My Ninja Way

Effect: This skill may be activated in any phase as a free action. Once per battle, a character with this skill may choose one of the following effects when their Health is at or below 25% of its total. This skill may not be used if the skill ‘Guts Pose’, ‘Stroke Of Genius’, ‘Stubborn Grit’, or ‘Healer’s Passion’ have been activated by this character during this battle.

 

1. Remove all negative status effects affecting this character.

2. This character’s next attack has a 90% chance to hit.

3. This character gains 15% of their total Stamina and Chakra.

Description: Nindō is an age old concept in the world of shinobi. Over time every ninja is believed to develop their own ninja way. These philosophies are what keep a shinobi going when their life is hard, and all they want to do is give up, roll up in a ball, and die. By tapping in to that determination, a ninja is thought to be able to overcome the most insurmountable obstacles.

Guts Pose

Effect: This skill may be activated in any phase as a free action. Once per battle, a character with this skill may choose one of the following effects when their Health is at or below 25% of its total. This skill may not be used if the skill ‘My Ninja Way’, ‘Stroke Of Genius’, ‘Stubborn Grit’, or ‘Healer’s Passion’ have been activated by this character during this battle.

 

1. Any skill or technique with a usage limit may be used one additional time by this character.

2. This character’s next attack may not be negated by Response Phase techniques.

3. This character gains 30% of their total Stamina.

Description: When things aren't going well, and enemies are closing in, there is often only one thing to do. Offer them a crisp smile, and a thumbs up. This age old method of bolstering determination and instilling doubt in opponents has been known to drive a gutsy ninja to snap victory out of the jaws of certain defeat.

Stroke Of Genius

Effect: This skill may be activated in any phase as a free action. Once per battle, a character with this skill may choose one of the following effects when their Health is at or below 25% of its total. This skill may not be used if the skill ‘My Ninja Way’, ‘Guts Pose’, ‘Stubborn Grit’, or ‘Healer’s Passion’ have been activated by this character during this battle.

1. This character may make 2 rolls to dodge the next unresolved attack targeting them, using the better result.

2. This character’s next attack has a 75% chance to deal critical damage.

3. This character gains 30% of their total Chakra.

Description: Battle is hectic, and even the most astute shinobi need precious time to analyze the flow of combat and devise a winning strategy. These intellectuals are capable of finding that one chink in their enemies armor though, and so when enemy's seem to have the upper hand, and nothing else could possibly turn the tide, that's when a genius tightens their noose.

Stubborn Grit

Effect: This skill may be activated in any phase as a free action. Once per battle, a character with this skill may choose one of the following effects when their Health is at or below 25% of its total. This skill may not be used if the skill ‘My Ninja Way’, ‘Guts Pose’, ‘Stroke Of Genius’, or ‘Healer’s Passion’ have been activated by this character during this battle.

1. The next technique used by this character has its Chakra or Stamina costs reduced by 80%.

2. This character gains 2 charges in a chosen Taijutsu style.

3. This character gains 15% of their total Health.

Description: Some ninja are gutsy, and some ninja are smart, and some have their own ideals that help drive them on. There are also ninja who are just too damn stubborn to die. These determined individuals don't talk a big game when things look bad, they just get pissed off and strive even harder to knock down whatever stands in their way.

Healer’s Passion

Effect: This skill may be activated in any phase as a free action. Once per battle, a character with this skill may choose one of the following effects when their Health is at or below 25% of its total. This skill may not be used if the skill ‘My Ninja Way’, ‘Guts Pose’, ‘Stroke Of Genius’, or ‘Stubborn Grit’ have been activated by this character during this battle.

1. The next offensive Ninjutsu technique used by this character is modified by 100% of their Ninjutsu modifier.

2. The next medical Ninjutsu technique used by this character heals 150% of its total.

3. This character gains 15% of their total Health and Chakra.

Description: To become a medical shinobi, a person requires a level of compassion and dedication higher than other ninja. Medi-nin live a life surrounded by pain and death, and sometimes, when things are looking extremely bleak, they are capable of channeling all the grief caused by their profession into aiding allies or seeking vengeance for them.

This is relatively minor, but can we pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease change the name of 'Hooray For Big Boned People!'

 

It's a great skill but it doesn't make any goddamn sense for a non-Akimichi.

could easily change the name to “Big Damn Hero Moment” or “Crowning Moment of Awesome.” Something that sells it

My way of the ninja: I have to say, although I have used it in the past, it always sat strange with me that an attack may not be dodged.  I think we should change that to be "The user's next attack is set for 95% chance to hit" allowing for the die roller to emphasize it's hate (megan).

 

Stroke of genius: I don't like that you can get an auto critical out of this for only 1 SP.  This can potentially stack with strategist and having two skills that let htis happen makes me a little frowny.  If it increases the likelihood of getting a critical by 50%, I'd be cool wit' it.

So, a bit of wording.

"Once per battle, when the user is at or below 10% of their total Health"

Saying "reduced to" sounds like a triggered ability that has to be used on the turn their health gets dropped below 10%.

Also, instead of "May not be used in the same turn as..." can we say "May not be used in the same battle as..."? Don't really want these skills chained together turn after turn.

Also "Kage" is not a rank of jutsu. "Sennin" is the word you are looking for.

I finally have these in a place where I think they're damn near perfect. I changed the amount of HP you're required to have. As it stands with our battle system, being between 10% and 0% is a real crap-shoot. At 25% you've at least got a decent chance of being able to activate one of these in a battle.

Scaled down the effects that Azure requested, and made it impossible to chain together any of the effects.


Oh, and I added a Medic one. Because fuck it.

All of this is excellent, you did a gang up job on these ol' chap.  I just have one hangup and it's on big boned people, I mean StubGrit
 

The next technique used by this character is considered to have a Chakra or Stamina cost of 0.

I really don't like the idea of potentially writing off ~1000 DP.  I think if it reduced the cost of a technique by a high % I would feel a lot better.
