A white headband holds her long braided hair back while more white bandage covers most of her face, only revealing her bright blue eyes. A pair of camouflage oriented pants that she tailors to the specific mission environment.

-Physical Description: Nijiko is more lithe with defined and lean muscles. Her dark skin often makes her stand out in certain situation, as well as a tattoo on her left shoulder.

Personality:

 Nijiko is polite and reserved when it comes to social situations. She isn't shy, however, she dislikes large gatherings of people. While she always has a kind word to say, her mind races with judgement upon all she passes. In combat, her polite demeanor vanishes. She will do whatever it takes to accomplish her mission and at times ends up butting heads with teammates and allies on her habit working alone.

History:

As a child, Nijiko was like most other children. Laughing, playing and running around with others close to her in age. Her best friend when she was young was a fellow Hanabi. The two of them were inseparable and often spent the days running through the city pretending to be ninjas. Nijiko and her friend usually wound up running away from some angry adult by the end of the day, but together, nothing scared them.
 
Until the NCIA swept through the world. Nijiko's childhood friend moved to Metropolis with his mother to avoid it while Nijiko was left in Iwagakure. Her family made sure she was as well taken care of as possible, but life was rough. Every day was one spent in fear of what may happen next and every day, she grew more withdrawn from the world. When it was possible, she would run from the city and make her way up to the mountains over looking her village. Gazing upon the beautiful sight of her home, even if it was currently occupied by a tyrannical presence, she felt at home. Only here, when she was alone, would she cry.
 
When finally the NCIA had been forced out of Iwa and the ninja academy re-opened, Nijiko had drastically changed from the child that used to run through the streets. When her childhood friend returned from metropolis, he was different as well. Together they enrolled in the Academy.
 
Except, Nijiko's friend graduated much earlier than the rest of them. He was promoted to gennin while Nijiko still struggled to command a basic Transformation technique. She burned with pride, but loneliness crept in on her and a dark sensation sparked within her. Jealousy. She worked harder than she had ever thought possible and finally managed to graduate from the academy as a gennin. Only to find that she was once again, several steps behind her friend.
 
Nijiko refused to quit. No matter what she did, it seemed that she would be forever on a slower track than the boy she grew up with. He didn't even acknowledge her existence any more. They had become worse than strangers. When within the Hanabi estates, the two passed each other, she could feel his eyes pass over her as if she meant nothing. It destroyed her from the inside out.
 
Frequently, she would escape the bustle of the town to seek solace in the mountains overlooking her home. It was here when she made a revelation. She would no longer be bound to the shadows cast by her friend. Letting anyone get too close would only slow her down. So she decided to keep everyone at an arms' length and focus on being the best she could possibly be.
 
It was during the International Chuunin Exams, held in Metropolis, that she finally found a way to prove herself to her village. As the commotion of the Yokai eruption caused chaos and mayhem in the streets, Nijiko was able to safely navigate dozens of civilians out of the stadium. With her first group of civilians successfully evacuated from danger, Nijiko went back to find more. 
 
Instead, she found herself face to face with a beast she could hardly describe. It almost seemed to be a giant eyeball with large leathery wings that beat against the air keeping it aloft. Sinister drooling fangs coated in fresh blood snarled at her with a smile of malicious delight. The yokai didn't even stand a chance. While Nijiko was by no means a prodigy, she spent countless hours honing her abilities and was progressing nicely with the Firework techniques her clan was known for. 
 
Ultimately, Nijiko was the victor, but it came at a price. The monster had managed to nick her with it's razor sharp fangs. The wound itself was minor, but it seemed that the beast was venomous. With her heart racing and spreading the venom through her body, Nijiko knew she needed medical attention. As she turned to leave, a small cry caught her attention. A little boy, covered in dust, mud and tears crawled out from nearby debris. 
 
Her head began to spin, but she put every ounce of strength she had into hefting the boy onto her back and limping out of the arena area once more. Everything after that is simply a blur in her mind. She woke up, several months later, in a hospital bed. She was debriefed and relieved the learn that the boy she found was safe, but she once again felt set back. Her friend, the legend of the Hanabi, was easily a jounin by that point, or so she thought.
 
After finally being released from the hospital a day later, she set out to learn what became of her friend. And she ended up at his gravestone. Her childhood friend, her silent rival, Hanabi Hinoko was dead. Yet, she stood, alive, albeit weak, triumphing over the one person who seemed to always be better at everything.
 
It was a bitter moment. She had for so long resented him, without realizing that his existence pushed her to grow further than she would have without him. And she never got the chance to say Thank You. It burned her that she had felt so angry towards Hinoko, or rather that she could never apologize to him. Instead, she vowed silently, standing before his grave to be the Hanabi he could never be. That even if he was gone, she would strive with every ounce of strength she had to be better than him.
 
When she had fully recovered, Nijiko was presented with a scroll that informed her of the clearance to participate in missions once again, packaged neatly with a chuunin vest and an official notice of her promotion. It seemed unwarranted, she had been in a coma for months and only did what she had to do, but she knew this was the first step at finally becoming better than Hinoko.
 
It was a sign that it wasn't time for her to give in yet and that the real challenge was just about to begin. Edited by PandaMattMatt

Description: The Hanabi have long ago discovered the unique and mysterious chakra within themselves. Even as children, it is common to see colorful spark flying from the body of a Hanabi.
Effect: When this skill is purchased at character creation, the skill 'Combinatorial; Firework' may be taken in place of their Free Village Element Skill. When purchasing the skill ‘Ninjutsu Mastery; Firework’, characters with this skill may purchase 2 ranks for 1 Skill Point.

Firework Progression Mastery | 花火進行習得 | Hanabi Shinkō Shūtoku
Description: Those who are born with the volatile chakra of the Colorful Soul often have a hard time learning to control it. As a natural failsafe, their bodies let off chakra that could potentially cause harm when emotions become overly intense. However, once this is overcome, the Colorful Soul becomes a powerful aid in battle.
Restriction: Ranks must be purchased in order.

Effect: While their health is below 50%, the user must roll 1d20 each turn during their Setup Phase. This is known as a Control Roll. If the result is 5 or less, the user loses 5% of their total chakra. For every 10% below 50% health, the user subtracts two (2) from their roll.

Stasis Flow Rank 1

 

Description: The flow of chakra and stamina within the body has been the center of deep philosophic and meditative debate for ages. It is believed that if a person is able to harmonize the flow of chakra and stamina within their body that they can in effect have them flow perfectly throughout the body. Through years of on and off study, researchers were able to apply scientific reasoning to this theory. They found that if the pressure within the body between the stamina and chakra could be equalized, that the two could flow within the body more effectively and even, through training, use each other's traffic lines throughout the body. They proved this by showing that the 'pressure' (This word is used for lack of a better term. It refers to the energy per cubic inch based on the potential energy of the substance. All stamina and chakra within a body has a set amount of potential energy that they contain at any point) of each could be used interchangeably and at a certain point it becomes hard to tell the two apart. Because of such, the regenerative properties of each substance that was traditionally thought to be separate can actually be considered one in the same, but only when the pressure is the same from each.
Effect: The character's Chakra and Stamina regeneration are replaced with the following. User's Chakra and Stamina maximums must be the exact same or this skill has no effect.

Effect: When adding the [Firework] tag to thrown Small Weapons with the "Explosive Color" bloodline skill, the user may add their Ninjutsu modifier to the attack at a rate of 40:5.
Description: Within the Hanabi, there are those who prefer graceful offensives that could almost be considered art. Others who charge right through without thinking, destroying every obstacle with a crushing explosion. Of course, there are some who combine the best of both worlds and make their tools of death into strikingly beautiful objects of destruction. Classy mofos.

Talentless

 

Description: You are slow at learning techniques, the concepts are harder for you to understand. But quality over quantity, right?
Effect: You only get jutsu points on even levels.
Cost: +4 sp



Possessive

 

Effect: Whenever an item in this character's possession is destroyed by an opponent, this character is afflicted with three (3) turns of 'Taunted' as if caused by the opponent who destroyed this character's item. Additionally, when this character attempts to use a consumable item, they must roll a D20. On a roll of '1', that item is not used and this character sacrifices the phase they were attempting to use that consumable in.
Description: This character is the sort of individual that has a compulsive need to accumulate as much wealth as physically possible, and is often very possessive of their friends and objects. This compulsion- or even obsession often leads this individual to become greatly agitated whenever an object in their possession is damaged or broken.

The Path of the Mesmer

Many people walk this earth not content with living in reality— Mesmers prefer to create their own realities. A Mesmer is a person who works in the arts of persuasion, illusion, and trickery. They will use physical and non physical means to get their way, often through the aid of Genjutsu. Able to talk circles around even the most cunning of politicians, a skilled Mesmer could talk a brick mason into buying his own bricks. These people always have a plan, even if it is not obvious to those around them. Cunning and mysterious define a Mesmer, and they are often found rising to the top of organizations one way or another.
Effect: For every 100 points in Concentration, this character gains an additional +1% to hit with Genjutsu based attacks.

Persuasive Master: (Choose Two)
- Smooth Talker: May gain 2 ranks of 'Merchant' for 1 skill point.
- Focused Mind: Gain 3 ranks of 'Genjutsu Shaper' for free.

RP Guide:
- Character should have a proficiency in Genjutsu at least to some degree. They also will often make use of persuasion to achieve the goals they assert for themselves. Cunning and mysterious, the true goals of a mesmer are often just out of reach of those around them.

The Path of the Mentalist

Description: While some ninja work on honing their body to be the ultimate weapon, others focus on the mind. Mentalists are those who have learned every specific facet of the human mind they can possibly comprehend. They are able to manipulate the firing synapses of the brain to alter the flow in opponents and allies. Pull information from the minds of even the most stubborn of foes. They have broken so many mental barriers that their own seem nearly impervious. There are even some who have discovered means by which they may pull information from an unwitting or unwilling mind. By learning and mastering as much as humanly possible about the human brain and it’s connections throughout the body, Mentalists are a dangerous force to be reckoned with.
Effect: User now applies 25% of their Genjutsu stat modifier on Genjutsu that adjust the stats of themselves or allies.

Survival Skills: (Choose Two)
- Sound Mind: User now applies 100% of their Genjutsu Stat modifier on Genjutsu that adjust the stats of themselves or Allies. In addition, the character's Genjutsu stat may no longer modify Ghost Damage.
- Cognitive Dissonance: May take 2 ranks of Genjutsu Creator for -1sp.

RP Guide:
- Mentalists are masters of the art of Genjutsu. They should be very familiar with the connections in the brain and how those connections affect everything else. They can be masters of getting people to spill information, even if it’s against the person’s will. They have boundless imaginations and machinations that seem to match the grandiose illusions that they create.
Requirements:
- Chuunin. Must have Path of the Mesmer.

Genjutsu Shaper | Rank 3

Description: The human mind is such a soft, soft thing. So easy to manipulate with the right pressure.
Effect: For every rank in this skill, status effects the user inflicts with Genjutsu on opponents have a chance to last one post longer based on the opponent's dodge roll. This will not allow you to break the maximum post duration of any status effect.
Ranks: 3; On a dodge roll of a 1-60, status effects last one turn longer.

Genjutsu Creator | Rank 6

Description: "When the world is not what you wish of it- change it". When you were told this as a young child you may have taken it a bit too literally.
Effect: Genjutsu reduces the stats of opponents by 5 more points per ninja rank of the technique (per skill rank). If the Genjutsu reduces multiple stats then the user must choose how to apply the bonus, but only in intervals of 5. Does not apply to tank stat damage.
Ex: Genin techniques gain +5 reduction, Chuunin techniques gain +10 reduction, etc.

• Henge No Jutsu | Transformation Technique | 変化の術 I

 

 

Type: Ninjutsu [Void]

Effect: During any situation in which a character with this technique would need to calculate their ‘Visibility Score’, they may use this technique to reduce their ‘Visibility Score’ by -10%. ‘Visibility Score’ reduction caused by this technique may be ignored by any character with heightened senses (i.e; Byakugan, Path of the Sensor, Inuzuka Smell Tracker, etc).
Description: The Transformation Technique is a time-honored staple of nearly every shinobi academy the world over. Its concept and execution are both extremely basic, making it a perfect training technique for young students. By molding chakra around their body, the user of the Transformation Jutsu is able to temporarily take on the physical characteristics of another person. Though the Henge no Jutsu rarely offers a perfect disguise, clever ninja have been using it for hundreds of years to confound their foes.

• Bunshin No Jutsu | Clone Technique | 分身の術 I

 

Type: Ninjutsu [Void]
Rank: Academy Student
Cost: 5x Chakra
Effect: This technique may be used in the Setup Phase or Main Phase. When determining the cost of this technique ‘x’ is considered to be the number of ‘Clones’ created by the user and may never be greater than 2. ‘Clones’ have 1 Health and 1% of the user’s other statistics. ‘Clones’ are not physical, and may not use items, techniques or attack during their turn. The user of this technique gains +20 Evasion or +20 Accuracy for every ‘Clone’ on the battlefield. The effects of 'Clones' may be ignored by any character with heightened senses (i.e; Byakugan, Path of the Sensor, Inuzuka Smell Tracker, etc). This technique may be used in the Setup Phase 1 time per battle.
Description: A technique that most students are required to be proficient in before they can graduate from the academy, the Bunshin no Jutsu is the most basic of the myriad of clone techniques that exist in the world. By properly molding their chakra, the user is capable of creating near perfect replicas of themselves. Unlike most bunshinjutsu, the basic clone technique does not produce physical clones but creates something more akin to a projected image, which is a real image that has no form. The Clone Technique is considered an E-Ranked jutsu, and is not very powerful, but with practice and ingenuity many shinobi have come to use it in masterful ways. Most often stalling by hiding out among their clones, or setting themselves up for a strong offensive.

• Kawarimi No Jutsu | Body Replacement Technique | 変わり身の術 I

 

Type: Ninjutsu [Void]
Rank: Academy Student

Effect: This technique may be performed as a Free Action in the Response Phase following a failed dodge roll. When determining the cost of this technique ‘x’ is equivalent to the cost of 1 basic attack or small weapon attack that the user failed to dodge. The damage and effects of that basic attack or small weapon attack are negated. The user may take no action in the Setup Phase or Main Phase on the turn this technique is used. This technique has a 5% chance to fail. This technique may be performed 1 time per battle.
Description: A life-saving technique for most young shinobi, the Body Replacement Jutsu has been a staple in academy learning for many years. By utilizing their ability to manipulate chakra, with quick movement, a skillful shinobi is capable of switching their position with another object to evade damage. By creating a simple optical illusion, the user of the Kawarimi no Jutsu can make it appear as though they were damaged or even killed by the opponent’s attack. Some ninja become extremely adept in the usage of this technique, and have even been known to swap places with hazardous materials to trap their enemies.

However, it is used less in real world situations because of it’s lack of subtlety.

Effect: User gains +50 Evasion. This technique is used in the Response Phase as a Free Action. This technique must be referenced in the dodge roll it is modifying. This technique may be used 2 times per battle and has a 5% chance to fail.
Description: An unsophisticated illusion cast at the last second. The Shinobi creates the image of a few other copies of themselves to trip up attackers. This gives them a small window of opportunity to sneak out of harm's way.

Effect: User gains +100 Accuracy for 1 Turn. This jutsu consumes 1 Set Up Phase Action and 2 Main Phase Actions. This jutsu is not considered "activated" until the end of the 2nd Main Phase Action. Combine the full modifiers from both Main Phase Actions when determining modifiers. The Main Phase Actions spent on this technique must be consecutive. If for any reason this jutsu cannot be completed in consecutive Main Phase Actions, this jutsu is canceled and its resources spent are not refunded.
Description: Forming the seals to gather and charge chakra, the shinobi bides their time. When finally enough energy has been gathered and stored, the offense is launched. The first wave of this attack comes in the form of an illusion that changes the sky to a deep violet color full of burning stars. Each churning and rocketing towards the opponent. In the midst of the illusion, the shinobi using this technique jumps high into the sky, enveloped in a thick multi-chromatic, cloak of chakra. The opponent only sees another falling star, which suddenly begins crashing down upon them, revealed at the last second to be the Hanabi. Feet first, the Hanabi rotates rapidly and crashes into the opponent with an earth trembling impact.
