  1. I apologize for those affected by my absence this past month. Just as the site had come back online I had come home from work to find my wife had made a suicide attempt. Needless to say my priorities have been in a different place while I worked on getting her help, while also maintaining the home and working. I've done enough now to feel comfortable relaxing a bit, but I'll tell you the last month has been exhausting and I might be a tad bit slow getting back into new content.
  2. I understand, essentially this in a vacuum is balanced but the mechanics could be abused by others that might reference it as the justification for broken tech. Just like you said, this was already watered down as is, doing any more will just make it weaker than just using 2 seperate techniques. Thank you everyone for your input, I will keep it in mind for future creations. If possible, can we scrap this thread?
  3. According to your math I would pay 155 Chakra for 120 Damage and a 35 CP status effect. That's a 1:1 ratio, for a chuunin ability that more than likely will not deal maximum damage. As the ability currently stands the ratio is 120 Chakra for 155 CP, which is just barely shy of the traditional 4:5 ratio (2.6% off). The additional CP was something I believed was justifiable, considering the setup required for damage. If it isn't I can change it to a status effect that will drop the ratio below the standard rates. If at all possible I would like to get KC's opinion, since he suggested the change to begin with.

If a clone is the target of a non Area of Effect attack, Clone becomes 'Enraged' and deals 75 lightning damage to itself before calculating incoming damage. The value of x is equal to the user's Ninja Rank (Genin; 1, Chuunin; 2, etc). Maximum of five (4) clones may be created. Description: A curious technique developed by disciples of the demon god, Raijin. Summoned by thunderous shout, Raijū Clone bodies are composed of both piercing, azure lightning and triumphant, rumbling thunder. Just as the demon god roars terrible lightning from the heavens, so too do Raijū Clones when death is imminent. Points: 3
  5. So I've reworked the technique according to this suggestion, turning the technique into a 2 option ability. Total cost for the damage would be 120 for 120 base damage (Maximum) plus 1 turn of weakened. While the CP is 131 compared to the typical 120 for a technique like this, I believe the additional lengths the user needs to go to deal the full damage of the technique warrants the ratios.

  7. Taiko Drums | 太鼓 (Personal to Rājan Ikari; Advanced System) ★ Thunder is a terrifying element, trembling the very earth with its sound. Herald to storms, accomplice to lightning, thunder is primal, powerful and chaotic. Let this speak, then, of its master, the demon faced God, Raijin, who summons this force with the pounding of his great drums. Just as the heaven's echo the sounds of this deity's thunderous triumph, so too do the Taiko drums of his closest disciples. With every pound of the drum lightning peels forth, the sound of thunder echoing the battlefield, until all tremble before the boisterous laugh of heaven. Those who praise the demon faced God channel their chakra into specialized Taiko Drums that respond to struck beats as if they were hand seals. By matching the correct beat to the chakra signature of a technique, a disciple may channel lightning and thunder from the skin of their instrument. Effect This system can be activated as a Free Action in the Setup Phase while equipped with the item "Taiko Drums". While active, all of the user's basic attacks are modified by the Ninjutsu stat and are considered 'Lightning' element attacks. As long as the system remains active, the user may use 'Sound' and 'Lightning' techniques without forming seals. If the equipment 'Taiko Drums' is unequipped lose all Tempo Charges and deactivate this system. Tempo Charges are gained upon performing a 'Sound' or 'Lightning' technique or attack. One Tempo Charge may be expended to create a "Lightning Swell" when performing an attack. An additional Tempo Charge may be expended to include the target of the original technique for "Lightning Swell". Charges may never be used on the same technique that generated them. Max 4 charges. Requirement Level 25 Must be Rājan Ikari; Or taught by Rājan Ikari Equipment 'Taiko Drum' Cost 10 Post Training -2 SP
  8. Raijū | 雷獣 Type: Ninjutsu (Sound; Lightning | Set Trap) Rank: Chuunin Cost: 120 Chakra Damage: 100 Effects: The opponent is 'Exposed' for 1 turn. Description: The user marks a target enemy by dismissing a portion of his chakra in the form of lightning made sentient which hides in the enemy's navel, seemingly falling asleep. When called upon the form will awaken and claw it's way out as ear shattering thunder and lightning, dealing damage and exposing the target to further harm. Points: 4 Thunder Crash | 雷激突 Type: Taijutsu & Ninjutsu (Sound; Lightning | Hybrid; Dynamic Trap) Rank: Chuunin Cost: 60 Stamina | 60 Chakra Damage: 150 Effects: May be cast if the set trap 'Raijū' has been activated and the opponent is targeted with 'Lightning Swell'. Description: The user sends a bolt of lightning crashing down at his ground location, ascending into the sky. Shortly thereafter they crash down at their target's location, guided by the exploding chakra of Raijū, crushing anything in their path. Points: 6

  13. My goal is to create something that creates a choice or punishes reckless decision making. With the defensive nature of this technique, the point is to change the pace of a fight. Essentially, slow things down while punishing an opponent that chooses to press forward. I don't want to force an opponent to not be able to do something, which is why I want to avoid something that says he simply can't do something. If the opponent chooses to go that route that's a decision and not a forced option. It's a varied approach to static defense that changes the conversation from "Can I damage this barrier?" to "Should I damage this barrier?"
