(: We recognize a member each month, a creation every week, and alternate each week between recognizing NPC characters and PC ones. The prizes are minor, but we know what you really want is the glory, right? Right? D: The NA Awards is always accepting nominations regarding who you think deserves to be recognized, whether it be someone else, your yourself. There are topics in RP Chat to nominate both characters and creations, though Member of the Month, to avoid it turning into a public popularity contest, is a little more private. Those nominations should be mailed to me. (: Nominations and Discussion Thread Be sure to keep your eye on this spot, and nominate things and people you thing deserve commendation! Rhapsody Posted July 26, 2011 Author Share Posted July 26, 2011 FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 25, 2011 Character of the Week (PC): Yue Fei For those of you who can’t see Oto, and 1Q84’s Yue Fei, I’ll break it down for you. Yue is a foul mouthed brawler who grew up in the slums of Oto. He didn’t ever have dreams of becoming a Shinobi, but his desire to grow stronger and, perhaps better himself, seem to have forced him into it. In a world full of heroes, Yue’s bad temper and constant string of cuss words is almost refreshing. While most of us strive to create a character who is both honourable and likeable, 1Q84 went out on the edge, and gets major props for that. Creation of the Week: Empty Cicada Our first creation of the week goes to one that isn’t approved yet and, at first glance, may not seem like something spectacular. However, Anima’s Empty Cicada technique took the cake as just a small representation of the beautiful work he has done regarding puppets. As one of the only ones who have delved into the Puppet System, Anima has had to create a whole world of creations for himself, and has done so wonderfully, even when faced with the rest of us who aren’t quite sure what puppets are all about! Congrats, guys! But along with the glory, you also get to take home some swag! 1Q84 - $50 and 2 Jutsu Points for Yue. Anima - $100 to either of your characters. cntrstrk14 Posted August 3, 2011 Share Posted August 3, 2011 FOR THE WEEK OF August 1, 2011 Character of the Week (NPC): Hanyo no Ritsuka, "The Half-Demon Ritsuka" Ritsuka made his role play debut just a bit ago in the country of Otogakure no Sato where he saved a previous Character of the Week from certain demise from an angry mob. Depite his drugged up appearance, Ritsuka has earned his nickname of "Half-Demon". After a certain point of adrenaline, no matter how drugged up he is he will go into a bloodlust of power, destroying anything in his path. These dramatic mood swings always make for a completely unpredictable read. Find out more about Ritsuka on the wiki! Creation of the Week: Fʟüssɪɢsᴛᴀʜʟ Slightly older, but Aberacht has shown over time a knack for finding interesting areas in the system to innovate on. Taking a new element, he created a clan that was built around an element without simply making them deal more damage or become more accurate. It is the elegant effects that can have major impact that help to define many of Aberact's creations, and like last week this award shows just a small portion of the many great things he has made on this site since joining. Congrats Aberacht! Member of the Month (July): Rhap Sodos Anybody who has interacted with RS should know why she’s taking NA’s first MOTM. Rhap Sodos has done a lot for the site while she’s been here, and continues to do great things for us to this day. She’s a constant force both in creations and in role play, and made her way from member to GM to staff with amazing poise. In fact, I feel that one would be hard pressed to find a negative thing to say about her! Rhap Sodos, you’re a great member, and we hope that you’ll stick with us for the long haul! C: Congrats! In a village filled to the brim with psychopaths, marauders, and delinquents, Izzy stands above the rest as a pinnacle of what it means to NOT be a Kirigakurian. Unable to properly fight or even handle a droplet of blood without having a mental breakdown and falling into a comma, Izzy comes from the remnants of the old Namikaze clan that has since relocated to Otogakure no Sato. Existing as an outlier of the clan and a bit of a loner, Izzy's happy-go-lucky attitude hides the darker family history that hangs over his head. Creation of the Week: Vigilavi Mentem! After almost exactly year of changes, arguments, and waiting, Azure's Vigilavi Mentem has finally been approved. Being entirely based off the id, ego, and superego of psychology, the kekkei genkai merges the line between concepts and gameplay. For it's creativity, coupled with it's finalization as an approved creation, Vigilavi Mentem has earned it's title as Creation of the Week. Congrats! This week's winners get the following prizes! When the Kumogakure Empire rose to power several years ago, Inabikari Raikou stood at the pinnacle of it's power, commanding the NCIA as the Raikage of Kumogakure no Sato.Raikou was a self-made man who's violent actions belie an agenda for absolute peace. Steady in his resolve, Raikou's humble beginnings with no ties to the Raikage line of succession ended with him ruling the entire shinobi world- and was the first man to ever do so successfully. Though his name had been slandered and mud-splattered since the fall of the NCIA, Raikou is know as one of, if not the greatest Raikage that ever graced Kumogakure no Sato in the history of the village. He is a hero to the village, and was always acting within their best interests, even at great personal cost. Even still, his main goal in life was never to ensure Kumogakurian dominance, but rather, bring about the end of war by creating one, unified shinobi nation. Though he was diehard realist with a magnificently tactical mind, Raikou's mental growth would be a result of tragedy after tragedy that forced him to grow up, even as a mere gennin. The loss of practically all of his loved ones over the years only strengthened his resolve in finding an end to the conflicts in this world, even if he had to force the impossible to happen. Creation of the Week: Shakou no Dansu no Kiri! SHADAKI is the newest ANBU unit to be created in Kiri after its previous unit, DEATH, was destroyed in a civil war. It is the first ANBU unit to be created by a PC and does not follow the typical animal classification system. Instead, one can literally map out the progress of a recruit within SHADAKI as they go from Shade -> Whisper -> Chimera. Once they hit Chimera they will be divided into their specialties. As based upon mythology, the father of the chimera was called the “Eternal Typoon” and so the general of SHADAKI inherited this title. Their blank white masks contain living ink in which reflects their victim’s emotions in interrogation. Congrats! This week's winners get the following prizes! You may not have heard of Shouga, but that is probably by his own design. There is an art of keeping out of sight that the Kohashi and Shouga especially seems to have mastered and pioneered in the NA-verse. Shouga is one old character in NA years. His first appearance dating back to 2007, and he’s stuck around during the Empire days and now through the time skip. His chuggin’ through the remainder of a recent arc has landed him a spot on the CotW. What really is spot on about Shouga is his involvement and fleshing out (both IC and OOC) of the Kohashi clan. Being the only active PC from the clan, Jim has taken a ‘cool concept’ clan, embodied it and labored upon it to a point where it has become full circle in the NA canon. For being a team player and some brownie points. With much love, bubblegum and dandelion fields that are resistant to flames, we award you with Mr. PC! Find out more about Shouga on the wiki! Creation of the Week: Snakes! For someone to actually complete a summon set and get people to approve it is a reward in and of itself. But this reward is to prove that dedication counts, as it took over a year to get these approved! Given our constantly shaky system with summons, for a person to undergo the stressful project deserves a pat on the back. On top of that, snakes are one of the cornerstone summons on NA, being legendary in the Naruto Canon and made many times throughout the sites history by many different legendary staff members (good and bad!). In addition to the classic serpents, Major has put in the ‘venom’ element for this class of summons, which is completely unique to them. Thumbs up for completion, Major! Now just don't bite anyone Member of the Month (August): Azure! As one of our only two resident Admins on the board, Azure has been pulling a good deal of weight lately, all with a skip and a smile. Almost always in an eternal good mood, our blue boy is willing to help out anyone and everyone without complaint. This attitude flows through his characters as well, and it leaves a wonderful impact on the villages he runs. This feel-good demeanor combined with his careful use of power has most certainly earned him the title ‘Member of the Month’. Congrats! He’s the ace- the guy who can get away with anything and everything. Not only that, he’s a hormone in a humanoid form. When he walks through a crowd, everyone loses their virginity, and when he gets home, his goldfish stop swimming. He is Kuroki ‘Kai’ Malachi, and he’s an IAF Commander aboard the Aquila, home to the finest rejects this side of the Tsuchi no Kuni border. Born without a mental censor, Kai will let everyone know exactly how he feels about them and their bullshit, all the while ignoring their opinions of him. He’s playful, with a mean sarcastic streak that oozes with venom when you get him going. Despite his playboy ‘charms’, the man is a skilled ninja and a respectable Commander…when he’s not trying to fill the holes of everyone onboard the ship. Creation of the Week: Santetsu: Legacy of the Third Kazekage! An oldie but a goodie, Kouta has recently revamped the "Iron Sand" bloodline for NA 7.0, adding a defensive twist to skills inspired by the Third Kazekage in the Naruto series. Instead of dealing damage or increasing your own skill, Iron Sand instead focuses on weakening your opponents Defense, allowing for supplemental skills or techniques to hit a lot harder. The range of this bloodline, Kouta's vigilance to adjust and work with staff demands and its dedication towards a single goal is what lands this bloodline in our creation of the week! Congrats! Do you think you're abnormally quick for your level? Bet you ain't got nothing on Ren. This Gennin from Otogakure has sunk enough points in his speed stat to make even some of the Hachinin jealous, no joke. The self-proclaimed 'Flash' of Denchi no Kuni has spent a majority of the NCIA years traveling the world with his speedy feet, gaining a surprising amount of experience while he wandered. Though his feet may be a tad quicker than his wit, and his mouth a little faster than his mind, Ren is a genuinely good person at his core, and to those around him, which is a pleasant surprise from someone born into a village raised from vice and sin. For his absurdly amusing character build, as well as his humorous instigation of his teammates, Ren has more than earned his spot as this week's CotW.For more information about Ren, check out his wiki page! Creation of the Week: Samehada! Another oldie but a goodie, Samehada [alongside the other Seven Swords] are going through an extensive overhaul to prepare them for the first in-character use on the site. While based on the Naruto-canon sword, Warr's Samehada has one-of-a-kind abilities that successfully port the legendary sword to NA's battle system. While "free", the weapon requires not only a rather intensive quest to obtain, but extensive training as well to master; like it's Naruto counterpart, not just anybody can pick up the sword and wield it. Why? Because you have already gazed upon Oka bustin' through a wall, chili-dog in hand, shouting "Oh yeah!" from somewhere beneath his glorious handle-bar mustache and you are still asking yourself "Why?". Creation of the Week: Gigigigigigi! Another picture first! Click this link. Did you look at it? Good. There are very few creations that cause me to laugh aloud, and even fewer that I would approve after doing so. This technique takes a rather comical canon situation and turns it into a very real technique. Did you see those fangs? That evil yet hilarious laugh? Are you shitting bricks yet? Simplistic execution makes this one of the cleaner ports in recent history, and that is only one of many reasons why it deserved creation of the week! Congrats! Rhap Sodos Posted October 8, 2011 Share Posted October 8, 2011 FOR THE WEEK OF October 3, 2011 Character of the Week (PC): Nankan Keanu While this brosef 'as been checkin' it 'n Suna since he was a sprout, the truth of the matter is he'sa Nankan mutt whose Rai no Kuni menage are blowin' chunks 'cause of his blender blood. Keanu decided he needed a remix after the cloud squad's attempt to ice him, and has been checkin' his tail ever since. His jutsu is bunk and his language is rent, but this kite-hearty ain't passin' his verve to the hodad as he becomes a sand slinga' himself before he ends up waxed. Find out more about Keanu on the wiki! Creation of the Week: Creeper You know that guy in the back of the room? Breathing just a little to heavy. Its like you can feel his breath on the back of your neck. He stares a little too long, makes eye contact a little to often and just gives you the chills. You can't put your finger on what it is with him, but you just hope he doesn't put one on you. Its like he has some disconnect with human body language, like he was just raised not quite right, or there is something just slightly off in the back of his head. Whatever it is, this small disconnect with human nature is what wins our Creation of the Week slot. Check out the skill here! Member of the Month (September): K Mitsuhide! Recently, K Mitsuhide has set out to accomplish a rather daunting task; to make a compendium, or masterlist, or all techniques and skills that have been created by members throughout the years on NA. Not only is the work in progress list divided by rank and jutsu type, but K has also color coded each technique so members know instantly who the need to talk to to gain access to the technqiue.The time and effort K Mitsuhide has put into making this easily accessible list of creations is what makes him NA's member of the month.
