Kōkai | 後悔 | Regret
Weapon Type: Short Dao | Shortsword
Weapon Size: Medium
Weapon Level: 10
Special Attributes:

Married Blades
Effect: This ability may be activated in the Setup Phase and may only be activated if Manzoku has been destroyed during this combat. Reduce the level of Kōkai and Manzoku by 50% of their current value for the remaining duration of combat; Manzoku is then equipped and treated as if it were not ‘destroyed’. If this effect would cause Kōkai’s level to fall below 25, it may not be activated.
Cost: 450 両

Balance of Regret
Effect: Whenever a character is dealt damage from a strike with this weapon, increase their Response Phase Jutsu Fail Chance for all Response Phase Jutsu used against Kōkai by 1%. This effect may stack cumulatively to a maximum of 30% and is removed at the end of combat.
Cost: 700 両

Attributes: +20 Accuracy [White Chakra Release] | Unique
Description: Forged by the now prolific business mogul Aragane Tsutomu as his final project before casting aside Blacksmithing, Kōkai is a masterpiece of a blade. It takes the form of a short but thick Dao, possessing only one edged side that curves slightly backward; the blade’s coloration is distinctively black, contrasted only by the white shine of a yang configuration splitting its center. Though the blade has no proper guard, its thickness is enough to turn away most attacks before they would reach its wielder’s hands. Kōkai was named as a symbol to regret Tsutomu casting off his regrets and vowing only to move forward in life; it was forged as part of a pair of married blades alongside the contrasting Manzoku. As a piece of the married blades, Kōkai may sacrifice some of its own strength to allow Manzoku to continue fighting even after it has been destroyed.
Cost: 1530

Manzoku | 満足 | Satisfaction
Weapon Type: Short Dao | Shortsword
Weapon Size: Medium
Weapon Level: 10

Cost: 450 両

Balance of Satisfaction
Effect: Whenever a character fails a Response Phase technique used against an attack made utilizing Manzoku, that attack deals critical damage.
Cost: 500 両

Attributes: Unique
Description: Another of the final blades forged by Aragane Tsutomu, Manzoku is named to symbolize his casting off of satisfaction. It was the belief of Tsutomu that without cumbersome satisfaction, he could rise to heights unseen by his fellow clansmen. Manzoku is the contrasting blade married to Kōkai, possessing a pearly white hue divided by a lance of black down its center, stemming from a yin symbol. Similarly to Kōkai, Manzoku possesses no guard and is forged with such a thickness that it typically turns away any blades that would target the wielder’s hands. As a piece of the married blades, Manzoku may sacrifice some of its own strength to allow Kōkai to continue fighting even after it has been destroyed.
Cost: 1330 両

Designer's Notes

Okay! First thing's first, I'm stating here that Kōkai is intended to be discounted with the White Chakra Release skill that the Hatake get- that has not effected the cost at all here, but will reduce the cost by about 330 when it is actually purchased. Just a note here for future reference!

Married Blades -- These are pretty straight forward. Under normal circumstances, you can only trigger this twice per battle @ weapon level 100. Yes, it is intentional that you can kind of wiggle around it by using jutsu to increase weapon levels temporarily, but I figured that this was okay because you were burning a main phase & a decent chunk of chakra for the sole purpose of bringing back your weapon.

Balance of Regret -- This seems really strong at a glance, but it's pretty easy to wiggle around based on dodging & clever use of response phase jutsu. As an important note, this negative persists throughout the entirety of combat- it does not go away when you successfully RPJ vs Kōkai!

Balance of Satisfaction -- This one isn't all that scary. It's a "decent" effect on its own, and really shines when paired with Balance of Regret. The counterplay to this is to just not RPJ vs Manzoku!
