cntrstrk14 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The issue here is the ability of who gets to see character sheets. For awhile it was set up so that anyone who was in a hidden village could see the Nin List, and thus character sheets, of all of the people in that village. Within the last few days, I have changed this so that only a person who has the "<Village> Nin" mask is able to see the character sheets in their own village. Visitors and Missing Nin are not allowed to see the character sheets. However, I know many people enjoy browsing sheets and reading other character's histories and personalities. So I want to know, as members, what would you prefer? Sheets Being Public: Pros: Players can keep each other in check/fair, People can show off their character sheets to others (Many put a lot of work into it), Viewers can browse Nin Lists at leisure for fun (I sometimes like to read character sheets) Cons: Stats can be seen (Kind of a big deal) As well, with the implementation of the wiki we encourage users to place their non-stat related sheet info onto the wiki as well for others to read. This would be an alternative way to show off your character, but we know that many members enjoy going through the extent of making their sheets pleasing to the eye. Quote
Anonymous Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 As much as i like browsing Character Sheets, having all characters' stats in the open would be... bad. Would it be possible to have a "Who's Who" forum for all the IC characters? Where members can post their slaved-over sheets (sans stats) for all to enjoy? Quote
cntrstrk14 Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 No, BBCode does not transfer to the wiki. Maybe it can though, I'll talk to MD and see what he is capable of. Quote
Anonymous Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Well I just meant something in character creation, rpg talk, the world, or wherever. A sub-forum to put up the non-stat/jutsu/skill parts of your characters. If the wikia doesn't work out with bbc code, that is. Quote
Rhapsody Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 You should keep them set to village only, and members should be heavily pressured into putting the non-stat stuff on the Wiki. I think 'hiding' the abilities of the PCs adds a little more flavor to the world. If you're from a different country, you shouldn't know what your opponent is about to pull out in the middle of battle. Quote
Ghost Zero Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) I prefer village member only permissions but I also like Anonymous' idea as well. I think it would be nice if we could put our non-stat character information into a forum section that everyone one can see. Though the Wiki seems good as well if the BCCode can be transferred. dowhatnow Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Anyone who can see the village, just as it is now. Normal members don't need to see sheets that badly, as it's never been a real problem in the past, and even when it's approached that level a mod has stepped in and corrected it promptly. The only people that need to see them would be GMs and up, and for obvious reasons beyond that level. Quote
cntrstrk14 Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Yes, GM's, Mods and Admins can see all sheets on the site for obvious reasons. Also: I am confused if people aren't reading the poll correctly. The first one is as it is now, the second one is how it use to be, where Visitors and Missing-nin can see your sheet. Quote
Shinrya Kuteki Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I like the Wikia idea, personally. Having up the character's history, appearance, personality, etc where it's accessible for anyone to read, to strut our stuff. But if that seems to be an impossible dream, then I vote for option 1. Option 2 isn't such a big change, I don't think, but unless they're a high-ranking Missing-nin, it doesn't seem logical that they'd know everyone in the village and all their skills, proficiencies, etc. Just my two ryo, there. Baromosa Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Hmmm... the only logical reasons for non-villagers to get a hold of sheet information would be RP items like a bingo book or some unique reasoning like being in a village so long you've somehow become a part of it. But since that would be a re-masking hell for the the staff, I'd much prefer to have it so only actual village nin can see the sheets, (and obviously all staff and GM's.) The Staff can keep the sheets in check, especially the more active mods. Quote
dowhatnow Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I retract my previous statement and vote and hereby change it to only village members. I remember when I was young and didn't know much better, but I used to get the feeling of, "I CAN SEE YOUR SHEET! YOUR SECRETS ARE REVEALED TO ME!!!!" That's just what I'd expect from some, not all, of our member base. Quote
