Terrick Sukrai Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Name: Tornado Born of Mountains Type: Spirit (Ninjutsu equivalent) Rank: Osechigo (Genin equivalent) Cost: 60 chakra Damage: N/A Effects: Used in the Setup Phase. User gains +40 Taijutsu and +40 Accuracy until the end of the turn. User is under the effect of 'Distracted' for one turn. Can only be used up to 3 times per fight. Description: This technique seems more physical than spiritual, but at its core is very much a skill of the mind and soul instead of the body. It involves using one's spirit and will to temporarily reinforce the body, able to hit harder while moving faster through focusing on the energies moving through and around your body, willing them to shift more efficiently and easily. However, this concentration leaves you possibly vulnerable to a counter-attack... Points: 4, must be a Shadow Stalker. Erosion 1 Edited October 9, 2011 by Terrick Sukrai
Kouta Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 1. Upkeep needs to be in the cost, not effect. 2. "User is distracted while doing so" <--- Does that mean you are distracted for the duration of the jutsu? Or only while casting it? Cuz the latter would be only one phase and not at all worth mentioning. 3. "modifiers can be used to raise it higher" <--- No. Stat raising jutsu are only whats in the jutsu. The opponent's mods don't get to counter your bonus, so your mods don't get to give you a bonus. 4. Whats up with all the equivalents? Just say it is Genin Rank and is a Ninjutsu.
Terrick Sukrai Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 1. Fixed. 2. Distracted for as long as you maintain the jutsu. 3. Fixed. 4. Becauz I is wantin' 2 B spashul! Besides, this isn't available to ninja.
Rhap Sodos Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Name: Tornado Born of Mountains Type: Spirit (Ninjutsu equivalent)/Medical? -Heads up: you make this a Medical Jutsu you're going to need a Medical Skill to use it unless otherwise stated. Medical Jutsu Rank: Osechigo (Genin equivalent) Cost: 60 chakra, 48 chakra upkeep to max of 4 turns. Damage: N/A Effects: Can be used in Setup Phase. Allows you to gain 0.5x Taijutsu and 0.5x Speed, where x= up to a maximum of 80. Can only be used three times per fight. Can only be used up to 3 times per encounter. (The spirit is willing, but the flesh is still weak!) User is also Distracted for one turn or while Upkeeping. May not be used offensively. - I don't like this as a Setup Phase jutsu, unless you have it as Medical. - What's the difference between "Encounter" and "Fight"? - What determines the value of "x" (other then up to 80), e.g. How could it be less then 80? - "User is under the effects of 'Distracted' while this technique is in effect" - Probably a cleaner way of saying what you have. Terrick Sukrai Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Shadow Stalker approved here Skill Name: Shadow Stalker Samurai Bloodline: Regular Description: Samurai in the current day and age are normally seen as throwbacks to a more primitive time, from before the days of chakra usage and jutsu capable of slaughtering dozens of men in the blink of an eye, and thus are usually treated as inferiors or are seen as little more than house guards by most shinobi. Except for the Shadow Stalkers. Shadow Stalkers are samurai who, through rigorous training, exposure to chakra and chakra-related techniques, supernatural instances, and captured documents on shinobi training techniques, have become specialists in hunting down or defending against the various techniques of a ninja. Though still samurai and heirs to the ideals of bushido, they also know the secrets of those who slip through the shadows, allowing them to do the same in order to track their prey more effectively as well as resisting their offensive magics. Most travelling merchants will hope to hire such Stalkers as bodyguards if they feel particularly threatened, while every daimyo seeks to gain the services of one as a yojimbo. Effect: 'The Character is not a shinobi-nin, and is rather a Samurai, and considered a Samurai, instead. Remove the 'Ninjutsu' Stat, and replace it with a stat known as 'Spirit'. Spirit is the same for all intents as Ninjutsu, in that if one would 'seal' ninjutsu they could 'seal' spirit. The singular difference between spirit techniques and ninjutsu techniques is that Spirit techniques may be used offensively -only- on supernatural creatures, (IE: Animal Kami; Demons, Summons, and other supernatural entities. For all intents and purposes, Spirit is exactly the same as Ninjutsu in regards to statistical battles, so the modifiers it gives to offensive attacks are defended against by the same modifier that would defend against ninjutsu. Skills like 'Knowing the Elements' may not be used against 'Shadow Stalker' or 'Spirit' Techniques, and all void and medical main site techniques for ninjutsu are capable of being obtained via the 'Shadow Stalker' skill as a requirement, if they fit the same 'effective rank' to take it. Spirit techniques utilized within the set-up phase may be used to modify kenjutsu or taijutsu attacks or techniques used in the subsequent main phase or may be used to 'up' the Shadow Stalker's stats for that turn, by the normal rules for the equivalent rank ninjutsu. Offensive Spirit techniques and Spirit/Kenjutsu, and Spirit/Taijutsu combinations may only be used during the main phase. Cost: -1? Must be taken at character creation. Changed it to Spirit/Medical Exchanged Encounter for Fight Removed 'x' Edited October 1, 2011 by Terrick Sukrai
cntrstrk14 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Warning: The second you put Medical tag on anything you will need the main site skills to get it depending on its rank and JP cost. Even with your skill, that just allows you to take it if you have the required skills from the main site as well. It doesn't let you bypass requirements. I'm on the fence with setup phase jutsu and what they should be allowed to do. This is actually a conversation staff has been having recently. My feelings are that a jutsu in the setup phase should be used to either modify a main phase action or do something else. Boosting stats in my opinion is a very "main phase" action, especially if it lasts beyond the turn. I would say either make this only last until the end of the turn or make it main phase. Also, what does "This may not be used offensively" mean? That this technique specifically cannot or that the points cannot?
Terrick Sukrai Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Cannot be used offensively means that it couldn't be used on others... Adding that in now. Sorry.
