Matthias Drake Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 (edited) This skill is no longer legal, due to rule changes concerning immunity to elemental attacks. Therefore, I am remaking it. Name: Starheart (x)Description: They have been called the lovers of flame, of the stars, and perhaps this is closer to the truth than anyone knows. - This character, having always had an innate affinity for flames, has finally taken this connection to the highest level: they have made a pact with the essence of fire itself, which is as follows. This character may choose which things any given fire will and will not burn. For example, if they come upon a forest fire, they could say "Do not harm the trees" and the fire would, obediently, leave the trees alone. Or they could walk on hot coals, saying only "Do not burn me" and they would be fine. Fire used offensively is something of an exception: Due to the hostile intent behind a fire attack, the Starheart is not entirely immune to these attacks, and must use some other means to avoid harm completely. - When speaking to fire, the user does not use their native tongue, but rather the Ignan language of fire, which sounds (for good reason) like flickering flames. Any Starheart can speak this language as easily as any they know. - But this is of course a pact, which means it goes two ways. From the moment it is made on, fires of all sorts obey the user's commands, and provide for good company (after all, they can converse in the tongue of flames). - However, this is a pact, and that means that the Starheart also owes something. This is in the form of a trade: The user's heart is gone, and instead goes to live inside the core of a star. In return, the star's heart takes the place of the user's, and burns there for as long as the Starheart lives - warming, but not harming him or her, a comfort through the cold. This fire will not harm the Starheart, or even warm them unless they wish it, but it is always there, where once their own heart was, and when the Starheart dies, the pact ends. What happens thereafter is not always the same, and depends on the nature of the star and the human who made the pact, and what other relationship they had. - Minor side effects include the impression, out of the corner of your eye, that the Starheart is on fire; small flames running over the Starheart's body without burning anything, with or without conscious intent (this is sometimes extended to minor party tricks like lighting cigarettes with a fingertip, and so on); reduced fertility; a craving for spicy foods; increased body temperature; the ability to look directly at the sun without blinking, watery eyes, or retinal damage; an intense dislike for cold; misty breath even in above-freezing temperatures; an instinctive awareness of exactly where in the sky the Starheart's patron star is; and the tendency to stare up at said patron star for hours. Effect: The user gains 25% reduction to fire damage, cumulative with all other sources of such damage reduction, but this stacking reduction to fire damage can never exceed 75%. The user is immune to mundane fire, such as campfires (RP effect, does not apply to any attack). Cost: -1 Requirements: Fire must be your primary specialty. So... instead of immunity, now it's a 25% damage reduction-snip-. Also, I fixed some spelling mistakes. The "(x)" is where you fill in the name of a star. It would be totally awesome if this didn't get denied immediately. Edited September 12, 2007 by Matthias Drake
cntrstrk14 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Couple things. 1. Permanently loosing stats is not really allowed because its messes with the total, like gifted did. So that isnt really a possible negative. 2. The effect to pay off the rest of the reduction, that looks like a tech, remove it. I know what you are trying to do with this, and I will not allow it to be that easy in an auto-skill. You should have to use a response jutsu to get over 75% reduction to damage, meaning that you would not get main phase action.
Matthias Drake Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 Done. I don't think a permanent HP penalty should really be against the rules, but alright.
