Bloodline: --

Effect: The skilltaker's base defense may not be ignored by Ninja of an equal or lesser rank. If a bloodline would allow them to ignore the skilltaker's defense, either by skills or techniques, then the amount they are able to reduce the skilltaker's defense by is reduced by 75%. Requires Path of the Defender.

Description: A true defender is as much a person as they are a physical representation of will. They will not be moved, not be brushed aside by anything. A defender stands tall, even in the face of the impossible.

Cost: -2

Efficient Defender

Bloodline: --

Effect: When blocking incoming techniques with a wall or barrier-type Ninjutsu, absorb 10% of the total damage blocked back as health for the user. If a technique breaks the wall or barrier, absorb 10% of what was blocked. Requires Path of the Defender.

Description: Experienced defenders not only deflect damage, but are also able to absorb it into their own bodies. The ability to convert energy into restorative chakra is priceless, affording longevity even in the face of impossible strength.

Cost: -2

Is the last one absorbing the damage back as health for the construct, or for the user?

I remarked on the first one in a different thread.

Second one is approved.

Third one needs a description, but it's effects are acceptable.

Fourth one, I need the answer to that on.

The last one sounds like something that should be worked into a technique itself, rather than a blanket skill that covers all possible defensive situations. Especially with no real cost to the user.

Effect: So long as the skilltaker's overall speed and evasion are 0, they gain a +5% bonus to their 'to-hit' chance every time they take a hit. Does not carry on to the next battle.

-By 'to-hit', do you mean 'Accuracy'?

Description: The slow are not always stupid. While the body rests, the eyes are always on the move. They see what their foes hide carefully, observing a weakness in every stroke, a hole in every defense. When finally taking action, it is easy to turn these weaknesses into a downfall.

Critical Defense

Bloodline: --

Effect: If the skilltaker blocks an attack, they may roll to critically block it, for 1.5x the amount. Rolls are done on a D100, with the default success being 1. Concentration may modify this chance at a rate of 1% per 50 in the stat. The maximum chance is 50%. Strategist now applies to this skill instead of outgoing critical hits. Requires Path of the Defender. This one confuses me a bit...

- Has 'critial block' been defined before? How does it differ from a normal block?

- 1.5x of what? The blocked attack?

Description: Some Ninja get lucky in the way of offense, scoring a blow on a sweet spot. Others are not so offensively-minded, preferring to prevent damage instead of causing it. Luck is on the side of these shinobi as well, providing plenty of opportunities to perform dazzling arts of self-conservation.

Cost: -3

Even if all ranks of guard expertise are taken, this skill has only a 20% chance to activate. So, yes- it's potent, but the effects are unlikely to come into play.

umm. to-hit is the actual accuracy thingy. like a mod. at least that's what i'm getting at with it. xD

removed critical defence.

10% of the total damage being blocked.

You could make that critical defense skill deal half damage or .5 the damage of the technique. I think that would make it equal to critical hits, and then you could also add a clause like it eliminates the user's ability to get critical hits. I really liked that skill so I would really hate to see you drop it.

I'd like to see this only applied to the next technique used by the owner of this skill. It shouldn't carry on throughout the entire fight in my opinion.

I don't very much have a problem with this, as it's not putting up big regen numbers. However would this still heal the user if the barrier is broken?
