The Hoshigaki are human, sort of. They stand just like humans, they walk like humans, they grow funny hairstyles like humans. In fact, they are more human than anything else, and are human without a flaw, aside from the faint amount of shark or shark like genes amongst them. Hoshigaki are perhaps, the most noticeable of the Kirigakuran clans. People with Hoshigaki genes which are dominant have blueish skin, along with whatever the 'normal' color the other parent might attribute, resulting in sky blues to midnight blues in skin tints.

This skin tinting and the slightly rough skin texture they have is a mark of their strange heritage, and in addition to this, have gill like slits upon their cheeks. These gill like slits are indeed, gills. The shark genes which are their family's dominant form of heritage show in quite a few ways, and as such, have traits which normal humans could only hope to gain.

Samehada Rank 1; Aizame
Description: Every child who bears dominant Hoshigaki traits is born with skin which is just slightly more blue than normal children, in the least. It seems normal, but anyone who touches it will feel otherwise. It will feel somewhat like softened shark skin, slightly abrasive, but soft. Of course, these children are born with the same natural evolution that the rest of their clan has, and which their possible distant relatives, the Umikoi, also bear. The Hoshigaki have a dual respiratory system, an extra pair of lungs, and gills which filter out the hydrogen from water when water flows through them, allowing them to, like fish, gain oxygen even while underwater.
Effects:
-Members of the Hoshigaki clan have a sort of dual breathing system, and because of this, they can breath above or below water. Immune to the status effect: Drowning.
-Because of their slightly abrasive skin, and basic attacks or non-weapon taijutsu made upon the Hoshigaki deal 1X (Where X is the level of the Hoshigaki) less damage.

Samehada Rank 2; Aozame
Description: A step above the normal rank of the bloodline which the normal members of the Hoshigaki own, a member of the Hoshigaki with Aozame's skin becomes slightly more blue or blue-green, and if it stays the same tint, their gills grow slightly more wide. A Hoshigaki with this rank has skin that to the looks of those nearby seems somewhat normal, despite it's color, but is slightly abrasive to the touch. This growth comes from pushing the body, it does not simply 'appear'. It is with this rank that the Hoshigaki's body begins to allow it's owner to manipulate their chakras to make the dermal crystals which make their skin abrasive harsher, and as a result, the abrasiveness of their skin is not constant, and many are remarked as having silky smooth skin.
Activation: 5% Total Chakra.
Effects:
-Members of the Hoshigaki clan have a sort of dual breathing system, and because of this, they can breath above or below water. Immune to the status effect: Drowning.
-Because of their somewhat abrasive skin, and basic attacks or non-weapon taijutsu made upon the Hoshigaki deal 2X (Where X is the level of the Hoshigaki) less damage.
-In addition, any basic attack or weaponless taijutsu technique which a Hoshigaki with this rank of Samehada is hit with deals the originator of the attack 1/4X+(.125)Y unmodified damage, in return to is user.(where X is the level of the Hoshigaki, and Y is the incoming damage of the technique or basic attack.)
-Any Basic Attacks or Non-Weapon based Taijutsu used by a Hoshigaki with Aizame deals an additional 1/6thX (Where X is the Hoshigaki's level) damage.
-Every turn, 2.5% of the user's total chakra is payed to keep Samehada activated.
-The User's advanced regeneration is halted whenever this stage of the kekkei genkei is active.
-Does not stack with the previous rank of Samehada.
Cost: -2
Activation clause: A Hoshigaki retains the immunity to drowning, regardless of if their kekkei genkei is 'active' or not.

Samehada Rank 3; Hoojiro
Description: A step above the Aozame, a Hoshigaki with the final rank of Samehada, Hoojiro, is truly a formidable foe. Their resistance against damage grows, as their skin becomes naturally more tough from experience and battle, and as they gain more control over the expansion of the dermal crystals in their body via chakra, as well as they direction they move. Hoshigaki with Hoojiro have a singular clear marker as having Hoojiro, their skin becomes several shades more pale than it was, making the name of the final rank of their bloodline even more true, 'Great White Shark', after all. This lightening's exact source is unknown, but it has been reasoned from the energy touching their skin or the simple reflections of the sun's light against the dermal crystals. This rank is not entirely rare, but it is the most famous of the ranks, the rank which marked the legendary member of the Akatsuki and former member of the Seven Shinobi Swordsmen of Kirigakure no Sato, Hoshigaki Kisame, had obtained, was Hoojiro.

(where X is the level of the Hoshigaki, and Y is the incoming damage of the technique or basic attack.)
-Any Basic Attacks or Non-Weapon based Taijutsu used by a Hoshigaki with deals an additional 1/2X (Where X is the Hoshigaki's level) damage.
-Every turn, 5% of the user's total chakra is payed to keep Samehada activated.
-The User's advanced regeneration is halted whenever this stage of the kekkei genkei is active.
-Does not stack with the previous rank of Samehada.

I dislike the ability to deal not only the potential 360 damage to a taijutsu user, but to also send their own damage back against them (even if only fractionally). That gets far too powerful for a bloodline, in my eyes. Bloodlines aren't designed to deal massive amounts of damage, and it was MY understanding that they aren't allowed to affect an enemy at all.

Also, why suddenly reduce water ninjutsu as well in rank 3? I think a dragon smashing against you would still hurt as much as if it were made of water as if it were made of fire or ice or sand...
