K Mitsuhide Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 For characters with Death Bonuses, what are the monetary rewards? Could they perhaps be translated instead into a sort of "credit" towards a legendary weapon or something if we prefer? Also, will bloodline skills obtained that are above the rank of the shinobi have to be removed as well? Quote
Rhapsody Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Not complaining, just wondering. Why were DBs removed? Quote
Cellar Door Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 With the experience progress shifting, and lower levels taking longer to level up, we felt that a character with a high death bonus would be much more powerful considering the length of time it would take for a character with a death bonus to even out in power. Quote
K Mitsuhide Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Perhaps DB's could stay, but without the bonus XP and stats? That way, they would still have access to higher traits. Unless that is also part of the overpowering of the character. Quote
Cellar Door Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 We felt it in the spirit of fairness would be best to nuke the whole system, and you'll have to speak with C14 about getting credit for a legendary weapon, but my first inclination would be to say no. Quote
PandaMattMatt Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Will there be a period of time before the timeskip to have a chance of getting our characters back to what they should be? Because from what I can see, most people will barely be breaking even at the end of this 5 years, which would effectively "halt" their character's strength but age them 5 years. Quote
Terrick Sukrai Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 What about the jutsu point and skill point bonuses for DBs? Are they still there, or gone along with the stat additions? Quote
Azure Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Perhaps DB's could stay, but without the bonus XP and stats? That way, they would still have access to higher traits. Unless that is also part of the overpowering of the character. The problem is, everyone goes so insane over all the death bonus stuff and always having to bring up the rolls in staff is a pain, especially with all the checking, forgetting and misrolling. We figured it would benefit the site health for the whole if we just got rid of them. Also, now you don't have to feel as though your characters must be super intellectual if DB'd and just average if not. Will there be a period of time before the timeskip to have a chance of getting our characters back to what they should be? Because from what I can see, most people will barely be breaking even at the end of this 5 years, which would effectively "halt" their character's strength but age them 5 years. You get 4100 EXP for this skip, essentially letting you figure out how you want your character to mold over the time skip. This is will only possibly be problematic for the people doing Buyback Exp, but that is, like was said- an option and not mandatory. Besides, FOR those people, the extra exp will help them get back on their track. If you need some help making it "logical" just ask a GM or staff member for help. We're good at BSing for sense What about the jutsu point and skill point bonuses for DBs? Are they still there, or gone along with the stat additions? We will give out monetary rewards for these. We didn't list them out yet, the same reason we haven't given out the Chuunin exams Exp. We want everyone to get used to the changes before applying them. Quote
Leon Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Since the speed change rule heavily effects Ren, am I to assume I can no longer RP him as fast? EDIT: and if I can no longer RP him as fast for his rank is there anyway I could make a skill that allows me to? EDIT 2: Do chunnin exam participants begin editing now or do we wait for the official end of the tourney? Edited April 1, 2012 by Leon Quote
Azure Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Not as fast. You can RP him as a bit quicker, and still as fast as a shinobi (who already can be pretty quick). We're trying to balance to stratification of ninja speed in order to get a greater aspect of time and there are plenty of loopholes in speed that hinder that. So no skill on that. It would probably be easier to wait to edit, just so you can do it in one big bulk and decide how you want to shape your character. Just as there will be another time-skip post later in the week, you might want to hold off and see what other goodies we might have in store. Quote
K Mitsuhide Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Since the speed change rule heavily effects Ren, am I to assume I can no longer RP him as fast? An idea might be to do what you were doing with evasion instead. Since a possibility for evasion is to simply be able to dodge attacks with pure speed, it might be a good replacement. Quote
Juno_Reactor Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) I'm not sure I quite get the new speed rule (or rather lack of one) - what's going to happen? Presumably it's not going to be just as simple as turn-about based on rank or something? EDIT: Oh, and plus, I'm assuming any jutsu's that directly affect only speed can be 'forgotten' and the JP refunded? This feels pretty obvious but I didn't see it anywhere so I thought it best to check. DOUBLE EDIT: Oh, oh, oh and also - re. the timeskip - what's the situation with 'buyback' levelling (or not) regarding the cash bonus. Will it be based on old NA or new NA character levels? Azure Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ... April Fools! We're good at BSing for sense <3 Quote
Azure Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Just 8.4.1. 8.0 with the exp changes are still in effect. Everything in the last big news post is NOT. Quote
Eechi-go Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ^ Poor taste? Perhaps. But this whole thing put Cntr in a laughing fit for a while, so the ends justify the means. Quote
cntrstrk14 Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 I still giggle a bit. 8.4.1 .... 4.1 .... April.1 .... Quote
