cntrstrk14 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Bebop StyleDescription: Some intimates of battle have described a fight as a dance, a clash of two highly trained opponents trading blows to the death. Their movements and flow creating a symphony of movement and skill. The Bebop Style is an extraction of this concept- albeit a very literal one. The disciple of this style uses the beats of their music to clear their mind and accent their movements in the heat of battle. While enveloping themselves in the beats of a song, they can move without thought and strike in an almost hypnotic style. The style is extremely unorthodox, but a student of it can become extremely deadly in their own right. Most people underestimate this style because the user of it looks as if they are beat dancing the entire time they are using it, from small movements of the shoulders to full out shuffle dancing in between blows.Effect: A player must have a music playing item in their possession (minimum cost of ¥20). Music must be continually played while charges are active. If music is stopped at any point, or the user is rendered unable to hear the music, all charges are lost. User may use their Setup Phase to change the style of music they are listening too. Beat Charges are gained whenever a Bebop Style attack hits the opponent with an additional charge being generated the turn after a successful attack is landed. May never generate more than two (2) charges in a turn. The user may spend charges in the following ways and only when the associated type of music is playing...• Breakbeat - The user may spend x Beat Charges in their Setup Phase in order to give themselves +40x Taijutsu for the next two turns. May never have a total bonus higher than 200 Taijutsu.• Dubstep - The user may spend x Beat Charge to give their next multi strike attack an additional x strikes. May only be used with techniques that have two or more strikes. The maximum value of each strike may not be more than 40 DP.• Techno - The user may spend x Beat Charges to give their next attack +5x% chance to hit.• Trance - The user may spend x Beat Charges in their Response Phase to raise their Concentration by 60x for that turn.Cost: -3 SP
cntrstrk14 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Bump, this style is tight. I want to get it approved.

The user may spend charges in the following ways and only when the associated type of music is playing... I know there was just a hotfix about phrasing in styles (ie Strike v. Hit.) So I wanted to know if this was up to date. My question; can multi-hit jutsu generate multiple charges? Also, is there a limit to how many charges you can have at any one time? I know most of your effects have limits on them, but does that mean the user can have as many charges as they want? Techno and Trance don't have limits, which seems odd. If there isn't a limit on charges nor the effects, it wouldn't take long to get 10 charges and increase chance to hit by 60%. This also relates back to whether or not techniques generate charges per strike or not. • Breakbeat - The user may spend x Beat Charges in their Setup Phase in order to give themselves +60x Taijutsu for the next two turns. May never have a total bonus higher than 300 Taijutsu. • Dubstep - The user may spend x Beat Charges to give their next attack multi strike attack an additional strike. The value of x is equal to six (6) minus the amount of strikes the technique has normally. May only be used with techniques that have two or more strikes. • Techno - The user may spend x Beat Charges to give their next attack +6x% chance to hit. • Trance - The user may spend x Beat Charges in their Response Phase to raise their Concentration by 60x for that turn. Cellar Door Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 You don't need the bit about gaining a charge when hitting with a Bebop tech. It's in the base rules that all styles do that, unless you're wanting to double-dutch and get 2 a hit, which I would advise against unless you want Major running around yanking his hair out. Here's a wealth of knowledge on styles PMM. 1- Put something in stating explicitly that you can't have more than one music type playing at once. 2- May never have a total bonus higher than 300 Taijutsu. What kind of restriction is this? It's just the maximum that Breakbeat can grant. Breakbeat and Trance need a 1.5x the base stat clause. You can theoretically take this at level 0, and theoretically gain what equates to a bunch of stats for Genin. 3- This needs to cost like... -5? Each one of these is essentially better than the main site styles, while also being 4 styles in one. So no, -2 won't work.
cntrstrk14 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 @Panda: Fixed the strike terminology, this was definitely before that update, good catch. @KC: 1.) There already was, second sentence. 2.) I revisited this, though it works with the same mechanics. Lowered the bonus since it lasts two turns. The cap is there since you can spend 5 charges for the "full" bonus and the next turn use another charge to get another +40. The 1.5x rule doesn't need to be stated. If not stated it is the default rule for all additions to stats. 3.) Changed to -3 after adjustments to bring it more in line with main site styles. I feel that each of these could be a style of their own and the ability to take away all the charges by breaking the music device.
Hardcore Skittlez Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Techno and Trance each give a little more than 40 dp's worth per charge, but given that this is a -3 and they both are fairly in line with the mainsite stances, I'm okay with that. Approved.
Major Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 If music is stopped at any point, all charges are lost. Seems to me 'or if the user is deafened' belongs in there too.
Major Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Enough of these are watered down to say 3 sp, sure. Approved.
cntrstrk14 Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Moved back and updated so that it requires Taijutsu to be used.
Hardcore Skittlez Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Still seems ok after staring at it for a half hour. Approved
