No one knew where the Sound Eaters came from. Since the founding of a new Otogakure after Orochimaru's reign, these strange figures began to exist amidst the outskirts of the village. Some say their blood had been a part of Sakon of the Sound Four, given his ability to produce a twin. Friendly albeit too odd, they forged a flimsy peace with the common denizens. Back then, they weren't known as the Sound Eaters. They still had people voices and sat around wind chimes and bars and silenced them.

This existence continued until a man named Hagemasu Konsei sought to hone the strange ability of the Hagemasu. Memebers of the Hagemasu have become successful shinobi in the past, treating their genetic sound eating ability no different than hair color. Konsei focused on channeling the sound consumed and storing it, then regurgitating it as blasts of pressure. His practice continued until the NCIA invasion, where the aged man fell to the hands of the future Kumogakure empire. The once emboldened Hagemasu, once eager to follow Konsei's new path, retreated deep into the caves of Otogakure in the idle silence of their past. Kaisei, son of Hagemasu Konsei, subtly continued his father's project. It became known as the Shizukesa Project- aptly named; Shizukesa, meaning hush, was all that was heard and unheard in the Hagemasu underground.

Kaisei was reluctant to involve too many people. Should too many people participate in the Shizukesa project, he feared discovery. He feared the NCIA, feared that their organization would shatter two generations of work and split the new family roots he'd just put down. They'd be curious, he believed, and that their ignorant curiosity would lead them to coldly experiment with the Hagemasu abilities neither Konsei nor Kaisei fully understood. To this day, Kaisei and a small number of members in the Project avert their eyes from the worldly grime and continue on discovering the extent of the Hagemasu.

Due to their non-participation in overthrowing the NCIA, some villagers regard them as 'piggybackers' who crawled out from hiding a day after liberation. There wasn't much reputation to destroy anyways, some of the odder Hagemasu become the targets of scorn anyways. Most Hagemasu hold fairly low-wage non-scheduled jobs in the caves of their estate. Little jobs include things like gathering fungi, minerals, and guano and spending a few days peddling their harvest to the townspeople.

THE SHIZUKESA PROJECT
The front lines of the Project record an incredible aptitude for sound. Various purposes have been developed for this element of sound, including a medical branch of the Hagemasu to utilize positive vibes to repair the unique builds of their clan mates that few doctors outside the clan understand. Additionally, the Hagemasu's strength does not come from the raw, straightforward force of their sound alone, but from little idols of bottled pressure they are able to spit up from their bodies. These small orbs, called muses, bring about odd properties onto the field, with strange sonic powers to synchronize with fellow Hagemasu.

Kaisei's research is far from complete when compared to other developed clans. Those who delved deep into the Project begin to lose their voices from the wear and tear. Dry croaking ensued, and only with the aid of chakra could they manipulate the sound they learned to breathe out and turn them into words. The pressure they began to compress within their bodies sometimes backfired or simply crushed them on the inside. When free of these mortal mishaps, the intensity of the vibrations do make the Hagemasu jittery. Most noticeable is the constant trembling of their fingers, as well as their fast paced blinking. Many have developed various nervous habits in attempt to sate their need for constant movement.

Hagemasu have darker features. They always seem to carry a disheveled appearance- their hair is neither completely flat nor a cloud of curls, and their blackish eyes always appear sunken. Many have strange codes of fashion involving multitudes of formless layers that hide their normally scrawny frames in a way that almost resembles creepy grandmothers… Their skin carries a yellowy shade and their veins, especially those in their forearms and hands, are especially darkened and visible.
