Guest Zionward Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 (edited) Note: These pieces of equipment have no cost, as they are handed out to clan members before training. Cadets choose between White Razor or Black Grip depending on whether or not they are becoming a medical cadet or a warrior cadet. Name: Cadet Jacket (Cross/Emblem) Armor Type: Jacket Body Placement: Body Attributes: Weathered Special: Adds 20 to both Defense and Resistance while equipped. Description: Jacket handed out to all members of the Hyuuga clan who are entering into the basic training of their clan. There are actually two versions of this jacket, one carries the emblem of the Hyuuga clan and the other a bright green cross. The jacket bearing the clan emblem is for warrior cadets and the jacket with the green cross is for medical cadets. Its sleeves extend a few inches past the elbow, but no further. And the wide collar buttons from the right to the left. Down the front runs the zipper. In spite of the simple design, it is quite effective at resisting the elements and guarding against impact. Equipment: Cadet Jacket Attribute Name: Weathered Effect: All effects due to elemental Ninjutsu techniques have their duration lessened by a turn, but cannot negate the effect. Effect Costs: N/A Name: Black Grip Armor Type: Gloves Body Placement: Hand(s) Attributes: N/A Special: Increases the ratio of chakra to damage when using the Gentle Fist fighting style. For Jyuuken level, the ratio becomes 3:1, for Rokkingu level, that ratio becomes 1:1. Adds 5 to Defense and Resistance. Description: A black leather glove that is equal parts leather and iron plates. It is specially constructed to not boost physical damage, but to instead increase the effectiveness of the Gentle Fist fighting style. Therefore, at every fingertip of the glove, there are small holes to allow chakra to flow through easily. This is was created for the sole use of warrior cadets to hone their chakra control and forget that physical damage is not to be relied upon. The black iron plates are placed strategically to still allow the hand to flex as normal and still offer minor protection. Name: White Razor Armor Type: Gloves Body Placement: Hand(s) Attributes: N/A Special: Channeling, if maxed out, modifier effect is raised to the ratio of 1.5:1 when using medical ninjutsu. Adds 5 to Defense and Resistance. Description: A white leather gloves that is equal parts leather and iron razors. It is specially constructed to boost the ability for medical cadets to protect themselves. This glove actually stretches an inch beyond the wrist, where a small iron brace holds the glove in place is concealed. Resting on top of the fingers yet part of the leather of the glove are vicious iron nails that extend two or so inches past the fingernails. The tips of these nails are so delicate that when applied correctly, they neither cut nor scrape. Also, the nails are hollow, allowing chakra to flow through them. Name: Cadet Boots Armor Type: Boots Body Placement: Feet Attributes: N/A Special: Adds 10 to Defense Description: Simple boots that all cadets wear during training. Carefully padded, they make continual movement more comfortable and swift. Further, these boots are part of the Hyuuga image that show everyone how organized the clan has become and will remain. A small display that signifies how military-oriented and combat dedicated the clan has become in the last century. Impressive, nonetheless. Edited February 18, 2006 by Zionward
Rei Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 NA doesn't allow anyone to have free items, unless they are admins of course.
Guest Zionward Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Well, it's about time clans were more than just an excuse for techniques and skills. I'm building a clan that supports itself. Equips itself. And watches over itself. Not just a clan that's mentioned vaguely, but a community within a community.
Arashi Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 There is no problem with items for a specific clan, but they can still not be free, that would not be fair for the rest of the members (or better said no-Hyuugas).
Maelstrom Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I see no problem with this. In fact, this should encourage more clan exclusive items. Keep up the goodwork, Mens.
shinobi523 Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I agree with Maelstrom this is a good idea. ( I need to think of Nara clan items.)
Guest Laguna Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I don't like it... Free Items=No No, anytime... mainly I don't like the idea of clans getting free exclusive items because that would just give clan people another 1up over non clan people... Also... what if... say someone made a clan... and made super items! Look they are free for people in the clan... and I'm the only one in the clan... All these items should cost something... They can be clan exclusive... but I think thats about it...
Takius Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Reduced prices, maybe? Like, maybe the admins/mods calculate the cost, then cut it down by 25%. Just my opinion...
Maelstrom Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 These items aren't even close to being 'super-powered' or anything. Thus, I don't see why they shouldn't be free. Besides, no one in their right mind would allow a clan to have free items if they were, as you say, 'super items'. But, should it be agreed that a price should be imposed, I'd say it should be no more than $30 max. However, I am in strong disagreement with this.
Guest MrSako Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 (edited) Here is my 2 cents... For Clans that have Equipment, the starting money for their clan members is lowered to $25 (call it Clan dues). Furthermore, every time the PC gets money for a mission, 10% of the BASE reward goes to the Clan (the tithe, to pay for the Clan EQ and what nots). If a character has a hindering trait that causes them to get less money from a mission, that also applies to the base. If this game was an MMORPG, then we'd pretty much have 'Clan Accounts' where the Clan Head keeps track of how much money is rolling in, spends it to equip its members, etc, but seeing that each village is capped at 18ish, and that each clan has a max of like... 4 members, then I think the above is a better solution. Edited February 19, 2006 by MrSako
Arashi Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 @Seven: Just what I tried to say. @Maelstrom: This items gives 60 stats, reduces an effect by one turn and raises a ratio, all for free. Do you REALLY think that's fair? If you turns to say something like that I will ask an admin to put more "-" in your title. @Sako: That would be much more fair. @Shinobi523: If you are going to create something for the whole Nara clan, I want to be the first to know about it, okay?
Maelstrom Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Fine, fine, but I would stand by MrSako's idea. And Arashi, I think that was a bit uncalled for. Professionalism, please.
Arashi Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Uncalled? Why, it's just the truth. And don't tell me to be more profesional, specially thinking that only one month ago you were telling new members to leave the site because "they were noobs".
Guest Zionward Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 (edited) Arashi, Maelstrom. Either keep your replies on topic or don't even reply at all. After stepping back to see everyone's reaction to this idea, I must say...people are quite anxious over this. And I can see why. People here just aren't used to the concept of equipment. Which is a shame, because most of it is unfounded. If staff would just consider actually having standard equipment... Clans should be about more than an excuse for techniques and additional skills. They should be a community within a community that looks after its own. All they are here is a flimsy excuse for background information. So, I think that clanless shinobi should be put at a disadvantage. I mean, it's not like they had any clan to help raise them or train them. Besides, clanless shinobi can just make their own custom equipment and purchase it, but apparently any form of armor is frowned upon. Because heaven knows that armor actually protects from attacks. Hyuuga is a clan that has been living in general prosperity for the last century and it goes without saying that they have become more powerful. Could they not be able to afford to outfit their younger members for training? Not to mention it does not say anywhere that people cannot purchase the Cadet Jacket or Cadet Boots in the market. All in all, I say it's about time that both clans and armor are stepped up a bit. Interestingly, when done out... Wearing the ensemble of Jacket, Grip/Razor, and Boots it reduces damage from Tai, Sho, and Nin by 5 points. Just five points. Hm. Edited February 20, 2006 by Zionward
Tantan Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I approve, everyone read further before you freak out on me. The people taking this equipment WILL have to pay it off, OVER TIME. It will work like a loan. So when purchasing equipment from the clan you would owe the clan so much money. Then when doing mission a certain percent of the reward will go to the clan until the amount is paid off. This seems perfectly fair to me. Furthermore, no good clan head would allow someone to owe too much, so there would be restrictions. So this stuff still needs priced, which i admit I am not good at. But I approve of the equipment and concept.

Tantan Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I was thinking it would be a clan thing, supposing your clan leader will allow it I suppose so.
Lemon Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 He means could he take out a loan so he can actually afford a puppet here. But this is...the wrong place for discussing it.
Tantan Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I knew what he meant, but thank you lemon. I think the loan system would be for established clans only, to make it fair. So the clan would have to have a certain member base supplying it. Furthermore the clan would have to have the money to lend you. meaning that its members (pcs only) would have to have had to donate to the clan at some time. It would be a clan fund. Or a clan bank of sorts. Again, the gennin would loan the money from the clan, then pay the clan back as they get the cash.
shizuki Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Mmmm...I'll evaluate at a rate of $5 per stat point. Regarding the gloves, as you have the 's' in parentheses can you wear one of each? Cadet Jacket: Maybe $240, $40 for Weathered. Black Grip: Maybe $130, $50 for stats and $80 for the ratio thingy. White Razor: $50 for the stats, and...iono, $80 again? Cadet Boots: $50
Rei Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Lemon, unless someone asks you to or they are in dire need of help to understand me don't take it upon yourself to explain my posts.
shizuki Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I was able to get a lower rate on stats for armor than I'd thought. Now, re-evaluating at a cost of $3 for 1 stat point. Cadet Jacket: $160 Black Grip: $110 White Razor: $110 Cadet Boots: $30
