Clan_pip.png Clan History:

Long ago, before the founding of the shinobi villages, there lived an old man. He was not a rich or powerful man, but he was happier than most by far. He lived alone on a plot of land that his father before him had owned. For decades, the man worked the land and grew his own food. What he couldn't eat, he gave to others in need, free of charge.

To him, the farming wasn't a job, it was a passion. He had a knack for growing the most delicious produce, but was known for his prowess with flowers. Behind his house was the most beautiful collection of flowers imaginable. Most were indigenous to the area, and other grew from seeds that the old man picked up in his travels. Each petal was full and lush with wonderous heady scents. It was almost as if stepping into another world when entering his garden.

This was his pride and joy. Every free hour he had, he would be work with his plants. Pouring his love into them and tending to their every need. Among the local children, there was a rumor that the old man could talk to the plants because he always knew exactly what they needed, and sometimes even sang to them!

It was there, in his garden where the old man found peace and from that peace, he derived happiness. His sense of duty and passion thrived and every morning was met with an eager twinkle in his eye.

One day, a caravan of travelers came through the town. They danced and sang and performed for food, supplies, and money. It had the whole town buzzing with excitement! As night fell, the travelers went to sleep in their caravan. All except one. This wasn't one the performers, only an assistant recently acquired by the troupe. While the town slept, as well as the performers, the man crept through the town. He silently entered homes and took money and what little valuables the people had.

One of those homes was of the old man with the beautiful garden. With such a garden, the thief assumed that the old man had money to spar and rushed to the home. At the same time, the old man woke from a deep sleep, without a reason known to him. He lay in bed for a moment, letting the darkness wash over his eyes, hoping sleep would return.

Until he heard a creak in the old wood of his home. Someone was in his house. The old man left his bed, shaking his head. It had not been the first time a cat or child had found themselves in his home. Usually, whoever was there, was only looking for food, which the old man had no qualms about sharing.

Stepping into the hall and letting out a yawn, the man walked through the abode and grabbed an armful of vegetables to give to the hungry person. Except, the old man didn't find a hungry child of animal. He had stumbled across the thief, who was taken by surprise.

There was a glint of metal in the moonlight and the next thing the man experienced was pain in his stomach. The thief, now panicked, having hurt the old man, swore several times before running from the house never to be seen again.

The old man, now close to death only had one thing on his mind. His garden. He felt at peace and safe there and if these were his final moments, he longed to spend them with the flowers he loved so much. With what little strength he had left, the old man dragged himself out the garden to lay among the flowers and leaves.

As the sun came up, the old man closed his eyes and let out one soft, slow breath that seemed to go on forever.

The townsfolk found the old man the next day. He died where had lived. They knew that he met his end at peace, but decided that he was exactly where he belonged. Right in the garden, they dug his grave. Surrounded by his flowers for all eternity, they knew the old man's spirit would be at peace. Some even believed that had they buried him anywhere else, his soul would return as an angry spirit.

As the last handful of dirt was thrown onto the grave. The townspeople uttered prayers and some cried. Others just shook their head at the man's unnecessary death. Soon, they parted, ready to continue their lives and move forward.

However, the plants of the garden had not yet wept. For several days after the man's death, it is said that crying and singing unlike any other could be heard from the man's home. Children sworn they watched flowers bow and and cry tears of nectar that splashed on the old man's grave.

Until finally, a new plant had grown. One larger than any other that had been there previously. A tree so large it would have taken centuries to grow naturally, but nothing was natural about this plant. It bore a single fruit. Deep red and pulsing with energy. There it stood for countless days and nights. Almost a year had gone by and the villagers had come to believe the tree a guardian of the town.

On the anniversary of the old man's death, the fruit that hung heavy on the tree, gently dropped to the ground, drawing a crowd of spectators. It split open, as if ripped by unseen hands and from within, a young man emerged. His eyes flared a vibrant green as he opened them for the first time. A young child, a little girl, stepped forward gave the man a flower she had picked on her way up to the old man's house.

As the man took the flower, it began to grow and writhe with life, becoming a luscious bush in his hands. Cheers erupted from the crowd after a moment of disbelief. The old man had been given new life by his very own plants! They even gave him a new name. Hanamajo.

Hanamajo set out into the world to travel and learn more about what he had become. He had new abilities that seemed to defy logic and he sought out any who may have had answers. His journeys took him across the world, until he found a mountain.

Many told him that the mountain was too dangerous to climb, but the old man felt a pull that he couldn't understand. So he began the ascent. It took Hanamajo a week to reach the top of the mountain. Several times, coming very close to a second death, but in the end succeeding.

At the peak, the man found a break in the weather and a wide expanse of land. Dirt and rock as far as the eye could see. He was like an artist staring at a blank canvas. Suddenly, he knew his calling once more.

For decades, Hanamajo traveled to and from the peak of that mountain. He came down to carry up supplies to his sanctuary. He spent many years building a great stone temple, with the use of his abilities. He grew plants that could cut into the very rock of the mountain and heft great pillars of stone as if it were a feather.

Eventually, Hanamajo took a wife and the two lived in his palace of stone surrounded by plants and flowers. They had many children, all of whom seemed to possess similar abilities to their father. More little flower witches to help grow the oasis on the mountain.

Time continued to pass. Hanamajo was once again an old man. His powers seemed to only grow with his age. Able to control the vegetation with the utmost ease. He could heal wounds and cure illnesses and used these abilities to care for the people at the base of the mountain. Except, now, he was too old to make the journey down the mountain.

His wife had died, his children had left to see the world and were having children of their own. All that was left was the old man and his flowers. Just like it had been over one hundred years before. He was ready to leave the world for good this time. However, he feared that the plants he loved so much would try to bring him back once more.

So he went out to his Oasis, the people at the base of the mountain called it Ebon Jiin, and came across three insects. A ladybug, a praying mantis, and a honeybee. He watched them at work and smiled. Insects cared for his plants just as much, if not more than the old man did. So he decided to give the insects his power.

He gathered the three up and held them one by one. Each given a portion of the old man's great power. He sat, now weaker than he ever been and held the three insects while gazing upon his lovely flowers. Until his time had come. He closed his eyes and smiled.

The three insects, granted astounding power by the old man grew and bred and seemed to never age. With each generation of offspring they produced, they became larger and smarter. They even mastered human speech and honed the abilities granted to them by Hanamajo.

One day, a descendant of the original Hanamajo climbed the mountain. Immediately, the young woman was confronted by three insects, each the size of a human now, but powerful beyond measure. The young woman, Ne, spoke to the creatures and learned. The ladybug, mantis and honeybee saw a glimmer of Hanamajo in her and allowed her into Ebon Jiin.

After a day of rest, Nae was ready to set out once more. She was in search of a place where he clansmen, now numbering in the hundreds, could reside. They were scattered to the winds and the world was in turmoil and she believed it was best if they stayed together.

After discussion among themselves, the three decided it was their duty to help the future of the clan that Hanamajo created. With that, they entered into a summoning contract with the young woman. With that power under her belt, Ne was able to galvanize her people and lead them to where they resides now. Sunagakure no Sato.

Clan_pip.png Cultural Information:

Clan Traits:

• The Hanamajo do not have many distinguishable features. However, every Hanamajo seems to be born with green eyes, although the exact shade varies. Aside from that, they are a clan of average people. Hair colors are normally more fair, but this is more from the harsh sunlight they live in, rather than a genetic trait they are born with. On the surface, a Hanamajo is indistinguishable from a normal person.

Clan Outlook:

• As a whole, the Hanamajo clan are known for being peaceful and kind. While they have their fair share of bad apples, these miscreants tend to be more wild and rebellious rather than malicious. Within Sunagakure, the Hanamajo are highly respected and this creates the need to remain a force for good. Because they are not inherently dangerous and mostly produce medical shinobi, the other clans do not view the Hanamajo as any sort of threat.

Clan Professions:

• Because of their innate abilities and affinity towards vegetation, all Hanamajo are in some form, a farmer. As a clan, they run the largest farm in Sunagakure and are frequent employees in the various greenhouses. Hand in hand with that, the Hanamajo have become quite skilled merchants as well, creating and selling medicinal products for the general populace. Beyond that, the medical profession is quite common for those who are not adept at manipulating chakra.

Clan Estates:

• The Hanamajo live on a large farm made up of smaller plots of land owned by specific families. While not an estate in the traditional sense, the Hanamajo have been afforded much land as they are a supplied of food for the people of Sunagakure.

Clan Relations:

• Akasabure Clan | Neutral

Because the Akasabure clan are highly nomadic, they have little time for forging alliances.

• Tetsuchi Clan | Allied

The Tetsuchi can easily be viewed as the polar opposite of the Hanamajo clan, the two create for a fine balance. Highly respected of one another, the Hanamajo clan is often called when Tetsuchi spars get out of hand. The Hanamajo a calming presence when needed and the Tetsuchi who push the Hanamajo to the limit and ever higher.

• Chuugi Clan | Friendly

The Chuugi clan have long been defenders of their village, willing to lay down their own lives in the process. This dedication has gained respect from the Hanamajo clan.

• Shitareno Clan | Enemies

As with a good majority of the village, the Hanamajo both fear and despise the Shitareno clan for their criminal ways.

• Kohashi Clan | Neutral - Fearful

While the Kohashi are generally seen in a negative light, the Hanamajo are well versed in genetic anomalies and other genetic factors due to their medical prowess. However, not all in the clan share this and still look at the Kohashi with an amount of fear.

• Soyokaze Clan | Friendly

The Soyokaze are friendly by nature, which works very well with the Hanamajo's kind demeanour. The two get along swimmingly and it isn't uncommon for the Hanamajo to help grow flowers for the birds of the Soyokaze.
