as a point of clarity, how does Death's Power interact with healing? If you take 200 damage and are healed for 100, does it still deal 200 damage? I also think that Death's Power needs an activation cost of some kind. In my mind, it's very reminiscent of the Affliction abilities-- so maybe... 20 Chakra? I think a Health Cost could be a neat and flavor way to tackle that one. Also definitely need to be clear that it does not add that bonus damage to every strike made with it. Edited October 17, 2015 by Hardcore Skittlez
cntrstrk14 Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 The damage counted is only for enemy attacks, and it only counts the actual life lost. If you are healed it is not taken into consideration for Hinshi, but also if you have a barrier, shield, or some other kind of damage reduction it does not boost Hinshi since you have to actually lose the life. I'm not a huge fan of the Chakra cost. If anything it should probably be a Stamina cost. Though I like the theme of a health cost, I would be worried that it might confused a player since they would expect it to work with the ability when it does not. However, I'm going to kindly push back on an activation cost since I don't think it will actually make a difference and muddles the ability. As for the damage, I can't think of a way to be more clear since all damage for weapon strikes is divided.
Hardcore Skittlez Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 A large part of me wants to insist upon an activation ability, but that's in part due to a certain dislike I have about the ability in general. However, I cannot place what is making me actually dislike the ability, so I think it may simply be that I just don't like it. That being said, I'm not going to not approve it because I dislike it without mechanical reason. Approved, I suppose.
Pwnzie Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Now that that's been settled, Ill give this a third and move! PWNT
