MadKatters Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Where do we download the new expansion? Wait, is this F2P? I mean, I don't want to have to pay for anything...... *Glares at KC* On a serious note. Is this going to be like Arrakis? Where I can totally be a voyeur and lol at the noobies getting pwnt? Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Is this going to be like Arrakis? In regards to the Main Event: No. Unlike Arrakis (which was a tournament open to characters of every level), the Chuunin Exams are for lower level characters (Sub-30). It will also mimic the exams as shown in the Naruto series - you will have a primarily event (similar to the Forest of Death) and a 'practicum' event (the Player vs. Player battle portion). However! There will be 'side events' that will be open to players of all levels, so there will be activities your character can participate in regardless of their level. Where I can totally be a voyeur and lol at the noobies getting pwnt? Yep! Characters who do not wish to compete in any of the events can still come watch, and interact with other players during the event. Quote
dowhatnow Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Are these 'side events' bound by the same restrictions for those who wouldn't participate otherwise as they are for regular participants? To clarify: if a character participated in the side event, but not in the regular tournament, would they be unable to level their character until its conclusion? Edit: I would think not, but it's a Q & A, so why not. Edited September 15, 2015 by dowhatnow Quote
Cellar Door Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Any side events or mini-games will be available for any character wishing to take part in the revelry of the event, even if they are not active participants in the exam. Side events also will not have the same restrictions placed on experience gain as the tournament itself, for obvious reasons. If you're not actively participating in the exam and you somehow gain experience from the events (You probably won't they're mostly for monetary rewards and such) you are capable of leveling at will. TLDR; Anybody can do side events, and you can level. Edited September 15, 2015 by Cellar Door Quote

PandaMattMatt Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) With a few players entering in multiple PCs what would happen in the event that two PCs owned by the same player end up facing one another? Edited September 23, 2015 by PandaMattMatt Quote
cntrstrk14 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 They will have to knock themselves out of the tournament. Woof. Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 With a few players entering in multiple PCs what would happen in the event that two PCs owned by the same player end up facing one another? Real Answer: Pairings are going to be random. Depending on what stage of the tournament it is and how many entrants their are, we might be able to tweak the bracket slightly to prevent a person from facing themselves. We'll also have a few NPC players made to fill in the bracket on the off chance we end up with a odd number of combatants. While we cannot guarantee that you won't have to face yourself (that's the risk you take if you decide to enter two characters) we will try and prevent it if possible. Quote
MadKatters Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 But, like, how does that work? Do you trust players to fairly play their characters? Or will their be mod supervision? Or do they just like right one big-ass post of back and forth rounds? Or, will we just figure it out when the time comes? (Not that I'm entering two characters but it's worth asking xD) Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) If a person wished to receive full potential rewards for both of their characters, they would have to battle it out between their PCs just like it was any other fight (though they would get three days between each of their posts so they didn't have to do the whole battle at once). The Dice Roller would be the ultimate decider in this case, because if they were obviously 'cheesing' the battle to favor a character it would be considered a Drop. This would involve things like having one of their PCs choose not to dodge and instead face tank every attack, and then deciding not to attack in turn. ... They could also just opt for one of their characters to Drop, which is what we did in the previous Chuunin Exam when a match had a 'no-show' or somehow was DQ'd before a winner could rightfully be determined. In this event, the "Winning" character would receive 75% EXP/100% Money, and the losing character would receive nothing, which means dicking over their other character real hard. All the battles will have mod supervision, regardless of the competitor/s. Edited September 24, 2015 by Rhap Sodos Quote

Peregine Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 In the case of players entering multiple characters, are Relic Points allocated in a shared pool or tracked separately? And can a player only purchase one item of Relic Gear even if they enter multiple characters? Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 That was a wording oversight, and it's been updated to: "players may only purchase one piece of Relic Gear per character". The intent was never to make it so a player can only purchase one piece and chose what character it goes to, but rather to make what piece each character gets meaningful, and to prevent one character from walking away with 4+ pieces. Relic Points are going to be allocated and tracked separately. Quote
Hardcore Skittlez Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I understand that character sheets will be locked, but will there be any leniency to characters who gain items between matches as a part of a skill effect? Path of the Artisan, Poison Creator-type skills, etc, etc. Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 (edited) I understand that character sheets will be locked, but will there be any leniency to characters who gain items between matches as a part of a skill effect? Path of the Artisan, Poison Creator-type skills, etc, etc. Once the event starts, you will not be able to make any changes to your character sheet. So, no adding skills, or techniques, or items, etc. However, that doesn't mean you cannot create them. Using the example of Path of the Artisan (- Craftsman: User may write words to create or upgrade equipment at a cost ratio of $3 per 2 EXP earned.), if you wanted to work on upgrading equipment while your waiting on the next round you could. It just means those changes would not go into effect until after the Chuunin Exam is over. So for a Skill like... Investor ( ), you can still earn the money during the Exams, however you won't be able to log any of it (e.g. add it to your sheet, or spend it) until the Exam is over. Atlas Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Don’t know if this is the appropriate section for this question, but is there any possibility of adding missions for Kumogakure that could be focused around helping get setup for the Chuunin Exams? Seems like a relevant RP opportunity for people in the village leading up to the event. Quote
Rhapsody Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Contact Eechi-go as he is head GM of Kumo. Quote
Hardcore Skittlez Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 A little late here, but I set up a few special "daily" missions that people can do in the last few weeks before the exams(in Kumo.) They have better exp and money to word count ratios than normal, but are very exclusive- Once the exam begins, they're gone! Quote
Hardcore Skittlez Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I spoke to Eechi-go just a bit ago and confirmed this: The Chunin Exams setup missions are open to all early arrivals! Quote
